Eddie Murphy and Yara Shahidi in Dans ses rêves ! (2009)
'Darkness Rising': Film Review
Eddie Murphy and Yara Shahidi in Dans ses rêves ! (2009)
Imagine that when you were a child your mother murdered your sister and tried to kill you as well. Cut to decades later, when the house in which these horrors took place is about to be torn down. Naturally, the first thing you’ll want to do is take one last look around the place for old time’s sake.

Sounds implausible, right? But not in the world of horror films in which characters make so many boneheaded, life-threatening decisions that yelling at the screen has become a cherished communal experience among moviegoers. The latest example, Austin Reading’s Darkness Rising, would be...

Sinister Supernatural Presence Dominates Darkness Rising Stills & Poster
Something supernatural is waiting for Madison when she returns to her childhood home, and it isn't exactly rolling out the welcome mat in Darkness Rising, a new horror film from IFC Midnight. Ahead of the film's release later this month, a new set of stills and a motion poster hint at the horrors to come.

Directed by Austin Reading from a screenplay by Vikram Weet, Darkness Rising stars Tara Holt, Katrina Law, Bryce Johnson, Heather Mazur, and Ted Raimi. IFC Midnight will release Darkness Rising in theaters and on VOD beginning June 30th.

"A house’s horrifying secrets are resurrected in this blood-drenched supernatural nightmare. For years, Madison (Katrina Law) has been tormented by the memories of a traumatic childhood incident: when she was a girl, her mother murdered her younger sister, and nearly killed Madison, too. Joined by her fiancé (Bryce Johnson) and cousin (Tara Holt), the now-adult Madison...

“The Past Won’t Rest in Peace” in New Trailer for Darkness Rising
Some childhood homes hold good memories. This isn't one of them. For Madison, visiting the house where she grew up—and was nearly killed—is not a pleasant experience, and although she escaped death within its walls once before, the past isn't done with her yet, as evidenced by the spooky new trailer for Darkness Rising, a new IFC Midnight horror film with a cast that includes Ted Raimi.

History To Bow Unscripted ‘God, Guns & Automobiles’ On July 8
The half-hour History series stars Mark Muller and his brother and business partner, radio host Eric “Mancow” Muller, as they run their throwback auto dealership Max Motors in rural Butler, Mo. They make car deals the old-fashioned way in the heartland, fueled by a larger-than-life personality and turbo-charged attitude — they’ve been known to blow up cars and stage a fake UFO landing to drive sale, but Mark is just as likely to cut a break for a cash-poor farmer in need of a car. Gods, Guns & Automobiles is produced by Zone 3, with Michael Kronish, Isabelle Anouk Bourduas and Michel Bissonnette executive producers and Austin Reading showrunner. 'Death Valley' Producer Austin Reading Names His Top 5 Horror Comedies
Bryan Callen, Tania Raymonde, Texas Battle, Charlie Sanders, and Caity Lotz in Death Valley (2011)
MTV's Death Valley belongs in a category that it pretty much has to itself -- the successful horror-comedy TV show. So when I chatted recently with the show's producer, Austin Reading, I asked him to name the five horror-comedy films that have him impacted him the most. Find out which movies he named after the jump. "Damn you," Reading laughs when I ask him to name just five horror comedies. After thinking about it for a few moments, however, he gives me his picks: "1.) Dead Alive, 2.) Evil Dead II, 3.) Army of Darkness, 4.) Zombieland... Let me think, what else is really funny that I… Oh, my gosh – 5.) Shaun of the Dead!"...

Exclusive: Caity Lotz Talks 'Death Valley' Season 2
Yesterday, we featured producer Austin Reading on the possible second season of Death Valley, MTV's horror-comedy series about a special task force of cops assigned to deal with a sudden outbreak of zombies, vampires and werewolves in the San Fernando Valley. My favorite of these cops is rookie Officer Kirsten Landry. As played by actress Caity Lotz (best known for her appearances on Mad Men), herself a real life martial artist, Kirsten just might be the most fun undead-ass-kicking TV heroine since Buffy the Vampire Slayer. And last week, I was fortunate enough to chat with the lovely Lotz about where she'd like to see Kirsten go in season 2. Read what she had to say after the jump. Hollywood doesn't often like its...

If you're a fan of MTV's Death Valley and you're wondering whether the horror-comedy cop doc will be getting a second season, well, you still have a little longer to wait. Official word on the show's renewal is at least several weeks away. But to help whet your appetite... I just chatted with Death Valley's producer Austin Reading, and I made sure to ask him how things are going – and which direction he'd like the show to take in its second season. Find out what Reading had to say after the break. "We have some clear-cut storylines that could go in a variety of different ways," said Reading of Death Valley Season 2. "The second half of this season starts to really pick up the momentum...

"Death Valley" and Saying Hello To Mickey Rourke with a Greasy Tire: A Television Review ("The Hottest Day of the Year")
Creator: Curtis Gwinn.

Director: Austin Reading.

Writers: Mike Alber and Gabe Snyder.

MTV pushes along with their comedy series "Death Valley." In Epis. 6, "The Hottest Day of the Year," there are again three stories, two of which involve zombies. The other story follows Officer Kristen to a vampire turning party. The laughs return as a Mickey Rourke look-a-like is run over several times and the silly jokes seem to bring out the most laughs. This episode has lots of humour in this short twenty minute episode.

John-John (Texas Battle) and Carla (Tania Raymonde) are now being shadowed by an internal affairs officer after the killing of a senior citizen. The new policy called "Pus" puts the protocol into zombie bashing unnecessarily. This leads to the policymaker's death. At the same time, in front of the officer's location, Billy (Bryce Johnson) and Joe (Charlie Sanders) also take on some of the undead via their patrol car.

MTV greenlights two scripted series
Mojave (2004)
MTV is adding to its scripted ranks, giving series greenlights to two very different projects.

"That Girl" follows a 15-year-old who gains notoriety after an accident leads her classmates to think she attempted suicide. The show was created and executive produced by Lauren Iungerich (ABC Family's "10 Things I Hate About You").
