A Rubik's Cube Movie and Game Show Are Happening
Image
A Rubik's Cube movie and game show are on the way from Ashok Amritraj's Hyde Park Entertainment Group and Endeavor Content. The iconic puzzle was invented and introduced in 1974 by Hungarian sculptor and professor of architecture, Erno Rubik. It was originally called the Magic Cube and Rubik came up with the idea while working for the Department of Interior Design at the Academy of Applied Arts and Crafts in Budapest. It was originally believed that the puzzle was invented to help students understand 3D objects, though that was an unintended outcome.

Erno Rubik originally invented the Rubik's Cube to figure out a structural problem of moving the parts independently without the entire mechanism falling apart. It was only when he tried to put the invention back together that he realized that he had made a puzzle game. The upcoming Rubik's Cube movie will be about Professor Erno Rubik's toy and...

‘The Wall’ Renewed For Season 4 At NBC
Image
NBC has renewed non-scripted competition series The Wall for a fourth season.

The network has handed the show, which will see Chris Hardwick return as host, a 20-episode run.

This comes as it scheduled the three remaining episodes of the third season, which launched in March. The final episodes will air on October 1, October 21 and October 28 at 8pm.

Executive produced by LeBron James, Maverick Carter, Andrew Glassman and Hardwick, the game features two-person teams related by family, friendship or life experience competing for a cash prize. If a question is answered correctly a green ball falls down the five-story wall, adding the value of the slot to the players’ winning total. If it’s wrong, a red ball will fall and deduct the value from the team. With more than $13 million on the line, teammates have to work together to build a huge cash prize.

‘The Wall’ Renewed for Season 4 at NBC
Image
NBC is adding another big brick to its wall.

The network has renewed “The Wall” for a 20-episode fourth season. Chris Hardwick will return as host for season 4, and sources confirm that the three remaining episodes of the previous season will now air Oct. 1, Oct. 21 and Oct. 28 in the 8 p.m. time slot.

Executive produced by LeBron James, Maverick Carter, Andrew Glassman, and host Hardwick, “The Wall” premiered in 2016, with contestants competing for a grand prize each episode of more than $13 million.

The titular wall itself is four-stories high, and the rules are simple: Get a question correct, and a green ball will fall down the wall and add the value of the slot to the players’ winning total. Miss a question, and an ominous red ball with fall and deduct the value from the teams’ total. Teammates have to work together to build a huge cash prize.

‘The Wall’: Danny Dyer Game Show Poised To Shift Production From Poland To UK Amid Coronavirus
Image
Exclusive: BBC One’s Danny Dyer-fronted game show The Wall is set to be filmed in the UK instead of Poland, as a growing number of British producers look to switch to domestic production to keep shows on track during the coronavirus crisis.

Deadline understands that Endemol Shine Group producer Remarkable Television is drawing up plans to shoot Season 2 of The Wall at a studio in the UK, rather than at the group’s production hub in Warsaw where the first series was made.

It comes as the UK government is warning against “all but essential international travel,” while Poland is restricting the number of people allowed to enter the country and new arrivals are expected to quarantine for two weeks.

Remarkable’s plans are yet to be finalized, but a source said Elstree Studios is one potential option under consideration given its track record in hosting ambitious entertainment shows,...

Fox Reality Chief Rob Wade On Future Of ‘So You Think You Can Dance’, ‘Mental Samurai’ & ‘First Responders Live’ As He Crosses Fingers For ‘Flirty Dancing’
Fox is weighing the future of its non-scripted schedule as series including So You Think You Can Dance, Mental Samurai and First Responders Live remain on the bubble.

The network is still plotting its summer schedule, and president of Alternative and Specials Rob Wade is confident that the “right shows will come back.”

So You Think You Can Dance, which is hosted by Brit Cat Deeley, aired its 16th season in June 2019. Wade said the future of the evergreen format has not been impacted by the order for The Masked Singer spinoff The Masked Dancer or Flirty Dancing.

“The Masked Singer and Dancer feel like very different shows to the classic singing and dancing shows so there’s enough room in the schedule. Look at how many police dramas and medical there are. There are certain genres like singing, dancing and cooking where you can have lots of different types of formats,...

"I Heard You Eat Gator": Cmt's "Sweet Home Alabama"
The fact that the woman who has 20 bachelors vying for her affection in the Cmt reality series "Sweet Home Alabama" is not actually an Alabamian says it all. No, 20-year-old Devin Grissom is from Cordova, Tenn., outside Memphis, where she attended a private Christian grade school. The blue-eyed blonde had her moments in the pageant circuit, landing the honor of representing Tennessee for the 2007 Teen Miss America's Outstanding Teen Pageant, and has modeled. And now, she's a junior at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, a fact that qualifies her to star in "Sweet Home Alabama." She was, after all, discovered on Facebook by producers who were "just looking for a specific type of Southern woman," Grissom told The Tuscaloosa News.

She's a type, all right, sweet but lacking a distinct personality. Having someone so young serve as the countryfied "Bachelorette" is one of many mind-boggling and -numbing decisions made by the showrunners.
