Biography

Born and raised in China, Betty Lee Thomas was an administrator at a successful company but took time off from her job to volunteer at a temple for two years. After reflecting on her life, she decided to change career paths, becoming an actor. She moved to the United States in 2017 and landed her first role in 2019.

Her most notable roles include: Lieutenant Ayume, a disciplined, tough leader with a strong sense of justice who fought in a post-apocalyptic world war in the film Operation Blackfall; an impartial, yet compassionate head juror alongside Brendan Gleeson's detective character in the 2017 crime thriller TV series based on a Steven King novel, Mr. Mercedes (2017); and a diligent and friendly office worker for John Goodman's character in the 2019 comedy TV series The Righteous Gemstones (2019).

She has powerful appearances alongside Paul Bettany's Johnny in the film Harvest Moon as a stressed beach goer in the midst of a pandemic, and she plays a wealthy, old-money-wedding-goer in the 2022 action crime film The Radcliffes (2022).

Betty Lee Thomas speaks fluent Mandarin and English. She is a true nature-lover who is committed to environmental issues as well as being a volunteer with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources. In her free time, she enjoys working out and traveling. She is passionate about learning and strives to better herself daily.
