Lionel Richie, Ryan Seacrest, Carrie Underwood, and Luke Bryan in American Idol: The Search for a Superstar (2002)
American Idol judge Katy Perry left the ABC talent show, and Carrie Underwood was chosen to take over. The Season 4 winner found a lot of critics, who vented ahead of the March 9 premiere. However, the ratings soared, per The Sun, despite the negativity.

The Ratings Are Very Good

Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie remained as judges, and many people thought that any replacement might have big boots to fill after Katy left. Well, Carrie seemed to be welcomed by viewers. The outlet reported on March 17, that “a special preview to introduce the new judging panel, [saw] 5,905,000 viewers…” That was significantly high.

The numbers spoke for themselves, with The Sun noting that “the special even beat out the Season 22 finale with 5,639,000 viewers.” While the March 9 show didn’t beat the Season 22 premiere last year, when “4,620,000 fans tuned in,” Carrie’s debut didn’t kill the show.

10 Reasons Megan Danielle Will Win American Idol Season 21 (The Evidence)
Image
American Idol season 21 has featured some of the most extraordinary talent in the show's history, and Megan Danielle will most likely win the whole competition. Megan, a 21-year-old server from Douglasville, Georgia, had one of the most memorable auditions. While she sang Lauren Daigle's "You Say" for the judges, Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan, Lauren surprised her and joined her in singing the song. Lauren's mother Morgan, an American Idol alum, was in an untelevised group performance with Lauren during the Las Vegas round of season 11.

Throughout American Idol season 21, Megan has been consistently excellent. She advanced to the finale on Disney Night, along with Colin Stough and Iam Tongi. Although all three of these finalists are superb and any one of them would make a perfect American Idol, Megan will most likely win the competition. There are ten reasons why this will happen.

‘American Idol’: Will another country singer upset the presumed front-runner like Laine Hardy in Season 17?
Image
Could an upset be brewing on Season 21 of “American Idol”? All year fans have been forecasting Iam Tongi would take home the top prize, but he may not be the sure bet we’ve assumed. This season closely resembles a similar lineup up finalists from Season 17 when 18-year old country crooner Laine Hardy took down fan favorite Alejandro Aranda, who, like Iam, had become a viral sensation since his first audition.

This time around it’s 18-year old Mississippi native Colin Stough who has progressively grown his fanbase each week, delivering honky-tonk renditions of some of music’s most popular tunes. Like Laine, he was barely a blip on viewers’ radar in early rounds, but as judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie have pointed out, his star continues to rise.

American Idol Top 5 finalist, Zachariah Smith, was eliminated after his two extraordinary performances on Disney Night, but, after his exit, he teased some exciting upcoming events. His last two performances of "I Just Can't Wait to Be King" from The Lion King and "Life is a Highway" from Cars were thrilling, but he unfortunately didn't make the Top 3, along with Wé Ani. Iam Tongi, Colin Stough, and Megan Danielle will now compete for the American Idol crown on the May 21 finale.
