Biography

He is an actor known for his versatility, having played a variety of roles and particularly excelling at portraying complex and realistic characters. His film debut was his leading role in Leo's Room (2009) by Enrique Buchichio, which premiered during the San Sebastian International Film Festival. For this work he received several awards including the Uruguayan Film Critics Association Award for Best Actor and Best Male Newcomer, Best Actor at the Del Mar Festival - Ibiza, Spain and Best Actor at the DE la Luna Festival, Spain.

In 2014, he starred in Enrique Buchichio's film Zanahoria (2013), which won the Colón DE Oro, the highest award, at the 40th edition of the Huelva Ibero-American Film Festival.

After participating in numerous film productions in Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay he starred next to Sofia Vergara in a supporting role in the Netflix original limited series "Griselda"(2024) where he plays the well-known Mano empapar Si Asiático of Griselda Blanco.

His performance earns the recognition of the audience and many specialized media such as Variety who said: "However, Martín Rodríguez's turn as Jorge "Rivi" Ayala-Rivera, a top-hitter in Miami, is one of the most mesmerizing performances of a criminal mastermind on TV recently. In the city of Cannes in the month of May he was recognized with the "Industry Excellence Award" by the French Riviera Film Festival, Directed by Nicole Muj, premiering the short film "Quimera" by Tomas Vergara which occurred alongside the Cannes International Film Festival.

He recently finished filming a new series created by Sebastian Ortega and produced by Tele Mundo "Barro", which is a spin off of the well-known series El Marginal, which will premiere next year on the Netflix platform.
