Warning: Spoilers for Superwoman Special #1 and Superman #21The Super-Family includes some of the most powerful heroes in the DC Universe, and they just got a major new member with the reveal that Superman's beloved wife Lois Lane has just gained her very own set of Kryptonian powers. Comic books are full of strange and surprising situations, but the way Lois Lane gained these incredible powers is more surprising than most superhero origin stories.
One of the biggest events of last year was Absolute Power by Mark Waid and Dan Mora, which ultimately gave rise to the Superman Family's newest powered hero - who just so happens to be one of their oldest characters, seeing as Lois Lane debuted alongside Superman in Action Comics #1 by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.

Wonder Woman Has a Lot of Friends, But DC Is Putting All Eyes on Her Connection With... Plastic Man?
Warning: Spoilers for Batman: The Brave and the Bold (2023) #20 and Plastic Man No More! (2024) ahead!
When readers imagine the ideal partner for a Wonder Woman team-up, their minds might immediately go to some of DC's most powerful figures – rather than the perpetual goof-up that is Plastic Man. However, the conclusion to their latest two-part adventure has a surprising amount of heart, showing that the Amazon princess of Themiscyra and the shapeshifting ex-convict actually share a lot in common.
Batman: The Brave and the Bold (2023) #20 contains the story, "Man's Underworld, Part 2" – written by Dave Weilgosz, with art by Nikola Čižmešija – in which Plastic Man and Wonder Woman successfully retrieve Wonder Woman's Lasso of Truth from Roulette's black market auction. Plastic Man abruptly loses his powers when he comes into contact with the Lasso, prompting a painfully honest heart-to-heart between the heroes.

Warning: Spoilers for Superwoman Special #1
Lois Lane has officially taken to the skies as DC's new Superwoman, and Superman is no longer the only one with Kryptonian powers in their relationship. However, while they now boast similar skill-sets, Lois has one critical weakness that sets her apart from Clark. Superwoman's surprising weakness hints that she isn't quite on Superman's level yet, though she won't let that stop her from becoming a hero.
Superwoman shows off her newfound powers in Superwoman Special #1 by Joshua Williamson, Edwin Galmon, Laura Braga, Nikola Čižmešija, Rex Lokus, and Dave Sharpe. Lois assembles her own Kryptonian team with Supergirl and fellow Superwoman Lana Lang, and as the three discuss her abilities, she admits that there's one feat she can't accomplish: "I wasn't faster than a speeding bullet."
Superman may be one of the fastest characters in the DC Universe, but Lois Lane's Superwoman hasn't achieved his speed just yet.

Warning: Spoilers for Batman and Robin 2024 Annual #1!
The formula that created Robin 84 years ago still works for the latest Robin, Damian Wayne. Robin stories often follow a formula of the young hero stumbling upon a mystery or crime to solve. This storytelling choice connects all the Robins and allows each new Robin to earn their stripes.
The formula that created Robin 84 years ago continues to work 84 years later for anyone else who carries the mantle. When Dick Grayson made his on-panel debut in 1940, he was crafted as a surrogate for child audiences to view Batman's stories from a more relatable perspective. Even in his solo stories from the Bronze Age, Robin's adventures were framed as a teenager stumbling on to a mystery.
The formula continues to be an apt tool to tell stories about the Boy Wonder — as seen in the Damian Wayne-led story from Batman and Robin 2024 Annual #1 by Joshua Williamson and Howard Porter.

The Gotham War comes to an end, but the true winner is the Batman of Zur-En-Arrh, who successfully severs Batman from his allies. Batman's backup personality, Zur-En-Arrh, has been controlling him throughout the war, leading to increasingly rash actions and isolating Batman from those who could help him. Batman is now more vulnerable than ever, as he is left alone without Catwoman or the Bat-Family to protect him from the influence of Zur-En-Arrh.
The Gotham War has ended almost as suddenly as it began, but neither Batman nor Catwoman's side has won in the end. Instead, victory goes to the puppet master orchestrating things all along: not Vandal Savage, but rather the Batman of Zur-En-Arrh, who has finally succeeded in severing Batman from the last of his allies.

As the Gotham War continues, Red Hood is resolutely throwing his weight behind Catwoman, betraying Batman in favor of training Gotham's criminals to be more skilled, and therefore take fewer lives. Selina Kyle's plan to save Gotham is underway, and while the Dark Knight has made it his mission to shut her down, not all of his family agree - particularly Jason Todd. However, now Red Hood claims that he doesn't actually have Selina's faith in Gotham's criminals.
In a preview of Matthew Rosenberg and Nikola Čižmešija's Batman/Catwoman: The Gotham War – Red Hood #1, Jason trains Selina's newly recruited goons. However, while she wants them to increase their skills so that they no longer need to work for the city's supervillains, Jason claims that he expects the plan to fail, and is involved just to gather information on his new 'trainees' so that when they take a life in future,...

The Teen Titans have had various looks throughout the years, but artist Nikola Čižmešija recently posted anime-inspired redesigns for Cyborg, Starfire, Donna Troy and Raven in some truly remarkable fanart.
Hailing from Croatia, Čižmešija has been slowly making a name for himself over the last few years. After drawing some stories in Batman: Urban Legends and Future State:Gotham, the artist recently completed the Sword of Azrael miniseries, in which he got to show the full range of his anime and manga-inspired art in a series of intricately-designed pages. The artist is also active on Instagram, showing off fan designs and other artwork, which is where Nikola Čižmešija recently posted his unofficial Teen Titans redesigns. Even more impressive, Čižmešija also took the time to create all-new, visually-impressive approaches to each hero’s unique power-set. The way that the artist interprets these powers looks ready-made for some high-octane anime series, as the...

An upcoming war in Gotham is going to pit Red Hood against Batman and his allies. As Catwoman launches a war to take back the city, Jason Todd is being set up to stab the Bat-Family in the back.
Since Jason Todd came back from the dead, he's occasionally been at odds with Batman and the other heroes of Gotham. As Red Hood, Jason was lethal in his crusades against crime, often earning him scorn from his family. But he tried to rein in his violent impulses and abide by the family's no-kill code. Unfortunately, Jason's past with the Joker has always brought out his worst instincts. In Joker: The Man Who Stopped Laughing, Red Hood was warned that Batman was losing patience with Jason, only for the young man to give in to his dark side and shoot the Joker (though it was only Clayface pretending to be...
