Upon its debut in 2023, Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey faced a lot of backlash from fans and critics who blasted the film as being nothing more than a quick cash-grab using the public domain to turn our beloved childhood characters into slasher villains. When Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 came around in 2024, the tone changed a little as people began to appreciate what Rhys Frake-Waterfield, Matt Leslie, Scott Chambers, and the entire crew at Jagged Edge Productions were attempting to accomplish. However, it was that initial reception that Chambers says caught everyone off guard.
MovieWeb caught up with him to discuss the latest film in The Twisted Childhood Universe (or Poohniverse), Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare, which sees Chambers behind the camera as director instead of in front of it like he was in Blood and Honey 2 as Christopher Robin. We had heard that director Rhys Frake-Waterfield and producer Scott Jeffrey Chambers were planning to create a cinematic universe with the Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey films and other horror movies inspired by children’s stories, like Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare, Bambi: The Reckoning, and Pinocchio Unstrung. Then, Jagged Edge Productions and ITN Studios officially announced that this cinematic universe, which is being referred to as The Twisted Childhood Universe, is building up to the crossover movie Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble, which will be released in 2025. Now, in an interview with ComicBook.com, Chambers has teased that Mary Poppins, Peter Pan, and the Mad Hatter will be “the worst of the worst” when it comes to the children’s story-inspired villains in the film.
Frake-Waterfield will be directing Poohniverse from a screenplay he wrote with Chambers. It was previously confirmed that the cast will include Chambers as Christopher Robin, Megan Plactio as Wendy Darling,...

More characters keep joining the upcoming massive horror crossover event Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble, and the most recent character update raises the stakes for the film but comes with a huge risk. The superhero genre is credited for the popularity of connected universes, and an unlikely one was formed not long ago in the horror genre. In 2023, Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey was released, a horror version of the beloved children’s character who entered the public domain a year before. Despite not being the critics’ favorite, Blood and Honey’s popularity made way for a franchise appropriately named The Twisted Childhood Universe.
The idea for the Twisted Childhood Universe is to produce horror movies centered around characters from children’s media, such as Peter Pan and Bambi. The purpose of this is for all of them to meet in a massive crossover event titled Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble, projected for a 2025 release.

The Twisted Childhood Universe (Tcu), or Poohniverse, is a British horror movie series created by Rhys Frake-Waterfield. It reimagines children’s characters as scary over-the-top villains.
The first movie, ‘Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey’, got bad reviews from critics and mixed reactions from fans but still made money. People criticized its script, acting, filming, and lack of humor, and it won five Razzie Awards but that single movie still managed to kickstart a franchise and Frake-Waterfield has promised to improve the quality of future films.
Now the franchise is ready for its big event, ‘Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble,’ the most ambitious crossover you will ever see, at least in this context.
The movie will feature evil versions of Winnie-the-Pooh, Peter Pan, and other childhood characters in a chilling twist on nostalgia. While most details are still secret, some villains will be more dangerous than others, and surprising Disney icons will join the story.

Anyone who enjoys having their childhood memories warped will be glad to hear that "Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2" is now available to watch at home. When the original "Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey" debuted in 2023, there was significant buzz around the film. Director Rhys Frake-Waterfield had taken advantage of A.A. Milne's beloved bear transitioning into the public domain, and promptly set about trying to ruin everyone's childhood with a twisted take on the material that saw Pooh reimagined as a slasher killer. That all amounted to a film with a 3% Rotten Tomatoes score.
Indeed, we at /Film dubbed "Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey" a humorless bloodbath. But Frake-Waterfield didn't let the bad reviews stop him and a sequel was quickly churned out. "Winnie-The-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2" arrived in 2024 and saw Pooh joined by more of his bloodthirsty chums, including Owl and Tigger.

"You forget many things in life, but you never forget kindness." Lionsgate reveals one more final official trailer for the movie White Bird, formerly known as White Bird: A Wonder Story. A sort of "spin-off" from the Wonder movie with Jacob Tremblay & Julia Roberts. Finally opening in October after being delayed for two years (originally set for 2022). Based on the graphic novel, it's a thrilling WWII survival story. It's about a boy named Julian who meets his French grandmother, who shares her story: how she, a young Jewish girl, was hidden by a family in a Nazi-occupied French village during World War II; and how the boy she and her classmates once shunned became her savior and best friend. From Marc Forster (the director of Finding Neverland and Christopher Robin) White Bird is an emotional story about how empathy can make a major difference in the world. Starring Helen Mirren,...

Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 looks to be delving deeper into Christopher Robin's childhood, rectifying the first movie's lack of development for his character. New images reveal the terrifying arrival of Tigger and Owl, with a glimpse into a haunting childhood connection for Christopher as well. With director Rhys Frake-Waterfield's promise of drastically improving on the first movie, a bigger involvement from Christopher Robin and his past could go a long way to doing so.
Christopher Robin's childhood is going to be explored further, as teased in new Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 images. Acting as a sequel to the 2023 slasher reimagining of the classic children's book character, the upcoming horror movie will find the titular bear continuing his bloody rampage on the town surrounding the Hundred Acre Wood with the help of his friends Tigger, Owl and Piglet. Rhys Frake-Waterfield returns as director for the sequel while...

Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey subverts a classic Disney character, turning the beloved bear into a malevolent slasher killer, which creates an irresistible draw. The movie's high camp and kitsch factor, including amateurish acting and ridiculous costumes, adds to its appeal among horror fans despite negative reviews. The film's so-bad-it's-good appeal, coupled with clever marketing that promised one type of film but delivered something different, contributed to its cult classic status and financial success.
Directed by Rhys Frake-Waterfield, Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey was released in early 2023 and instantly earned terrible reviews. The low-budget slasher film follows iconic children's Disney characters Pooh and Piglet on a violent killing spree after they're left behind by Christopher Robin when he heads to college. Despite currently boasting an abysmal 2.9 IMDb rating, 16 Metascore, and 3% Rotten Tomatoes rating, the film has become an instant cult classic among causal and hardcore horror fans for a variety of reasons.
