Born in Fort Meade, Maryland, and raised in a military family, Jeff Lane is an accomplished film director, producer, screenwriter, and occasional actor.
After graduating from Northeastern University in Boston, Jeff began his career as an officer in the U.S. Army. It was during his posting in Virginia that his passion for filmmaking emerged, as he served as a military advisor and appeared as an actor in the film L'École des héros (1991).
Following his service, Jeff transitioned to civilian life in Phoenix, Arizona, where he joined the Tempe Police Department as a police officer and detective. During his tenure, he held the role of Public Relations Officer and created, wrote, produced, and directed the Arizona Cox cable television show Tempe StreetBeat (2001) (2000-2005). In addition, he wrote, produced, and directed several award-winning commercials and public service announcements from 2001 to 2005, earning four prestigious awards from the International Media Communications Association (MCA-I).
Jeff made his directorial debut with Lady Doctor (2023), a film centered on the suffrage movement during Arizona's statehood in 1912. This powerful work was celebrated at multiple film festivals, receiving accolades for Best Cinematography, Best Human Rights Film, Best Short Film, Best Cast, and Best Sound.
His second film, Forever (2024) (2024), which he wrote, produced and directed, garnered an Audience Favorite award, a Best Short Film award and became a semi-finalist in numerous festivals for Best Short Film.
Jeff continues to embrace his love for acting, with recent roles including his portrayal of Judge Sniffen in the true-story film The Dog Bite Murders (2023).
