Demand for South Florida Real Estate Fuels Soaring Prices and Gleaming Towers as Tech, Music and Hollywood Hit the Region
Image
The sky appears to be the limit for South Florida luxury residential real estate. Billions of dollars in luxury condominium towers are in the pre-sales, planning and construction pipeline. March 2024 saw a record condo price for the state when a penthouse at Miami Beach’s Shore Club Private Collection went under contract for $120 million.

Entertainment, sports and finance figures like Amazon’s CEO Jeff Bezos and Sylvester Stallone have made the move to the tonier cities in South Florida.

For those seeking prime locations overlooking Biscayne Bay or on the beach with Atlantic Ocean or intercoastal views, location and architecture are major differentiators as are a project’s menu of desired amenities. Partnerships with brands and brand names distinguish these residential towers.

A sampling of names attached to these towers range from Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, with the 48-story Jean-Georges Miami Tropic Residences, to Carbone’s Major Food Group, the restaurant...

15 Best TV Shows Like NCIS
Image
NCIS is one of the most popular TV shows, and for good reason, but there are also many similar shows that deserve the same attention. NCIS has been on the air for over 20 years and has also led to the formation of several NCIS spinoffs. The show has managed to maintain its popularity despite numerous cast changes and character exits, highlighting the success of its formula. Recent NCIS seasons have even revealed the exit of major main characters, demonstrating its ongoing development.

NCIS's popularity over the years can be attributed to its familiarity, routine, and likable characters. However, NCIS is just one of many procedural TV shows that highlight charismatic characters who work together to bring criminals to justice. The niche of NCIS is that it focuses on crimes related to Navy and Marine Corps personnel, and while every show has its own focus, there are a few crime...

The Swedish real estate broker is developing a new show with Evolution Media, the production company behind Vanderpump Rules and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

The series will follow his business, featuring his team of real estate professionals based in Miami.

Eklund is the co-founder of Eklund|Gomes, which has secured more than $25B in residential transactions and sold more than 125 new developments within the past decade. Image
Some of New York City’s biggest names in real estate were in attendance at The Hollywood Reporter‘s third annual New York Power Broker Awards. The ceremony, held on July 29 at a private members’ club in lower Manhattan, honored the prestigious agents in eight categories.

This year’s New York Power Broker Awards party celebrated 30 agents who were featured on THR‘s 2024 Top New York Real Estate Agents list, exclusively chosen based on media visibility, sales numbers, and the prestige of properties listed. They were given awards in eight categories.

As with the previous ceremonies, the event was presented by luxury real estate PR firm The Society Group. Sponsored by interior design and home styling company Vesta Home, the night kicked off with a cocktail hour, as guests mingled over canapés.

The 30 New York Real Estate Agents on Hollywood’s Hot List
Image
One word is on the lips of every broker in NYC, and they’ve all got an opinion.

“The elections always bring uncertainty into the equation,” says Douglas Elliman star Fredrik Eklund. Agrees fellow Elliman broker Steven Cohen, “The real estate market is averse to volatility and historically slows down as we approach the elections.

“I think activity will remain low until at least later this year, after the election,” concurs Nobel Black, also of Elliman. But says Compass’ Matt Breitenbach, “The Hamptons real estate market will be fine despite macroeconomic pressure and presidential elections.”

But no matter what’s in the crystal ball for the remainder of 2024, one thing is clear: New York’s power sellers again made their marks over the past year. Despite high interest rates, inflation and competition with South Florida, Manhattan continued to see jaw-dropping sales at buildings the Central Park Tower, where Elliman’s...

L.A.’s Real Estate Upfronts Reveal Penthouse A at Rosewood Residences Beverly Hills
Image
Timed to coincide with TV’s upfronts in New York, a real estate-focused event that also calls itself the Upfronts — a luxury property reveal thrown by The Society Group — took over The Wallis in Beverly Hills on May 15. Held in the Bram Goldsmith Theater, the confab saw L.A.’s biggest power brokers gather to preview some of the world’s most luxurious listings coming to market.

“This is fun for me because usually I’m sitting in the audience where you’re sitting looking at a performance,” Carolwood’s Linda May noted, “so it’s really nice to look out and see so many friends here enjoying the theater.”

Despite a few technical Av hiccups, the Upfronts ran like clockwork, with exuberant presenters giving succinct pitches to an involved audience about new-to-market skyscraper penthouses in NYC, $100 million-plus mansions in L.A. and even Hollywood production studios. After his presentation, Fredrik Eklund even joked,...

Eklund Gomes Reveals $3.77B in Real Estate Sales in 2023 (Exclusive)
Image
In what may be the biggest numbers racked up by any real estate team in the United States in 2023 — a challenging year for residential sales across the country — the Eklund Gomes Team at Douglas Elliman tells The Hollywood Reporter exclusively that it closed $3.77 billion in deals last year.

The team, co-founded by Fredrik Eklund (former star of Bravo’s reality series Million Dollar Listing) and John Gomes, counts around 80 agents on its roster who work in celebrity-heavy markets in four states: New York, Florida, California and Texas.

Contributing to that $3.77 billion number is the fact that around 25 of Eklund Gomes Team’s agents made more than $1 million in commissions last year and “13 of our agents had better years in 2023 than they did in 2022,” says Eklund Gomes Team CEO Julia Spillman. Adds Eklund, “We’re proud.”

The team also excelled, true to form, in its sales of new development, including at...

Meet Maya, an AI Real Estate Expert Launched by Celebrity Agent Fredrik Eklund
Image
Real estate agents are already using ChatGPT to help write listing descriptions, while prop tech, short for property technology, is one of the hottest areas of development in the real estate world, from artificial intelligence-powered interior design generator ReImagine Home (which can be used by potential buyers to quickly envisage how a home could be remodeled) to Listing Showcase, a new immersive virtual viewing experience from Zillow (which has long used an algorithm to produce its Zestimate, its proprietary home-value estimator).

Now, as concerns mount that AI will replace jobs, the mega-selling Eklund | Gomes Team at Douglas Elliman — which did $4.6 billion in residential real estate deals in 2022 — is launching Maya, which it describes as an AI real estate expert that can provide tailored listing information drawn directly from property photos, continuously learn by active engagement with users, and act as a guide to everything from neighborhoods to the basics of real estate.

‘Brady Bunch’ House Sells for 42 Percent Under Asking Price
Image
Here’s the story …

Of a house called Brady …

Which just sold for 42 percent under its asking price in the latest example of the current real estate slump amid the highest mortgage rates in two decades …

Ok, so those lyrics don’t exactly flow, let alone rhyme. But that’s what happened to the famed Brady Bunch house (photos below), which just got snatched up for $3.2 million — $2.3 million off its $5.5 million asking price.

The 1959 Studio City home became iconic after its exterior was used for the 1969 sitcom. In 2018, HGTV purchased the house for $3.5 million and remodeled its exterior and interior to look exactly like the beloved series (the sitcom’s interior shots were filmed inside a studio).

Brady Bunch House

The new owner, Tina Trahan, plans to use the home for charity events and luxury rental. “It was a nostalgic purchase she just had to have,” says her agent at Douglas Elliman.

Mark Consuelos Talks Replacing Ryan Seacrest as Co-Host of ‘Live’ With Kelly Ripa, Marriage Counseling and Virtual Sex
Image
Welcome to this week’s “Just for Variety.”

Mark Consuelos doesn’t mind hand-me-downs from Ryan Seacrest. Consuelos tells me he’s inheriting Seacrest’s dressing room when “Live With Kelly and Ryan” becomes “Live With Kelly and Mark” on April 17. “I’m no dummy,” Consuelos says on this week’s episode of the “Just for Variety” podcast. “Ryan is very fancy — he’s got fancy stuff.”

At the same time it was announced in February that Seacrest was leaving “Live,” it was revealed that Consuelos will replace him as his wife Kelly Ripa’s co-host on the syndicated daytime talk show. “The first conversations started with like, ‘That is the worst idea ever,’”

Consuelos recalls. “Kelly and I were like, ‘Yeah, that’s insane. Why would we do that?’ Then I was like, ‘Well, I have filled in a lot over the past few years.’ She goes, ‘You have.

The Hollywood Reporter’s Inaugural Power Broker Awards Recognize Miami and Palm Beach’s Top Real Estate Agents
Image
On Jan. 17, the top power players in Miami and Palm Beach’s hot residential real estate market — where two estates topped the 100 million mark last year — arrived at the Baz Luhrmann-designed Faena Theater in Miami Beach. They were gathered for the inaugural South Florida iteration of The Hollywood Reporter’s signature real estate event, the Power Broker Awards, which honors top-selling star agents across three cultural capitals. The awards event, which The New Yorker has called “The Oscars but for Hollywood Real Estate,” debuted in Los Angeles in 2021 and New York in 2022.

The third city to reach these ranks, Miami earned its place in the proverbial sun for its desirable home market, where sale prices have skyrocketed in the last few years and such names as Tom Ford, Future, Cindy Crawford and Sylvester Stallone have all bought residences in the last few years. “All eyes are on Miami,” said the night’s emcee,...

Million Dollar Listing: New York: "Cancelled"; Bravo Series Not Returning for Season 10 Soon
Fredrik Eklund
Million Dollar Listing: New York is not returning to Bravo anytime soon. The cable channel has "paused" the series, per Variety, so there will not be a 10th season, at least not in the immediate future. Bravo prefers not to refer to a series as cancelled since the channel could revive it at some point in the future.

Million Dollar Listing: New York is a spin-off of Million Dollar Listing: Los Angeles. The New York series premiered in 2012, six years after the original series' debut. Million Dollar Listing: New York last aired on in May 2021 with the completion of a 16-episode ninth season.

Revolving around luxury real estate agents in New York, the ninth season of the reality series stars Fredrik Eklund, Ryan Serhant, Steve Gold, Tyler Whitman, and Kirsten Jordan.

‘Million Dollar Listing New York’ Gets Delisted After 9 Seasons on Bravo
Guerdy Abraira, Stephanie Shojaee, Lisa Hochstein, Alexia Nepola, Larsa Pippen, and Julia Lemigova in The Real Housewives of Miami (2011)
“Million Dollar Listing New York” has been delisted by Bravo, ending its nine-season run for the foreseeable future.

Bravo has put the New York edition of the franchise “on pause,” TheWrap has learned. The network had no comment.

By pausing the series, and not officially canceling it, the network leaves the door open for a possible return — as was the case when Peacock announced in 2021 that it was developing a “The Real Housewives of Miami” revival after the show stopped running regularly in 2014.

‘Million Dollar Listing New York’ on Pause at Bravo (Exclusive)
Image
“Million Dollar Listing New York” — a key installment in Bravo’s long-running real estate franchise — won’t be returning anytime soon, sources tell Variety. Bravo never uses the word “canceled,” instead considering series to be “paused,” since it sometimes brings shows back years later, as was the case with the revived “Real Housewives of Miami” on Peacock last year.

In the case of “Million Dollar Listing New York,” the network had no comment, but the current incarnation of the show is over.

The series is a spinoff of “Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles,” which premiered on Bravo in 2006. The “New York” version made its debut in 2012 and ran for nine seasons. Its most recent season — and last for now — followed the show’s brokers, including original cast members Ryan Serhant and Fredrik Eklund, as they waded through the tribulations of pre-and-mid-pandemic real estate in New York City. These Three New Buildings in NYC Are Chock-Full of Unique Amenities
Image
A person’s fancy often turns to thoughts of love in the spring. But in New York City, land of the multimillion-dollar one-bedroom apartment, it’s quite possible that real estate is even more important than love. (Sorry, Tennyson!) And in the Big Apple, more new developments launch in the springtime than any other season. So, let’s put aside the Rilke poems because spring has sprung and it’s show time for some of the city’s most gorgeous new buildings.

We’ve rounded up some of the most indulgent, mouth-watering residential options launching this spring in both Manhattan and Brooklyn. (Spoiler alert: it’s entirely possible that the best views are actually from Brooklyn.) All three buildings sport a laundry list of luxurious amenities, private members clubs, and top-of-the-line materials, such as leathered marble counters, suede Venetian plaster walls, and matte platinum fixtures.

These buildings have also got wellness options out the wazoo.

Million Dollar Listing (2006)
New coast, new problems. Million Dollar Listing star Fredrik Eklund has swapped coasts, and the real estate agent quickly learned that Los Angeles isn't always the City of Angels when it comes to competition. "I don't know what I expected," Fredrik tells his husband Derek Kaplan in this exclusive sneak peek at tomorrow's Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles episode, airing Sept. 9. "In New York, how it works, if you're a big agent, I fight sometimes with Ryan [Serhant] and Steve [Gold] and like other top agents, and we treat each other like friends, in a way."  Derek reasons, "Well, first of all, I think we've only just arrived, if you think about it....

Mdlla's Josh Altman Shades Fredrik Eklund's Move to L.A., Says He's Trying to "Stay Relevant"
Josh Altman
There's a million dollar turf war brewing. Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles star Josh Altman is teasing some big drama ahead when season 13 premieres tonight on Bravo. Now that Mdlny's Fredrik Eklund has made the move to the West Coast, not all his fellow agents are happy to have him on the L.A. real estate scene. "Fredrik's having a tough time in L.A.," Altman told E! News exclusively. "I think he thought he was just going to come into this market and just start selling a lot of real estate. I think he's going through the motions now for a couple of years, and it didn't turn out where he wanted it to be at this point. So I think he's kind of grabbing on to different things just...

Mara Brock Akil and Salim Akil Drop $13.8M on Grand Hancock Park Mansion
Image
It’s nowhere near the highest price ever paid for a single-family home in L.A.’s historic and historically hoity-toity Hancock Park neighborhood — that honor goes to a the baronial red-brick Tudor Nickelodeon president Brian Robbins sold in early 2020 for $19 million — but the recent $13.8 million sale of a fashionably rehabbed Italian Renaissance Revival-style mansion that anchors a prominent corner of the exclusive neighborhood does represent the to-date highest amount paid this year for a single-family home in that particularly fancy-pants part of town.

Completed in 1930, the grandly proportioned house was built for prominent L.A. developer Joseph A. DeBell — he gifted 100 acres to the city of Burbank in 1954, which he then developed into the DeBell Golf Course, and tax records show the nearly two-third-acre spread was sold by real estate developer and hospitality entrepreneur Lorenzo Boucetta and his wife Kaya Boucetta. Though the Boucettas, who bought the place in 2018 for $7.2 million,...

See Fredrik Eklund Move Into a Stunning $15 Million Penthouse on Mdlny
Fredrik Eklund
Work from home—literally! In an exclusive sneak peek at tomorrow's new Million Dollar Listing New York, airing July 15, broker Fredrik Eklund moves into a sprawling $15 million penthouse that he's looking to sell. The live-in sale situation is for a property at 80 E. 10th St. in Manhattan, and Fredrik is a little hesitant about getting too intimate with the property. "Living in a space that you're trying to sell, I mean, that's not a secret to anybody," Fredrik tells the camera. "That's weird. I don't like to show my own bathroom, I don't like to show my own clothes. It's strange but I've got to make the best out of it." Fredrik...

Getting into a hairy situation. Real estate super agent Fredrik Eklund has cornered the New York City property market and made his mark on Los Angeles real estate across the respective Million Dollar Listing franchises, but now Fredrik has to play the role of a new zoo tycoon.  In a hilarious clip from tomorrow's Million Dollar Listing New York episode on June 17, Fredrik might have his pickiest client yet: an alpaca named Bolero. From his Beverly Hills home across the country, Fredrik uses a robot to show Manhattan apartments remotely during the Covid-19 pandemic. Yet Fredrik is getting frustrated with the distance. "I mean to be honest with you, this robot is a little...

What Ryan Serhant & Fredrik Eklund Really Think of "Tough" Mdlny Newbie Kirsten Jordan
Ryan Serhant
Ryan Serhant and Fredrik Eklund may not see eye to eye on everything, but the Million Dollar Listing New York stars both can't help but gush over newcomer Kirsten Jordan. Kirsten is the first female real estate agent on the hit Bravo Big Apple franchise, and Fredrik and Ryan can't contain how much they adore working with the mother of three. "I'm very happy about her joining, thank god," Frederik exclusively revealed to E! News ahead of tonight's Mdlny season nine premiere. "I've been very vocal about that for years to have a woman, or multiple women actually. There's been enough testosterone."  From the teaser trailer, it's clear Kirsten has no problem...

Where Do Things Stand Between Mdlny Rivals Ryan Serhant & Fredrik Eklund Ahead of Season 9?
Fredrik Eklund
There are few reality TV feuds as fiery as the one between Million Dollar Listing New York's top agents Fredrik Eklund and Ryan Serhant. The dueling real estate brokers seem to have a lot in common: both Mdlny O.G.s dominate the Big Apple market, and are married fathers of toddlers. Yet for some reason, Fredrik and Ryan just can't see eye to eye. "God, I feel like we take one step forward and two steps backwards—three steps in this case," Fredrik exclusively told E! News ahead of the season nine premiere on May 6. "Ryan and I get into it, again, big time." So what sparked their latest disagreement? It seems to have to do with Fredrik balancing his...

Million Dollar Listing's Fredrik Eklund Shares His Latest Sobriety Milestone
Fredrik Eklund
Million Dollar Listing New York's Fredrik Eklund is synonymous with intensity. From dominating the real estate market in the Big Apple (and Miami and Los Angeles), the father of two was inclined to pause and reflect after a tumultuous 2020.  "It was a difficult year and a sad year," Eklund exclusively told E! News ahead of next week's Mdlny premiere. "But how it relates to my business was tricky because I had to go back and forth because I'm bicoastal...In a world where we were not even allowed to do real estate showings, we had to be creative there and push the envelope." ‘Million Dollar Listing New York’ Gets Season 9 Premiere Date – and Its First Female Broker (Exclusive)
Million Dollar Listing New York (2012)
Break up the boys club. When “Million Dollar Listing New York” returns to Bravo on May 6 for Season 9, the show’s first female broker, Kirsten Jordan, will join the series, TheWrap has learned. Jordan’s debut episode will have a supersized runtime of 75 minutes.

We can also unveil the Season 9 trailer — watch that via the video above.

As you’ll see in the trailer, the New York City mass exodus is in full swing due to the coronavirus pandemic. And for some reason, there’s a llama in a luxury apartment. (Or is it an alpaca? We can never keep those two straight.)

Plus, Ryan Serhant and Fredrik Eklund are fighting like llamas and alpacas. (We’re sure some of them fight — they can’t all be friends.)

But back to the new star of the pretty old (at this point) show. Kirsten Jordan is a top-selling agent at her...

Travis Scott Buys $23.5 Million Brentwood Mansion
Image
Though he famously references the exclusive community of Hidden Hills on his song “Butterfly Effect,” it seems Houston-born rapper, reigning sneaker tycoon and Fortnite record-smasher Jacques Webster — better known as Travis Scott — would rather live in L.A.’s Brentwood neighborhood, where he’s dropped $23.5 million on a colossal hilltop house with panoramic views over the entire city, and where some of his nearest neighbors include LeBron James and Petra Ecclestone.

Designed and built on speculation by the father-and-daughter team of De Loren & Associates, the 16,700 sq. ft. beast of a mansion packs in 7 bedrooms and 11 bathrooms into three full floors of ultra-contemporary living space. But unlike most other contemporary mansions, the home’s architecture is not your typical lego-like box; rather, it’s wrapped in smoothly curvaceous sheetmetal that was meant to evoke the lines of “a modern yacht,” per listing materials.

Initially offered last summer with a $42 million pricetag,...

Hollywood’s most famous dogs on TV

Giggy, “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Lisa Vanderpump’s Pomeranian, is perhaps one of TV’s most pampered pups, with his own personal chef and Twitter account. He has become such a fan favorite that he now makes his own red carpet appearances, rich owner in tow.

Gidget, the 12-pound chihuahua known for the ubiquitous catchphrase, “Yo quiero Taco Bell!” was propelled to stardom after landing the lucrative fast-food campaign in the late ’90s. She also starred as Bruiser’s mom in 2003’s “Legally Blonde 2” alongside Reese Witherspoon.

Brigitte, a five-year-old French bulldog “actress,” best known for her role as Stella on ABC’s hit comedy “Modern Family,” won Best Dog in a Television Series at the inaugural Golden Collar Awards in 2012. Yes, that’s a thing.

Million Dollar Listing New York season 8: When are the agents returning to Bravo?
Million Dollar Listing New York has become one of Bravo’s biggest hits in the Million Dollar Listing franchise. Even though the Los Angeles show was the original one, the New York show quickly proved that it could compete with the best. Since the New York show premiered back in 2012, Miami and San Francisco versions have also filmed and aired on Bravo, though with no renewals. Million Dollar Listing New York has just wrapped its 7th season, wrapping up another 12-episode season on September 4th. The show currently follows Fredrik Eklund, Ryan Serhant, and Steve Gold. Ryan and Fredrik have been […]

Bethenny and Fredrik season 2: Will the show return to Bravo?
Bethenny Frankel and Fredrik Eklund teamed up for a spin-off show, where the two combined their passions – remodeling an apartment and selling it to excited buyers. Bethenny, who is best known for her role on The Real Housewives of New York, and Fredrik, who is on Million Dollar Listing New York, are actually friends in real life. While teaming up for the show appeared to be a good idea, it was clear that Fredrik didn’t always enjoy being on the receiving end of Frankel’s demands. Even during the first season of the show, you could feel the tension between […]

Steve Gold net worth: How rich is Mdlny star in 2018?
Steve Gold joined Million Dollar Listing New York in 2017 during the show’s sixth season. Unlike Ryan Serhant and Fredrik Eklund, who have filmed the show since the very beginning, Steve joined rather late. He replaced Luis Dr. Ortiz, who felt that he had to leave real-estate behind to focus on other ventures. Because Steve didn’t film Million Dollar Listing: New York for years, his net worth isn’t thought to be as high as that of his co-stars. Steve Gold’s net worth is reported to be around $10 million, which is significantly lower than Eklund’s estimated $30million. But he’s certainly not struggling, and […]
