I'm Sorry, But There Was A Better Original Than Klaus In The Vampire Diaries

The Originals were a vital part of The Vampire Diaries -- the ultimate antagonists who challenged the Mystic Falls gang in their own unique ways. From the moment I saw them on the show, I knew that we were in for a wild ride with the first vampires to ever walk the earth, especially because they were targeting Elena directly. However, the pedestalization of Klaus Mikaelson over the rest of his siblings is something that has always vexed me, as I am convinced that there was a better Original than the hybrid.

Klaus was considered extremely powerful and unpredictable because he was both, a vampire and werewolf, which made him one of a kind. That said, I firmly believe that his sister,...

When Tom Cruise Turned Down Steven Spielberg’s Offer To Be Cast As Zorro Because Of This Reason: “Not A Great Idea”
Image
Why Did Tom Cruise Turnn Down The Role Of Steven Spielberg’s Zorro? (Photo Credit – Koimoi)

Tom Cruise almost became Zorro, but even he knew it wasn’t the right call. Before Antonio Banderas put on the mask in The Mask of Zorro, Cruise was on Steven Spielberg’s radar for the role. And while Hollywood’s ultimate action star has taken on almost every daredevil gig, this one didn’t make the cut – for a surprisingly bold reason.

Cinematographer Mikael Salomon, who was once attached to direct The Legend of Zorro, revealed the surprising casting consideration while speaking in an interview with Slash Film for the 25th anniversary of The Mask of Zorro. According to Salomon, Spielberg, an executive producer on the film, had Cruise in mind for Don Alejandro de la Vega.

But Salomon saw trouble ahead. “He wanted to offer it to Tom Cruise,” he said during...

‘All The Lost Ones’ Ending Explained & Full Story: Is Nia Dead Or Alive?
Image
While spreading hatred and fighting over life choices, ethnicity, class, and other social dividers, we have forgotten to address what the real issues are, i.e., environmental degradation aggravated by our actions, which threatens the existence of not only humanity but life on this blue planet as we know it. Not only do we choose to be deliberately ignorant and delude ourselves into thinking it will not affect us, we deny the truth and are even prepared to wage war to uphold a flawed, pathetic belief system. MacKenzie Donaldson’s dystopian survival drama, All the Lost Ones, offers a glimpse into the horrifying future we are headed towards through a narrative that paints ecological collapse in the backdrop of a conflict that emphasizes the age-old realization: the existence of humankind as a species is indeed the worst crisis of all.

The Worst Things Klaus Did in The Vampire Diaries
Image
Of all the villains in The Vampire Diaries, Klaus was a universal favorite. He was cool, charismatic, and shared an alluring dynamic with characters like Caroline and Stefan, but fans tended to forget that he was a ruthless character. For all of his charms, Klaus exhibited merciless behavior very often, and some of the things he did to the Mystic Falls gang were horrifying.

Being thousands of years old and an Original, it seemed as though Klaus had forgotten empathy. He was innately selfish, which was why he also justified his acts of cruelty by associating everything to his traumatic childhood with Mikael and Esther. However, Klaus was responsible for Klaus' actions, which could be terrible. As a result, he was often teh foundation and cause for some of the most vile moments in the series.

“He knew he had to save this dog”: The Real Canine Story Behind Mark Wahlberg’s Arthur the King Shows it Deserves More at the Box Office
Image
Mark Wahlberg’s recent based-on-a-true-story movie Arthur the King has been gaining massive fan approval as of late. The film was adapted from the real-life events of Swedish athlete Mikael Lindnord, as he shared in his 2016 memoir Arthur: The Dog Who Crossed the Jungle to Find a Home. However, the movie’s box office numbers as of this writing aren’t all too great.

Arthur the King (2024)

The reason behind such a downfall with its current-standing revenue isn’t like the film wasn’t worthy of having tremendous box office numbers, no. In fact, if anything, the real canine story was a masterpiece whose true potential was greatly undermined at global box offices, and the recent revelations about the real story only further prove this point.

Chicago Fire Showrunner Talks Writing Arthur the King for Mark Wahlberg
Image
When TV fanatics hear "Chicago," their minds probably go to the hit network franchise that includes Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and more. The co-creator of said franchise, Michael Brandt, has a new project that has just been released — but this time, it's up on the big screen. Arthur the King is adapted from famed adventure racer Mikael Lindnord's acclaimed book about his life-changing experience 10 years ago when the eponymous furry friend entered his world. Later named Arthur, a beloved dog that followed Mikael and his team to the finish.

Oscar nominee Mark Wahlberg plays Mikael in the new movie from Lionsgate and directed by Simon Cellan Jones, and we recently caught up with screenwriter Brandt to learn more about his experience adapting the book to screen, and what it's been like writing for other hit Hollywood franchises.

One Wrong Move from Lionsgate May Have Doomed Mark Wahlberg’s Arthur the King, Which is Getting Annihilated at the Box Office Right Now
Image
Simon Cellan Jones-directed Arthur the King was born as a promising flick to do well on the big screen, and Lionsgate had all the reasons to believe in it. But the road to tackle the competitors was not smooth as the move was scrapped badly.

Mark Wahlberg in Arthur the King (2024)

In hindsight, there is not one single reason for the bumpy road to the Mark Wahlberg-led movie. Dog movies that have done quite well in the past include Channing Tatum’s movie, Dog. But what led to the downfall of Arthur the King? What went wrong? One mistake from Lionsgate may have pushed the movie to the edge of box-office doom.

Arthur the King Review | A Solid but Often Cheesy True Story Adventure
Image
Arthur the King is a wholesome, tear-jerking adventure film that showcases the unbreakable bond between a racer and his furry companion. Don't be fooled by the cheesy trailer; while it certainly relies on melodramatic 'dog movie' tropes, it's not as cheesy as it could be. While not groundbreaking, the movie provides a feel-good experience perfect for families and fans of canine companions on the big screen.

In our recent interview with Oscar-nominated actor Mark Wahlberg, he dubbed his new project Arthur the King a "big, four-quadrant movie." There is certainly a case to be made for said claim, and don't be surprised if Arthur the King makes at least an adequate profit at the box office. After all, the previous Wahlberg collaboration with director Simon Cellan Jones, aka The Family Plan, shattered Apple TV+ streaming records. The two actually teamed up for Arthur the King first, an entirely different kind...

Arthur the King Review
Image
Plot: An adventure racer adopts a stray dog named Arthur to join him in an epic endurance race.

Review: I was unaware of the true story of Arthur The King initially but after being subjected to the trailer about 9000 times over the course of the past few months, I felt like I knew it well. It looked like your typical inspirational movie. Or as my nephew knows it: the dog movie. Because it’s hard to categorize this as anything else. Sure, there’s adventure racing but this dog is a full-blown character here and takes center stage in the narrative. And it goes about how you would expect.

Arthur the King follows Mikael Lindnord (Wahlberg) and his team of adventure racers. During his last race ever and last chance at completing a life goal, a stray dog joins them on their journey. If you saw the trailer, then chances...

All 5 Doppelgängers In The Vampire Diaries Explained
Image
The existence and connection of doppelgängers in The Vampire Diaries are a result of immortality and the disruption of the balance of nature. The Petrova doppelgängers, including Tatia, Katherine Pierce, and Elena Gilbert, play significant roles in the series and are linked to powerful witches and vampires. While doppelgängers are a central aspect of the original show, they are not featured in the subsequent spin-offs, The Originals and Legacies.

The Vampire Diaries doppelgängers and their connection to the supernatural world took five seasons to unravel. After Elena Gilbert fell in love with Stefan Salvatore during season 1, she discovered she bore an uncanny resemblance to his ex: a 500-year-old vampire named Katherine Pierce, aka "Katerina Petrova" and later seasons provided answers. In the First Century Bce, there existed powerful witches known as Travelers. The two most powerful of these Travelers were Silas and Qetsiyah who wanted their love to be eternal,...
