Cynthia Bemis Abrams is the creator and host of Advanced TV Herstory, a podcast that connects the dots of TV and women to American politics and culture. A lifelong TV viewer, Cynthia believes that storytelling and the power of the shared TV experience are essential tools of intersectional feminism.
In the early years of podcasting, Cynthia saw an opportunity to reach a worldwide audience with a contextual or feminist backstory of many of the powerful series, actors and televised moments of the last 70 years.
Advanced TV Herstory is a research based, chat-lite podcast that presents material in direct narration, narration plus audio clips, and interview formats. It launched in 2015, enjoys a worldwide audience and has a profile on IMDb, linked to Cynthia's profile there as well. Multi-episode series include: a deep look into the early 1950's Red Channels publication and anti-communist fervor that decimated women's careers in the early days of TV, an examination of The Judy Garland Show (1963) and the history of daytime dramas. Cynthia is a public relations and leadership consultant with a 30+ year career in public relations, during which she frequently developed and executed change communications to a variety of audiences. Earning a Masters Degree in Organizational Leadership, she created and taught the "Growing the Leader in You" curriculum at her alma mater, Minnesota State University, Mankato. Cynthia is an experienced public speaker and facilitator and has twice been elected to public office in her hometown.
