Something supernatural is waiting for Madison when she returns to her childhood home, and it isn't exactly rolling out the welcome mat in Darkness Rising, a new horror film from IFC Midnight. Ahead of the film's release later this month, a new set of stills and a motion poster hint at the horrors to come.

Directed by Austin Reading from a screenplay by Vikram Weet, Darkness Rising stars Tara Holt, Katrina Law, Bryce Johnson, Heather Mazur, and Ted Raimi. IFC Midnight will release Darkness Rising in theaters and on VOD beginning June 30th.

– Oscilloscope Laboratories has acquired the North American rights to the Tribeca Film Festival entry “November.” Directed by Rainer Sarnet, the film is based on Andrus Kivirähk’s novel “Rehepapp,” about about a peasant girl in 19th century Estonia who longs for village boy. The story of requited love takes place in an incredibly complicated, dark landscape where spirits, werewolves, plagues, and the devil himself converge.

Our friends at Raven Banner Entertainment are handling international sales for Darkness Rising, Austin Reading's feature film debut. They are presently in Berlin at Efm presenting the film to potential buyers. Reading has done a slew of work in televison over the years, mostly as a director and producer. He is directing a screenplay written by Vikram Weet (Arabic thriller The Worthy and Renny Harlin's Devil's Pass). The lads passed along the press release below as well as a still from the film (in post production) and the poster. Yesterday, we featured producer Austin Reading on the possible second season of Death Valley, MTV's horror-comedy series about a special task force of cops assigned to deal with a sudden outbreak of zombies, vampires and werewolves in the San Fernando Valley. The cops are all given "look-see" devices: tiny cameras that fit over the ear like blue tooth headsets. When Billy and Stubeck answer a zombie sighting at a crack house, another uniform gets bitten and runs off, infected. The guys follow him based off the location of his look-see and see what they think is a vampire giving the zombie his backpack. When the guys finally reach the look-see, they find it attached to some kid's car antenna. The guys never find the infected cop, but we see him go into a convenience...

In tonight episode of MTV's "Death Valley", Billy and Stu lose a partner in the line of duty while trying to help a drug addict. Sounds grim, right? MTV pushes along with their comedy series "Death Valley." In Epis. 6, "The Hottest Day of the Year," there are again three stories, two of which involve zombies. The other story follows Officer Kristen to a vampire turning party. The laughs return as a Mickey Rourke look-a-like is run over several times and the silly jokes seem to bring out the most laughs. This episode has lots of humour in this short twenty minute episode.

John-John (Texas Battle) and Carla (Tania Raymonde) are now being shadowed by an internal affairs officer after the killing of a senior citizen. The new policy called "Pus" puts the protocol into zombie bashing unnecessarily. This leads to the policymaker's death. At the same time, in front of the officer's location, Billy (Bryce Johnson) and Joe (Charlie Sanders) also take on some of the undead via their patrol car.

After a decade of thrilling audiences worldwide and nearly eight billion dollars in global box office receipts, Spike TV presented a moving tribute to the Harry Potter film franchise with the help of its eponymous star, Daniel Radcliffe, and Lord Voldemort himself, Ralph Fiennes at its Scream Awards 2011. Fittingly, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 led the way with six awards, with Radcliffe accepting the night's top honor, "The Ultimate Scream," on the film's behalf via remote surrounded by thousands of Harry Potter fans in New York City. The Weekend of Horrors returns to Los Angeles for its 25th year this coming Saturday and Sunday, May 14th and 15th, with the gory best of terror talent from both film and TV. This fright-filled weekend event will be held at the Lax Marriott Hotel, 5855 West Century Boulevard in Los Angeles.

With its 5th annual “Scream Awards” only weeks away, Spike TV is building momentum for its latest incarnation “Scream 2010.” At the beginning of the month, the show announced its nominees. Today, Spike has revealed that “Scream 2010″ will feature world premiere footage from Scream 4, Paranormal Activity 2, and The Rite. In case that isn’t compelling enough television for Spike to earn your rating points, the awards ceremony is also set to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Back to the Future with guest appearances from cast members including Michael J. MTV is adding to its scripted ranks, giving series greenlights to two very different projects.

The network has ordered a series about a teenage girl mistaken for being suicidal and a horror comedy about cops fighting monsters.

The two represent the latest effort by the network to expand into scripted originals, having launched the dramedy "The Hard Times of Rj Berger" this summer.

"The pickup of these two new series marks another step in our attempt to diversify our creative landscape and introduce more scripted programming," MTV executive vp scripted development David Janollari said. "The idea for us is to connect with a millennial audience that reflects their lives back at them."

"That Girl" follows a 15-year-old who gains notoriety after an accident leads her classmates to think she attempted suicide. The show was created and executive produced by Lauren Iungerich (ABC Family's "10 Things I Hate About You").
