Dougie Brimson

  • Dougie's screenplay for Hooligans (2005) contains 17 private jokes some of which relate to his RAF career. For example,, the name of the hooligan firm The GSE has its origins in Brimson's trade which was a Ground Support Equipment engineer.

    The film was originally written about the rivalry between Tottenham and Arsenal but was changed to West Ham and Millwall at the request of one of the producers.
  • The child who play's Tommy Hatchers son, who is killed in the movie, was played by Brimson's own son, Ben. His daughter Kayleigh featured in the bar scene with Elijah Wood.
  • Top Dog was adapted by Dougie Brimson from his own novel, Top Dog. It is the second book in a trilogy of novels about his character, Billy Evans.
  • The Gentle Sex short movie was funded by the BFI and was produced as a promotional tool for a feature length version which is in development.
  • The DVD of Green Street appears in the short movie, Jack & Jill. It's on the coffee table.
