Originally on Freevee, the Emmy-nominated series has moved to Prime Video following Amazon’s platform reshuffling last November. Talk about keeping things under wraps! This documentary-style comedy that captured our hearts with its unique premise is about to surprise us all over again, but this time, we’re trading courtroom drama for corporate shenanigans.

Jury Duty was one of the biggest show’s on Amazon’s Freevee streaming service, prior to it being shut down. The show, a cross between a mockumentary and a prank-show, created an entire court case with jurors and lawyers and a judge - but only one member of the jury was unaware it was all fake.
The hit show was praised for its originality and creativity, though many were curious if the series could be pulled off a second timegiven the popularity of the first season. It's now been revealed that a renewal is happening, as the show has been renewed for Season 2, per Variety. Season 2 has also already been filmed.

It’s been almost two years since viewers joined an unsuspecting Ronald Gladden for Jury Duty, a hidden camera series in which 11 out of the 12 jurors are actors. The unexpected comedy hit from Amazon’s now-dissolved Freevee put civilian Gladden at the center of the joke. But it was never cruel as the show quickly won viewers over with its display of kindness as Gladden tended to his eclectic fellow jurors with patience and warmth. The show was such a success it earned four Emmy nominations, one of which was for Outstanding Comedy Series. The show also highlighted a stellar performance from James Marsden, who played an over-the-top version of himself. But will Jury Duty return for a second season? It’s a question that has lingered… Until now. Below, we’re breaking down everything we know about Jury Duty Season 2 so far. (Credit: Amazon Freevee) Has Jury Duty been renewed for Season 2? Yes,...

Amazon Freevee's Jury Duty was the surprise hit of 2023. The show plunged a single unsuspecting participant, Ronald Gladden, into an entirely fake courtroom with actors and secret cameras filming the bonkers case. The series managed to maintain the secret for all eight episodes and kept viewers engaged to the very end, desperate to see Ronald's reaction to the ruse. You might think a show like that can only work once. But, the series has just been greenlit for a second season. Just don't expect to return to the courtroom.
Per Deadline,Jury Duty is returning for a second season, with the show's return moving in a completely new direction. 'But, now that people know a second season is coming, how will they maintain the mystery?' we hear you ask. Well, not to worry, because according to the report, the new season has already been shot and is currently in post-production.

Jury Duty will return for — and has already filmed — a second season at Amazon Prime Video, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed Thursday.
Amazon declined to comment on the news. Season one of the show aired in 2023 on Amazon’s Freevee and endeared audiences with its candid camera comedy starring an unknowing Ronald Gladden. Actors — including James Marsden (playing himself) — improvised along as caricatures of fellow jurors, a judge and other courtroom personalities while Gladden went the whole stint believing the entire ruse was real.
Sources report Jury Duty‘s second season will leave the witness stand behind in favor of a corporate retreat setting. It was shot in the Agoura Hills suburb of Los Angeles.
Season one showrunner Cody Heller previously told THR she was “terrified” by the challenge of pulling off the candid camera feat. “There was something about that fear of failure that ignited something in myself,” she said.

“Jury Duty” will be back for Season 2 sooner than we think.
The Amazon Freevee comedy, which became a surprise hit for the platform and migrated over to Prime Video after the sibling streamer’s shuttering, already produced its next installment, according to media reports.
Amazon representatives declined to comment for the story.
The new season is believed to be set at a corporate retreat instead of a courtroom, according to a report from Variety. Filming took place in Los Angeles and Deadline reported the story will center around a David vs. Goliath theme.

“Jury Duty” has been summoned once again.
The comedy series, which debuted on Amazon’s now-defunct streamer Freevee as a surprise hit in 2023, will run for a second season on Amazon Prime Video, Variety has learned from sources. Amazon did not comment on the renewal.
Additionally, a source tells Variety that Season 2 will be set at a corporate retreat rather than a courtroom, and that it was shot in the Los Angeles suburb of Agoura Hills. Amazon did not comment on this information.

One of the comedy breakouts of 2023 was Jury Duty, a documentary-style comedy for Amazon Freevee that featured James Marsden and other actors surrounding an unsuspecting juror at a trial. It will run on Prime Video where Freevee’s content migrated after Amazon’s free ad-supported streaming platform was shut down last November.

Fans might know him as Cyclops and the Donut Lord — they may have even heard about him recently playing the President of the United States — but one man didn’t know he was part of the cast of the prank show Jury Duty.

James Marsden has been the heartthrob and even the president (in Hulu’s currently airing Dan Fogelman political thriller Paradise), but Jury Duty marked the first time the Emmy nominee played an exaggerated, asshole version of himself — something he said he felt bad about, especially given unsuspecting leading man (and victim) Ronald Gladden’s lack of awareness about it.
Appearing on a new episode of Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast today, Marsden unpacked the behind-the-scenes stakes of the “risky high-wire act” Freevee show that captivated comedy fans based on its prank-adjacent premise: One man is duped into believing he is a member of a jury in a real court case, when, in actuality, he is surrounded by increasingly bizarre characters and scenarios.
Over the course of filming for three weeks, Marsden said he and his fellow actors became “actual friends [with Gladden] during it because he was such a good guy and fun to be around.

The Amazon Prime TV comedy Jury Duty changed the life of Ronald Gladden after bringing him on board as an unsuspecting jury surrounded by actors in a staged trial. Now he's ready for another big career step. The series' main goal is to explore the American judicial process as seen through the eyes of a single jury.
Before signing up for Jury Duty, Gladden was an ordinary solar contractor looking for a new experience. He didn't know he was about to become the star of a show that blurred the lines between reality and fiction. Unaware that his fellow jurors were actors, Gladden worked incessantly to get a verdict on the absurd case unfolding in the courtroom, drastically changing how he perceives the world around him.

In 1998, Jim Carrey starred in The Truman Show, which saw his character at the center of a wild social experiment where everyone around him was an actor, and in 2023, that idea came to life in Jury Duty. The casts of 9-1-1 and Jury Duty faced off in the latest episode of Celebrity Family Feud, and we have to admit, at the beginning, we didn’t see how the former could win. Oliver Stark, Ryan Guzman, Aisha Hinds, Tracie Thoms, and Bryan Safi from 9-1-1, playing for the American Red Cross, faced off against Ronald Gladden, Cassandra Blair, Maria Russell, David Brown, Susan Berger, and Edy Modica from Jury Duty, playing for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles. Stark and Gladden faced off first. “We asked 100 men, fill in the blank, you know a date’s not into you if she ____ after you kiss her,” host Steve Harvey said. Stark rang in first with “comes up with an excuse,” but it wasn’t on the board. “Pulls out her phone,” Gladden said, and it, too, wasn’t on the board. Then it went to Guzman,...

The longform comedy prank show Jury Duty features a robust cast of improv comedy performers. The lead, Ronald Gladden, was the only civilian involved, unaware that he was being pranked. X-Men star James Marsden also appeared in the show, playing a heightened version of himself.
The cast of Jury Duty is one of the most unique collections of performers on a modern television project. The Amazon Freevee comedy show, which premiered on April 7, 2023, was co-created by The Office executive producers Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, who had also previously collaborated on the show Smilf. Dave and Jenny Marrs faced not one, but two lawsuits alleging safety violations and code issues in their house renovations. The lawsuits could damage the Marrs' credibility, with nearly two dozen code violations reported by a local contractor. This isn't the first time the Marrs have been sued - a previous lawsuit in 2021 accused them of improper renovations without permits.
Celebrities are hit with lawsuits left and right. When a celebrity is sued, one could make the argument that this could just be a case of someone looking to get some of their money. This really depends on the specifics of each case.
When a lawsuit has more weight to it, however, it can seriously place a celebrity's credibility in jeopardy.
This is what happened when Dave and Jenny Marrs were sued not once, but twice. The stars of HGTV's Fixer To Fabulous were hit with a lawsuit that alleged multiple safety violations.

On both Wednesday and Thursday night, May 8 and 9, the nostalgia-inducing space transformed into “The Pollo Lounge,” a riff on the iconic Polo Lounge, becoming a cozy and classy jazz speakeasy where invited guests were served their take on Kentucky Friend Chicken classics. Chain specializes in transforming chain restaurant classics, like a KFC chicken bucket, into a more elevated version of itself.
For the Pollo Lounge pop-up, guests were served generous portions of chicken tenders, french fries, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese and biscuits at tables centered around a small stage. In addition to the food, guests were able to choose from a menu of cocktails made with the new prebiotic soda Levo, which sponsored the evening. The soda was also available on its own for...

James Marsden believes it's unlikely he will be involved in Jury Duty season 2 if the show gets renewed. The actor believes that season 2 will happen. Jury Duty has been a hit with viewers and went viral on TikTok, making its renewal more likely.
Jury Duty star James Marsden addresses the possibility of season 2. An inventive reality hoax show from creators Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, the story focuses on the inner workings of a jury trial in the United States through the eyes of juror Ronald Gladden — with the actor portraying a satirized version of himself. The citizen from San Diego is unaware that his jury duty summons is unofficial and that everyone in the courtroom other than him is an actor. Since Jury Duty became available for streaming on Freevee in April 2023, the comedy has jumped in popularity, receiving Emmy nominations and garnering Gladden an overall deal with Amazon MGM Studios.

Who doesn’t love a group photo packed with big-name actors?
A slew of stars came together to say cheese and help raise north of $2.5 million in West Hollywood on Saturday night at the Motion Picture & Television Fund’s 17th annual Evening Before benefit. “We’ve had quite a year, and this organization and its fundraiser has helped many weather the storm,” said Brunson. Added Odenkirk, “I’m thrilled to be a co-chair of MPTF’s Evening Before benefit with Quinta. MPTF really stepped up during a very challenging year to support the entertainment community, and I’m proud to be a part of a fundraiser that will help to sustain that vital support.

Progress on the Who's the Boss? revival is moving forward, with the show's future now in the hands of Freevee for a final decision. The creative team, including co-creator Mike Royce, completed all the necessary scripts for the revival before the 2023 writers strike. The team expects to hear whether or not the revival is greenlit after the new year.
Progress on the Who's the Boss? revival has received a major update. The original show, which ran on ABC for eight seasons between 1984 and 1992, followed a retired baseball player (Tony Danza) taking a job as a housekeeper for an ad executive (Judith Light) in Fairfield, Connecticut, bringing along his daughter (Alyssa Milano). The show's planned revival on Freevee was originally announced in mid-2022, from One Day at a Time reboot co-creator Mike Royce and writer Brigitte Muñoz-Liebowitz.
Per TVLine, Mike Royce recently appeared on an episode of The Hollywood Reporter's TV's Top 5 podcast.

Exclusive: Rashida “Sheedz” Olayiwola, one of the stars of Disney+’s forthcoming Marvel miniseries Ironheart, has signed with Independent Artist Group for representation.
While details as to Olayiwola’s role are under wraps, she’s part of an ensemble led by Dominique Thorne, which also includes Anthony Ramos, Shakira Barrera, Alden Ehrenreich and more. The six-episode series created by Chinaka Hodge sees Thorne reprise her Black Panther: Wakanda Forever role of Riri Williams, a genius inventor out of MIT who has created the most advanced suit of armor since Iron Man’s.
An actress, writer and comedian, Olayiwola is best known for her role as Bailiff Nikki in Amazon Freevee’s singular comedy series Jury Duty from creators Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, which went viral earlier this year and garnered three Emmy nominations including Outstanding Comedy Series. “Jury Duty” is a reality show. Or is it a sitcom? A documentary? An elaborate prank?
How about all of the above?
One of 2023’s defining breakouts, the Amazon Freevee series is the crown jewel of an ascendant hybrid genre sometimes referred to as docu-comedy. Even the people who made the show aren’t sure how to classify it. Director Jake Syzmanski and co-creator Lee Eisenberg say they’ve never heard that term. Eisenberg suggested hidden-camera comedy, but that’s not really accurate either, as everyone involved knew they were being filmed. Robyn Adams, a producer, used “outlined improv.” Whatever nomenclature best applies, this increasingly common format has enjoyed a banner year, with “Jury Duty,” Peacock’s “Paul T. Goldman,” BBC and Netflix’s “Cunk on Earth,” and HBO’s “How To with John Wilson” picking up where the likes of Sacha Baron Cohen and Nathan Fielder left off.

Ronald Gladden, the unwitting star of this year’s surprise breakout docu-comedy hit “Jury Duty,” has signed a two-year overall deal with Amazon MGM Studios to produce, develop and star in a variety of content – a turn of events as implausible as his growing fame.
Gladden was the good-natured, game-for-anything young contractor who unknowingly answered a Craigslist ad looking for someone to participate in a documentary about jury service. He instead became the unwitting dupe in a situation comedy on which he was the only person who wasn’t an actor and wasn’t in on the ruse. Through the eight “Jury Duty” episodes, the audience followed Gladden’s selection onto the purported jury for a fake court case and his building incredulity at all of the weird situations and oddball characters surrounding him as the hoax trial moved forward. The show became a giant hit for Amazon Freevee and earned four Emmy Award nominations,...

“Jury Duty” star Ronald Gladden has signed an overall deal with Amazon MGM Studios, Variety has learned.
Under the two-year deal, Gladden will work with the studio to produce, develop, and star in content across platforms.
“Words cannot express how excited I am to officially be a part of the Amazon family,” said Gladden. “’Jury Duty’ was a remarkable experience for me, and one that introduced me to so many creative and inspiring people. I’m now looking forward to utilizing those new relationships to develop projects for Amazon MGM Studios.”
Gladden was working as a solar contractor in San Diego before he became the (unwitting) star of the Freevee comedy series “Jury Duty.” Gladden believed he was selected to serve on the jury, unaware that everyone else involved in the “trial” was an actor and that the whole thing was a hoax.
