Soumyarka Gupta, also called Shom, was born in West Bengal, India and has lived across multiple cities including Muscat, Amravati, Bhuvaneshwar, Jalgaon, Gwalior, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune and New Delhi.
In addition to being active in the New Delhi theatre circuit for a number of years, he is also a certified instructor of Krav Maga, an Israeli combat form, having trained under veteran martial artist Dr. Vicky Kapoor.
He is also an avid chess enthusiast with a professional background as an advertising copywriter and script writer. A voracious reader, his interest in books spans across several genres of fiction and non-fiction. A self-confessed Star Trek, Godfather, Calvin and Hobbes, Dr. Who fan, he can live on movies, web-series and books, supplemented with generous servings of freshly brewed black coffee.
He is fluent in English, Hindi, Bengali, several dialects of Bengali and Hindi including the Hyderabadi dialect. He also speaks functional Odia, Telugu, Marathi and Haryanvi. He is based in Mumbai, with residences in New Delhi and Kolkata as well.
