Biography

    • Film, theatre and TV director and writer. His first feature film as a director/writer, "Malu", premiered in Sundance World Competition in 2024, and was in competition in several other festivals like Hong Kong, Durban, San Diego, Melbourne and New Directors New Films (New York). Wrote and Directed 8 short films, officially selected at international festivals such as Venice, Locarno, Oberhausen, Torino, Huelva, Cinéma du Réel. His short "Se Por Acaso" was shot and edited under close supervision by Mr. Abbas Kiarostami, and premiered in Locarno in 2016. His short film "O Teu Sorriso" was in Venice official competition (2009) and earned several prizes in Brazil, including Best Film at Rio de Janeiro and Gramado. As a screenwriter, worked for director Ruy Guerra and wrote "Aspirantes" (Hopefuls), feature film by Ives Rosenfeld, winner of the Carte Blanche prize at Locarno Film Festival in 2014 and several prizes in Brazil. Worked as either Assistant Director, Casting Director or Acting Coach for Brazilian filmmakers Karim Ainouz, Jonathan Nossiter, Marcelo Gomes, Sergio Machado, Lúcia Murat and Cao Guimarães, as well as theatre directors Enrique Diaz and Bia Lessa. His first professional work as a stage director was Harold Pinter's "Old Times", which opened in Rio in 2011 and São Paulo in 2012. He also directed several TV series and theatre plays, under directors Luiz Fernando Carvalho, Maurício Farias and Anna Muylaert, among others. Participated at Lincoln Center's residence "Director's Lab" (New York, 2012) and at the Berlinale Talent Campus. Graduated as Film Director at the Cuban Film School EICTV. Imparts classes on film directing, acting for film and screenplay at several institutions in Brazil, Cuba and Dominican Republic.
