Paul Oliver is an award-winning writer and director. He is a creator, writer and director of OLD SCHOOL, starring Sam Neill and Bryan Brown. This 8-x-1-hour ABC TV comedy-drama crime series was produced by NBCU-Matchbox Pictures.
Paul adapted the series from his telemovie LENNIE CAHILL SHOOTS THROUGH, which he wrote and directed. The movie screened on SBS TV, won an Australian Film Institute Award and an Australian's Writer's Guild Award.
Paul also wrote and directed THE FIBROS AND THE SILVERTAILS (2007), a one-hour social-history sports documentary, which screened on ABC TV and won him a second Writer's Guild Award. He has written and directed numerous shorts, including the eco-thriller MERCURY (2011).
Paul has written for and staffed on other broadcast TV shows, such as THE DOCTOR BLAKE MYSTERIES (2013-2018 ABC/BBC/Netflix), and developed projects for production companies including CJZ, Seven Studios, Film Art Media, Beyond Entertainment and December Media. Prior to film making, Paul worked in as a speechwriter.
Paul is currently developing the features MOTHER OF CRIME and MIDNIGHT SHIFT.
