Zohran Mamdani Links Up With Wu-Tang Clan in Viral Social Media Video
Image
Zohran Mamdani’s social media hot streak continues, as his latest viral post sees the Democratic Party’s candidate for the New York City mayoral election link up with Staten Island icons the Wu-Tang Clan.

In a tweet posted to X on Thursday, Mamdani is seen attending a recent Wu-Tang gig at New York’s Madison Square Garden as the guest of former congressman Jamaal Bowman. In the clip, Mamdani is seen mingling with rather shocked concertgoers. He also meets with various members of Wu-Tang, including Inspectah Deck and U-God, as well as Run the Jewels’ Killer Mike and El-p and The Lox’s Sheek Louch, Styles P and Jadakiss. A clearly star-struck Mamdani, a former rapper himself, also has a lengthy conversation about the cost of living crisis with Wu-Tang’s de facto leader, RZA.

Killer Mike Offers Impressive Empathy and Vague Politics on His Comeback Record ‘Michael’
Image
In the Aughts, Killer Mike was a fiery maelstrom, the South’s answer to Ice Cube, and an Atlanta polemicist comfortable with both dope-boy fantasies and bruising Black politics. But it’s been eleven years since R.A.P. Music, a classic pairing with rapper/producer El-p that inspired the two to form the world-conquering duo Run the Jewels. On his sixth album, Michael, the rapper focuses on his personal life, particularly his late mother and grandmother, with uncharacteristic empathy and restraint, even as he continues to utilize his uniquely brusque vocal style.

Killer Mike Links Up with André 3000 and Future for “Scientists & Engineers”: Stream

Killer Mike is gearing up to release his new album, Michael, this Friday, and he’s shared a collaboration with fellow Atlanta rappers André 3000 and Future called “Scientists & Engineers” as a final preview. Stream it below.

Also featuring a contribution from R&b singer Eryn Allen Kane, the “Scientists & Engineers” instrumental contains futuristic synths that contrast with the soulful backing vocals about living forever as all three rappers spit introspective verses. Whereas André hopes he’ll get a “second wind” at 80 and Future talks about turning “a trap house to a ranch,” Mike closes out the track by promising to keep it “a hundred percentage authentic.” He adds, “I got no gimmicks, so I ain’t protectin’ no image.”

Along with “Scientists & Engineers,” Mike shared the full list of features for the album, which includes Ty Dolla $ign, Curren$y, 2 Chainz, 6Lack, Kaash Paige, CeeLo Green, Jagged Edge, Mozzy,...

Killer Mike Details New Album Michael, Shares “Motherless”: Stream
Image
Killer Mike has shared the artwork and tracklist for his previously announced solo album, Michael, and shared the latest preview, “Motherless,” featuring R&b singer Eryn Allen Kane. To accompany the single, the Atlanta rapper shared a two-part short film tribute to his late mother featuring the music video for the recently released “Don’t Let the Devil” and “Motherless” visual.

Marking Killer Mike’s first solo effort in more than a decade, Michael contains every track he’s released over the past year, including the Young Thug-assisted “Run,” “Talkin Dat Shit!,” and the previously mentioned “Don’t Let the Devil” featuring fellow Run the Jewels member El-p and thankugoodsir. In a previous statement, the album was described as Killer Mike’s “most autobiographical” to date.

To that end, the Davi Peña-directed “Don’t Let the Devil” video is an homage to the “bohemian-artsy-disco infused parties” that Killer...

In celebration of his birthday, Killer Mike has announced his new album, Michael, which marks the Run the Jewels member’s first solo effort in more than a decade. “Rtj is the X-Men, this is my Logan,” the Atlanta rapper said, in reference to Hugh Jackman’s 2017 masterpiece. Michael is further described as Mike’s “most autobiographical and independent album to date.”

Like Killer Mike’s last solo LP R.A.P. Music, “Don’t Let the Devil” was produced by El-p, who called upon Chicago luminary No I.D. and frequent Rtj collaborator Little Shalimar for assistance. Zack de la Rocha is Ready to Rage in Rare Verse on New Algiers Track ’Irreversible Damage’
Image
Atlanta post-punk outfit Algiers have acquired a rare verse from Rage Against the Machine’s Zack de la Rocha for their new song, “Irreversible Damage.”

“Irreversible Damage” is a blistering and relentless cut, built around ceaseless percussion, uneasy synths, and what even sounds like a drawn out version of an amber alert phone alarm. De la Rocha cuts through this chaos with some characteristically steely bars, spitting, “This a relapse / what it be god / No rehab for my jihad / A rapture in a grief storm / Time on my neck and it be gone.

Run the Jewels and 2 Chainz Get Robbed by the ‘Get Duked!’ Cast in New Video
Image
A drunk and stoned group of young dudes don’t make for the stealthiest cat-burgling team, but they’re definitely fun to watch. In the new video for Run the Jewels’ “Out of Sight,” four friends traipse through a palatial estate, while dodging laser beams and trying not to trip over their own feet. They eventually find what they’re looking for: a set of golden gloves — just like the ones pictured on the RTJ4 album cover — and a case of glowing jewels that trigger a psychedelic experience when eaten.

Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and Run the Jewels have teamed up for a bruising new song, “Forever.”

Barker produced the track which is, of course, anchored by his thundering drums, over which he drops a mix of grinding synths and an ominous organ groan. The beat’s a perfect fit for Run the Jewels, as El-p and Killer Mike toss out snarling bars like “Rap’s Rasputin, I’m pulling pumps on pompous ass preachers and shooting” and “A champ in the land of the stupid/The kind that take...

Run the Jewels Wish Their New Album Didn’t Make So Much Sense Right Now
Image
It starts with a fake TV-show intro, a shootout, a getaway, and a couple of outlaws hitting the road like they were the Thelma and Louise of hardcore agit-pop rap. It goes out not with a bang, but with grown men laying their souls bare while flipping the bird to a firing squad. During the 37 minutes that separates those moments on Run the Jewels’ RTJ4, you get a lot of what you’d expect from the dynamic duo of El-p and Killer Mike: sci-fi dystopias bumping up against socially conscious fuck you–itude,...
