James Gunn is cooking up something big. And no, it’s not just another Guardians of the Galaxy mixtape, it’s an entirely new DC Universe, and this time, he’s bringing in the Teen Titans. If you thought The Suicide Squad was chaotic, wait until you see what happens when you throw a group of superpowered, angsty teenagers into the mix.
With Ana Nogueira penning the script, it’s safe to say we’re in for something fresh. The Teen Titans have always been a fan-favorite team, blending action, heart, and the kind of interpersonal drama that would make even reality TV producers take notes. But now that the movie is officially in development, it’s time to ask the big question, who’s playing who?

The following contains spoilers for Paddington in Peru.
He might be locked up, but Paddington in Peru couldn't resist a surprise appearance from an old foe. Following the movie's release, director Dougal Wilson explained how its mid-credits scene came together, briefly reuniting Paddington Bear with Paddington 2 villain Phoenix Buchanan (Hugh Grant) after his latest adventure concluded.
While Buchanan's incarceration made linking him to Paddington in Peru tricky, the screenwriters found a way through the film's ending where Paddington introduces the bears he met in Peru to London's sights, creating an opening to see him again in prison. "I thought it was a very Paddington reconciliatory thing to do to go. Meet his nemesis from the second film," Wilson told Entertainment Weekly. "Wouldn't it be fun if Paddington was the one visiting with his bear tribe, and they were visiting Phoenix because Paddington's forgiven Phoenix?"

For years, Cobra Kai kept fans entertained as it revived the legendary Karate Kid rivalry for a new generation. Each season brought fresh conflicts and thrilling martial arts battles that made it a standout hit on Netflix. But as the final season arrived, something unexpected happened as the show quickly slipped from Netflix’s Top 10 instead of dominating the charts as many had predicted.

Its position was taken over by the reality show Love Is Blind Season 8, which drew massive viewership and kept audiences hooked. This surprising shift left many wondering if fans had lost interest in Cobra Kai or if Netflix’s approach to releasing the final season was to blame.

After six seasons across two different streaming platforms, Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence’s (William Zabka) story has come to an epic conclusion. The final episodes of the Karate Kid sequel series are now streaming on Netflix.
Cobra Kai, which initially followed the rivalry between Larusso’s Miyagi-Do and the titular dojo, developed into a series with all sorts of intense rivalries and romances, some great and some plain shocking. Off-screen, it seems another romance has blossomed, and the episode ended with a question down on one knee. It looks like there will be a Cobra Kai wedding, as TAnner Buchanan and Mary Mouser announced on Instagram that they are engaged to be married.

The Night Agent Season 2 has added more strong female characters to the Netflix series. Not only does Luciane Buchanan return as Rose Larkin, but Amanda Warren and Arienne Mandi join the cast as Catherine Weaver and Noor Taheri, respectively. Each one of these women has a different part to play in the international conflict, but they all make an impact on the viewer.

The Night Agent might look a little different in the future, according to Shawn Ryan, the creator of the hit Netflix original series.
Heading into The Night Agent season 2, which just premiered on Thursday, Jan. 23, Variety profiled Gabriel Basso, who stars as Peter Sutherland, the lead character in The Night Agent. In the interview, Basso revealed his plans to leave acting behind sooner rather than later. Ryan followed up with a massive reveal that the show could continue without Peter Sutherland as the focus should Basso choose to leave the profession behind.
Here's what Ryan told Variety:
"How long does Gabriel want to do the show? The show is called ‘The Night Agent.’ It’s not called ‘The Gabriel Basso Show.’ So there may be a time when he decides he wants to do something else, and there’s a different night agent.”

In The Night Agent Season 2, a bigger conspiracy is unfolding. Season 1 had Gabriel Basso's Peter Sutherland stopping a domestic terrorist plot. However, Season 2 pulls Peter into an international scandal, and has to stop a chemical attack in New York.
Peter also learns there are foreign players manipulating his world, but luckily, he has his beloved Rose Larkin to help out. Gabriel Basso and Luciane Buchanan are back in The Night Agent season 2, which just premiered on Netflix on Jan. 23. And, after their characters, Peter Sutherland and Rose Larkin, saved the day in the jaw-dropping finale in The Night Agent season 1, there aren't many cast members or characters from season 1 who return for season 2.

She returned the favor in Season 2, saving Peter’s life multiple times after she successfully tracked him down in a matter of hours, something the FBI had failed to do for weeks.
In the New York-set second season, Rose got to do some spy stuff: she went undercover to a reception at the Iranian embassy to copy sensitive documents, helped with Night Action research and surveillance, assisted a professor in making a chemical weapon and then helped Peter neutralize it, saving thousands of lives.
While dealing with her own trauma from the events in Season 1, she also emerged as the season’s moral compass,...

After two great seasons of The Night Agent on Netflix, it's hard to imagine anyone other than Gabriel Basso and Luciane Buchanan taking down bad guys and saving the day as Peter Sutherland and Rose Larkin.
Yet, that's what almost happened, according to executive producer and creator Shawn Ryan. The series almost picked another well-known actress to play Rose in season 1. Plot: Based on the novel by Matthew Quirk, The Night Agent is a sophisticated, character-based, action-thriller centering on a low level FBI Agent , Peter Sutherland, whose efforts to save The President in Season 1 earn him an opportunity to become a Night Agent in Season 2. Despite the series being one of the most viewed on the streaming giant, I was one of the few to stand up to power by giving the first season of The Night Agent a lousy review. The series received an alarming amount of praise only because the finale finally showed some energy that the previous nine episodes sorely lacked.
However, the second season, streaming on Netflix on January 23rd, never builds on that momentum. It has less intrigue and stagnant action and still suffers from a lack of chemistry between the leads—not to mention more eye-rolling plot shifts designed to move the story along, which still do not work in The Night Agent’s second season.

Since its Netflix debut on January 9, American Primeval has been making headlines as one of the most brutal, gritty must-watch Western sagas ever to grace our television screens.
Taking place in 1857 Utah, the series follows fugitive mother Sara Roswell (Betty Gilpin) and her son Devin (Preston Mota) as they navigate the lawless terrain with their guide, Isaac Reed (Taylor Kitsch). It depicts the bloody, violent collision of early American settlers with indigenous tribes, cultists, religion, bounty hunters, the U.S. government, and ruthless ole Mother Nature herself.
In the wake of its success, questions abound as to whether the story is based on actual events. The answer, my dear friends, is yes, American Primeval is based on the true and deadly story of the Mountain Meadows Massacre. It also portrays real-life people. Director Peter Berg said he found inspiration for American Primeval in 2020 after reading a story about the Utah War.

American Primeval takes place within the years of the Utah War, and here is everything you need to know about the real-life war behind the Netflix Western miniseries, explained. Although there have been all kinds of movies and TV shows about the various wars that the United States has been involved in throughout its history, the Utah War is one of the lesser-known ones. However, American Primeval has decided to shine some light on the series of domestic conflicts, with it using the war between Mormons and the U.S. government as the backdrop for its Western story.
American Primeval is one of the most exciting Netflix shows of 2025, with the series coming from director Peter Berg and The Revenant writer Mark L. Smith. The series follows Sara Rowell and her son as they attempt to trek across the frontier in order to find Sara's husband, with them trying to find...

Warning: Spoilers ahead for American Primeval.
Netflix's epic period Western series American Primeval is based on a handful of real-life events and historical figures with some altered details. American Primeval is a new major Western streaming series that was released on Netflix on January 9, 2025. The series takes place on the frontier of the American West in 1857, particularly in the somewhat lawless terrain of Utah. The grim, violent, chaotic, and unforgiving American Primeval shows early American settlers, cultists, and indigenous tribes as murderers and survivors in a series of gruesome fights for control of the newly found territory.
American Primeval was written by Mark L. Smith, who co-wrote the screenplay for The Revenant with Alejandro G. Iñárritu. In fact, there are many stylistic similarities between The Revenant and American Primeval in both narrative and visual techniques. Peter Berg directs all six episodes of American Primeval. American Primeval, the new Netflix original Western series from Mark L. Smith and Peter Berg, begins in the Utah Territory in 1857. A mother, Sara Rowell (Betty Gilpin), and her young son, Devin (Preston Mota), are waiting for transport in Nowhere, Missouri to meet up with Devin's father. They've hired help for a wagon ride to Fort Bridger, where they will head further West to Crooks Springs with a different party. Quickly, things go way off the rails.
That's the norm for this new Netflix series, which is probably the most violent and gory series you'll see all year. At Fort Bridger, Sara and Devin's transport is already gone, and things go from bad to worse quickly as a fight breaks out and two men are killed while Sara is talking to Mr. Bridger (Shea Whigham) about arranging another passage. This is no place for a child.

Letterboxd, the cinephile social platform that’s become perhaps the most effective tool for independent film in a landscape where moviegoers are hard to reach, hit 17 million members in 2024.
That’s a big jump from 11.4 million at the end of 2023 and 1.8 million in 2020, according to the New Zealand-based platform’s 2024 Year In Review published today.
A new member joins Letterboxd every five seconds, it said of the hub for film fans to discover, discuss and share favorites. In 2024, those members wrote 96.4 million reviews, marked 701 million films watched, and made 6.8 million lists, a popular feature.
Perhaps most importantly, it’s a now a key driver of the indie box office with distributors frequently citing Letterboxd when opening a film theatrically. A24 gave a shout-out to the platform for the strong limited debut of Brady Corbet’s Golden Globe winning The Brutalist in December.

“Black Doves,” Netflix’s latest thriller series, has it all. The dialogue is both clever and funny. There’s lots of political intrigue and Keira Knightley hasn’t been this action star since “Domino.” The award-winning actor Ben Whishaw is awesome as usual and there is one (literally) bloody shocking twist after another.
The setting is London during the Christmas holidays where Helen (Knightley) is married to UK Secretary of Defense Wallace Webb (Andrew Buchan), the mother of adorable fraternal twins and unbeknownst to Wallace, a spy feeding much of what goes on at 10 Downing Street to secret intel group, Black Doves. Helen’s information has been “lucrative” according to her handler. As is the case with these types of plots, when something goes very wrong and threatens to expose Helen, her long-time ‘Dove’ conspirator Sam (Whishaw) is sent in to help.

Casting young Haymitch for Sunrise on the Reaping movie presents a challenge due to discrepancies with the books' description. Fan-cast actors like Tanner Buchanan and Tom Glynn-Carney resemble Woody Harrelson, but may not match Haymitch's Seam look. Lionsgate must decide between staying true to the books' themes about classism or casting an actor who resembles Harrelson.
A new actor will have to be cast to play young Haymitch in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, but common fan castings reveal Lionsgate's challenge in this task. The upcoming Hunger Games movie will be set during the 50th Hunger Games, the year District 12's Haymitch Abernathy was victor. This is, of course, exciting, and Hunger Games fans are already abuzz about who should play the 16-year-old version of Woody Harrelson's character. The problem is that many of the suggested actors don't work with the books' description of Haymitch

Olivia Colman's character in Paddington 3 connects back to Hugh Grant's villain, adding an intriguing twist to the franchise. Appearance of a nun in the trailer hints at a potential link to a past joke, adding depth to the upcoming film's story. Colman's role as a possible villain in Paddington 3 would be unexpected, given her helpful demeanor in the trailer.
Olivia Colman's Paddington In Peru character features prominently in the film's trailer, creating a surprising connection to Hugh Grant's villain from the previous installment in the franchise. One of the most versatile and celebrated performers working in Hollywood, Colman's involvement in Paddington 3 is an exciting development for the franchise. However, while the precise nature of her character is unclear from the Paddington In Peru trailer, aspects of the role have already revealed some important details.

Tanner Buchanan would be an amazing Tommy Oliver in a Power Rangers reboot. Buchanan's performance as Robby Keene in Cobra Kai proves he would make a great Green Ranger. It's unclear whether Power Rangers will ever reboot Mmpr for TV, but if so, Tommy would naturally join the story eventually.
One Green Ranger fancast is too perfect not to happen should Power Rangers ever revisit Tommy Oliver’s early years. Without considering stand-in performers and much younger versions of the character, Power Rangers’ Tommy Oliver was never played by another actor other than the late Jason David Frank in any movies or TV shows. While Power Rangers (2017) rebooted the show for the big screen with a new cast, Tommy was only referenced in the film’s post-credits scene and was never cast. Still, there should be other opportunities for Power Rangers to revisit the original Green Ranger.

Donald Trump became the 45th president of the United States on a promise to “Make America Great Again.” But a preeminent group of political scientists that Trump would no doubt characterize as “haters and losers” has once again ranked him as the worst commander-in-chief in the nation’s history.

Since its founding in 2011, Letterboxd has carved out a niche as a social platform for cinephiles. Now it wants to use that platform to get people off their computers and back to movie theaters.
The film discussion and review platform is adding showtimes for paid patron members in the U.S., U.K., Ireland, Australia, Canada and New Zealand, letting users see where the movies they are reading about are playing near them. The feature is available to patron members now, and will roll out to all members on Christmas Eve.
“Showtimes have long been on our radar as something we’d like to offer to our members—another way of making Letterboxd the one place they come when selecting what to watch next. We de-prioritized the feature somewhat over Covid, as seeing films in theaters was not top of mind!” says Letterboxd co-founder Matthew Buchanan. “Now that audiences are returning to cinemas,...

Exclusive: Nashville’s famed Bluebird Cafe, the renowned songwriter-friendly venue that gave an early musical home to Taylor Swift, Garth Brooks, Faith Hill and many other country and pop stars, is getting the stage musical treatment. When not even Gerri can keep herself from being washed away by the “tsunami” of “Barbie” marketing that has flooded the cultural discourse over the last two months, it’s clear a major movie event is afoot. But until Sunday night, following the “Barbie” premiere in Los Angeles, any kind of critical reaction to Greta Gerwig’s latest feature – her third film as a solo director – has been absent. So what’s the early word from those lucky enough to attend the lavish debut event?

The actor taking on Dexter Morgan has big shoes to fill in the Dexter prequel, but there are a handful of contenders for the role. While it will feel jarring to have anyone other than Michael C. Hall portraying the psychopath, with the right casting, young Dexter can pay homage to the original character while becoming the perfect prequel.
Dexter Morgan is a serious character who is often unemotional and detached from others. Plus, Dexter is a secret serial killer, so the right casting will make Dexter’s transition to killing humans feel natural. Based on previous roles, these are the best contenders to be young Dexter Morgan in the Dexter prequel.

The Night Agent follows FBI Agent Peter Sutherland, Gabriel Basso, as he dives headfirst into a conspiracy of a Russian mole among government officials and is put in charge of protecting cybersecurity expert Rose Larkin, Luciane Buchanan, after her family is murdered.
In an exclusive interview with uInterview, Basso and Buchanan revealed how they created the chemistry before shooting the show.
“We went bungee jumping,” Buchanan said.
“Yeah, the first day – so I was driving up to Vancouver and I called her before we had officially met, and I just asked her if she wanted to go bungee jumping so I think it was bonding through trauma,” Basso joked.
Buchanan continued, “I said no like three times and I was like, ‘ok, fine’ and like the whole time we drove to Whistler and Vancouver I was not listening to anything you were saying I was just like, ‘I’m going to jump off a bridge.

Hong Chau — the Oscar-nominated actor, who’s appeared in “The Whale,” “The Menu,” and “Downsizing” — is an interesting element on Netflix’s new series “The Night Agent,” and a revealing one. To cast Chau, a gifted and hardworking performer who’s been elevating projects for years, is to announce a certain ambition. Here, she’s playing the determined White House Chief of Staff, a figure close to the heart of various intrigues on a political thriller with schlock in its DNA. And yet she does it so elegantly, so excellently that she elevates the whole thing.
So it is with “The Night Agent,” created by Shawn Ryan of “The Shield,” and based on a novel by Matthew Quirk. Here, Gabriel Basso (who played the future U.S. Senator J.D. Vance in the film “Hillbilly Elegy”) stars as Peter Sutherland, whose employment at the FBI is at such a low level that...

Together, they’ll continue to craft a nonfiction slate off the heels of Proximity’s critically acclaimed Sundance titles Stephen Curry: Underrated and Homeroom. Buchanan, Nicks and Kalia King, EVP, Television, will also work together across Proximity’s television projects.
“We are thrilled to welcome Kelli to the nonfiction team here at Proximity,” said Nicks. “She is an exciting talent who has the kind of industry experience, curiosity and perspective that will energize us even more as we continue our mission of bringing audiences closer to stories that will not only entertain, but resonate with authenticity, cultural power, and artistic excellence.
