While Wolverine and Cyclops are two of X-Men's most iconic heroes, they're not usually seen as the team's powerhouses. However, that just changed, as a group of mutants merge together to become X-Men's strongest hero, with an arsenal of god-tier mutant powers. It's the ultimate fusion of mutant abilities, drawing on existing Marvel lore in a smart new way.
The transformation happens in Godzilla vs X-Men #1 by Fabian Nicieza, Emilio Laiso, Federico Blee and Clayton Cowles. In the comic, the X-Men are contacted by the government for their help repelling an attack by the King of Monsters. Cyclops, Wolverine, Jean Grey, Beast and Storm spring into action, with Gambit carrying out a heist to retrieve an old Super-Adaptoid robot. Xavier then creates a telepathic mind-link, allowing the heroes to combine their powers in a single, gigantic form.
The Super-Adaptoid is a longtime Avengers enemy which can replicate the powers of superhumans in its vicinity.

The X-Men’s Wolverine has an instantly recognizable costume design that hasn’t changed much over the years aside from a few subtle tweaks and color scheme swaps, with his persona while under the influence of Apocalypse being a short-lived moment in the character’s long and storied history as a superhero. In a new cosplay, Wolverine’s time as the Horseman of Death is brought to life, giving the live-action space a new way to bring Logan to the silver screen.
Creating, wearing, and showing off this deep-cut Wolverine design on social media via Instagram, Mike Washington (@mikedastardly87) is a cosplayer who has cut his teeth bringing Logan and his various character designs into the real world, with this latest look only being one of the many impressive costumes Mike has under his belt.

Multiple acclaimed comic book creators lambast the "Special Thanks" credits in Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts*.
In a May 2 X post, acclaimed writer and artist Jim Zub noted that, although he has yet to see the film for himself, he was aware that his "contributions didn't earn a Special Thanks in the credits (which I figured was the case when Marvel didn't reach out about the premiere)." Zub added, "Winter Soldier is there, but the rest is way different." Although numerous creators listed in the film's Special Thanks credits have indeed helmed and created numerous characters who appear in the film, Deadpool co-creator Fabian Nicieza noted that Thunderbolts* might very well mark the first time that none of those mentioned in the Special Thanks credits have actually worked on a Thunderbolts comic.

Fans of the Marvel comic “Thunderbolts” may have had mixed feelings about this new feature film. I know I sure have. The original series was about a team of superheroes who were secretly villains in disguise, who planned to use their celebrity and misplaced public trust to take over the world. It’s one of the cleverest ideas Marvel ever had for a series, and it would have made a pretty cool movie. So it’s odd that the Marvel Cinematic Universe took the title but abandoned the premise.
Then again, there was more to “Thunderbolts” than that one high concept. Eventually it went grimdark, with a team of despicable supervillains forced to play nice for their freedom, à la “Suicide Squad.” But in the middle there, Fabian Nicieza converted the series into a freewheeling, excitingly plotted team book about ex-villains struggling to do the right thing. That’s the...

Some see Marvel Comics' heyday as either the Silver Age of Comics or the 1980s, with the latter being an era where almost every major character and franchise had great ongoing titles. The 1990s were a much more infamous decade, both for Marvel and comic books as a whole. Grim and gritty were in, and this saw several characters in the Marvel Universe hit it bigger than others.
The 1990s catapulted several Marvel heroes and antiheroes into stardom, be they X-Ceptional mutants or symbiotic Lethal Protectors. This time period defined Marvel's X-Men in particular, and they had just the right amount of edge for the era. The same was true for various vigilantes and antiheroes, who shined brighter than ever in the Dark Ages of Comics.

If you like the Deadpool movies, or Deadpool in general, you have Rob Liefeld to thank, as he co-created the character with Fabian Nicieza in The New Mutants #98. Over the years, Ryan Reynolds' Wade Wilson has become both a box office draw and a highly popular character within the Marvel Universe. That's no mean feat, especially for a character who made his debut in the self-proclaimed "Dark Age" of comics, but it's also Deadpool's popularity that might have led to a massive divide between Liefeld and Marvel.

It’s only fitting that the writer who co-created the Merc with the Mouth would also refuse to shut up when it came to mocking everything Marvel.
Few figures in the comic book world are as divisive or as outspoken as former Marvel writer Rob Liefeld, who most famously invented the character Deadpool with fellow comics veteran Fabian Nicieza. Though the beloved super-anti-hero’s now-signature ability to break the fourth wall and endlessly banter with his friends, enemies and audience is an invention of later writers, ever since Deadpool became a household name, Liefeld has taken after his creation’s iconoclastic style and picked numerous fights with both Marvel and Disney brass while Ryan Reynolds transforms the Deadpool brand into a veritable movie empire.

Deadpool recently made his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and very quickly became a fixture of it. Portrayed by Ryan Reynolds, the Merc With A Mouth made his MCU debut in Deadpool and Wolverine (alongside Hugh Jackman's iconic X-Man) in a loud, in-your-face multiversal movie that has received critical acclaim and reinforced Marvel Studios' dominance as the champions of the box office, grossing over $1.3 billion.
But Deadpool has been a fixture of the movie landscape for far longer than that, headlining two films in his own movie series before Disney bought 20th Century Fox. And he has been a fixture of Marvel Comics for even longer, making his debut in the pages of the graphic novels back in 1990.
There is one man responsible for the character's success and he has now announced his departure from the Marvel Entertainment franchise altogether.

It’s only fitting that the father of the most meta character in the Marvel comic book and cinematic universes would crash out over a credits crawl.
If your only experience with the superheroes and super-anti-heroes from the comic book kingdom of Stan Lee was through the mega-budget movie adaptations of such classic nerd texts, you’d probably assume that Ryan Reynolds created the character of Deadpool. After all, nobody in all of multimedia superhero entertainment has been more publicly associated with the wise-cracking, fourth-wall-breaking assassin than the A-lister who spent a decade trying to get an R-rated Deadpool movie greenlit before turning the character into a veritable Fox-to-Disney film franchise in its own right.
But no, the Mint Mobile mogul and Wrexham A.F.C. co-owner cannot count “comic book writer” among his many hyphenates, nor does he take credit for the creation of Wade Wilson, also known as the Merc with a Mouth,...

Yesterday evening, we shared the news that Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld has severed ties with Marvel. The comic book writer and artist expressed unhappiness with what he perceived as various slights on the company's part, including the fact he and his family weren't invited to the Deadpool & Wolverine premiere's afterparty.
Liefeld also took issue with not receiving a prominent "Created by" credit during the threequel's opening credits and has now followed up with a series of scathing comments on X.
Hitting back at a Marvel insider who, in The Hollywood Reporter's article, pointed out Liefeld's supposed attempts to diminish Fabian Nicieza's role in Deadpool's creation, Liefeld said, "Not so much as a single handshake. Classless. Wow. Disney’s response is pathetic. Speechless...get help and soon. The Kirby Estate sued Marvel. The Ditko Estate sued Marvel. This is not a particular strength for them."

Deadpool Co-Creator Leaves Marvel ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
Rob Liefeld, the legendary comic book artist behind Deadpool, has officially severed ties with Marvel, citing ongoing frustrations and a lack of recognition. Liefeld co-created the Merc with a Mouth in 1990 alongside Fabian Nicieza. Since then, he has had a rocky relationship with Marvel for decades, but the final straw came during the promotion of Deadpool & Wolverine. Feeling sidelined at the New York premiere and left out of key events, he publicly announced his departure from the company.
Liefeld has long been a vocal advocate for creators receiving fair acknowledgment, particularly when their work fuels billion-dollar franchises. His issues with Marvel aren’t new, but the apparent snub at Deadpool & Wolverine solidified his decision to move on. He expressed disappointment over how Marvel Studios handled the situation, contrasting it with his positive experiences during the first two Deadpool films under 20th Century Fox.

Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld has declared he has “cut ties in all ways” with Marvel after he and his family weren’t invited to Disney’s afterparty for last July’s “Deadpool & Wolverine” premiere.
Liefeld has other gripes with Marvel, involving the placement of creator credits in the film and what he perceives as a lack of respect from the film and television studio’s chief, Kevin Feige. Liefeld attended the screening at Manhattan’s Lincoln Center and says he posed on the red carpet with the “Deadpool & Wolverine” creative team but alleges the photos were deleted before they were posted anywhere.

Liefeld, who also created Cable, will always tell it like it is, which is why his new stance against Marvel is being taken pretty seriously by fans. In 2024, the Deadpool character reached new levels of success with how well Deadpool & Wolverine performed in theaters. However, creator Rob Liefeld felt mistreated by Marvel Studios amid the release of the film, and he feels so unhappy with the experience that he can't see himself ever working with the company again.
Liefeld opened up on how he feels about Marvel Studios and its head honcho, Kevin Feige, during the latest edition of the Robservations with Rob Liefeld podcast, per THR. He said that there were big issues related to the New York premiere of Deadpool & Wolverine in July of last year. Trouble arose when Liefeld didn't realize until he was at the premiere that he and his family were not invited to the afterparty, which he was not accustomed to. He also felt disrespected by Feige on the red carpet, noting that he was not even acknowledged by the Marvel boss.

He’s worked with them on and off for over three decades. However, after dropping a scathing new edition of his Robservations podcast, Liefeld has laid out his many issues with the studio in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter...and they mostly seem to boil down to how he was treated at the Deadpool & Wolverine premiere.

The comic artist and creator says that after more than 30 years, he is severing ties with the publisher for whom he created renowned characters Deadpool and Cable.

Warning: Contains Spoilers for Deadpool/Wolverine #1! Deadpool has had no shortage of costume and design changes in Marvel Comics, from his darker X-Force suit to Deadpool’s more recent Wwiii redesign. However, his newest suit isn’t just an aesthetic change, but rather the set-up for a major problem that will potentially impact the entire Marvel Universe. In fact, this new suit in question has effectively linked Deadpool with a greatly forgotten ‘90s X-Men villain - one who is primed for a major comeback.

With Marvel Comics' new Ultimate Universe taking the world by storm, fans old and new have been lining up to see which of their favorite characters will be reimagined next. While many Marvel icons like Iron Man and Doctor Doom have undergone drastic changes, other fan-favorites like Spider-Man or the Black Panther have struck close to home with more immediately recognizable iterations on decades-old characters.
Either way, the heroes of Earth-6160 have proven themselves to be incredibly malleable, especially in this imaginative new version of the Ultimate Universe, which launched in 2024 with Ultimate Spider-Man. There are countless choices for who might join this radical new take on the Marvel Universe next. But while there are many characters that fans absolutely need to see revamped for this new initiative, there are a few that readers can do without.

Few X-Men characters have developed such an immense cult following as Gambit. For many, Remy Etienne LeBeau is a fan-favorite member of the X-Men. Debuting in 1990, Gambit originally had a rogue's past that linked him to the villainous Mister Sinister, but as his teammates would later recognize, Remy had made a genuine effort to redeem himself into the hero he is today.
There is plenty to love about Gambit, and for someone with 35 years' worth of history to his name, there is a lot to learn about the Cajun badass. That being said, there is also plenty to learn about the character that even the most devoted fans don't know about Gambit. Some of the most hardcore fans would be shocked to know certain things that transpired revolving around the character in under-read gems of comic book issues - and there are even behind-the-scenes facts about what could've been for the character.

Though the prospect of Deadpool coming back for a third film would have been enough to draw audiences in, Deadpool & Wolverine upped the movie's box office appeal by bringing back Hugh Jackman to star alongside Ryan Reynolds. Jackman had previously played Wolverine for 17 years before retiring from the role, so his decision to return sent shockwaves among Marvel fans. Apparently, that included Reynolds, who co-wrote the film.
In an interview with IndieWire, the actor revealed that writing "Wolverine dialogue was a terrifying process." Reynolds used this opportunity to heap praise onto his friend and costar Jackman, speaking more specifically about a scene wherein WOlverine gives Deadpool a heavy reality check:
"Hugh took that monologue and just devoured it. He chewed it, swallowed it, and delivered for us…and at the end, there’s a stage direction at the bottom that briefly says after he finishes that whole speech, 'a flicker of regret crosses his pupil.

Marvel Comics' Deadpool/Wolverine #1 went on sale today and, following the success of last summer's Deadpool & Wolverine movie, it understandably features the two characters fighting alongside and against each other.
In a look ahead to the publisher's 2025 storylines, Timeslide #1 recently promised that there will be "A Time Of Strife" in the Marvel Universe. However, it seems that should have been "A Time Of Stryfe" based on how Deadpool/Wolverine's first issue concludes.
As Logan squares off with Wade Wilson, it becomes clear that the Merc with the Mouth is being controlled by a nanite-related virus. Eventually reporting back to who's controlling him, Deadpool is shown to have fallen under the spell of classic X-Men villain, Stryfe!
Despite looking a little worse for wear, Stryfe has returned and become the new X-Cutioner. That character is best known for waging war against mutants and those of you who know Stryfe's history...

With the Thunderbolts*’ new film fast approaching, it’s time to take a look back at the various comic iterations of the team. The team was first founded by Baron Zemo and a collection of other villains as a means to disguise their villainy as heroism. However, over time, some villains found their call to heroism and thus the team transformed.
The strongest forms of the Thunderbolts are the ones that adhere to the team’s new primary directive, rehabilitating villains. While readers often compare the Thunderbolts to DC’s Suicide Squad, Marvel’s version of the team is designed to turn villains into heroes, not recklessly expend them like paws. The farther a Thunderbolts team strays from that path, the more likely they’ll turn on themselves and collapse apart. Villain teams always collapse internally, while heroes prevail. The strongest Thunderbolts teams aren’t just packed with power but are resistant to internal collapse.

Last year, Marvel Comics and Toho International, the Japanese studio's U.S.-based subsidiary that has brought global sensation Godzilla to life, began an exciting new collaboration that resulted in a hit Godzilla variant cover program and long-awaited reprints and collections of Godzilla's original Marvel comic series.
Earlier this month, it was revealed that Godzilla will enter the Marvel Universe in groundbreaking new comics, beginning with six action-packed one-shots that pit Marvel heroes against Godzilla in breathtaking battles, each set in different eras of Godzilla and Marvel Comics.
The Godzilla vs. one-shots will mix Godzilla lore with the Marvel mythos, twisting history as icons like the Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, Hulk, the X-Men and Thor face off against the King of the Monsters.

En Sabah Nur aka Apocalypse is a terrifying force of nature within the Marvel Universe, and stands as one of the greatest X-Men villains of all time. Even when Apocalypse was temporarily on the heroic mutants’ side, he was still a pillar of immense strength, one that everyone was right to be wary of. Apocalypse has had no shortage of moments in Marvel Comics to earn this reputation, as he’s not just a powerful mutant, he’s also a powerhouse akin to a literal god.
Apocalypse was born in Ancient Egypt, taken in by a clan of warriors who taught him the mantra he’d carry with him for the rest of his life: only the strong survive. Apocalypse believes in survival of the fittest with everything in his being. Why he’s such a great villain is that he sees himself as the strongest, and works to prove that any chance he gets.

Deadpool & Wolverine proved to be a box office juggernaut as well as a favorite among long-term fans of Marvel films, prompting the question of what comes next for the characters. Ryan Reynolds, the movie's writer, producer, and lead star, gave an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in which he discussed Wade Wilson's future in the MCU and potential as an Avenger. The actor explained his take on a potential sequel as well as why he thinks there shouldn't be another solo Deadpool film:
"I’ve never been so depressed as the day we locked the last reel of Deadpool & Wolverine. Seeing Shawn every day and Hugh in person or on the screen in the edit bay is one of the best times of my life and a memory palace in my mind that I visit every day. Since the first trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine dropped, Wade Wilson calling himself "Marvel Jesus" has proven to be one of the film's most memorable lines. The film overall completely demolished the fourth wall with its approach to Marvel's post-Endgame record, which is generally viewed as less successful than the previous decade of films. However, the scene in which Deadpool declares himself the messiah of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is perhaps the most infamous line from the film.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Deadpool himself, Ryan Reynolds, unpacked how Marvel executives felt about the line and its (joking) insinuation that the film would revitalize the MCU. The actor, who also wrote and produced Deadpool & Wolverine, explained:

Without forewarning, Marvel just turned one of the X-Men’s most iconic superheroes into an omega-level mutant and it has gone almost completely unnoticed since the Krakoa Era, that is until now. Throughout the X-Men’s time on Krakoa, many heroes were revived, resetting them to their original forms and one of those mutants was Gambit.
While Remy LeBeau has been a staple X-Men member since the 90s, he’s not often a mentioned contender for the X-Men's most powerful hero, despite this, it’s widely known that Gambit used to have omega-level potential. Before he became an X-Men, Gambit sought out Mister Sinister to help him get his powers under control, and to do that, Mister Sinister cut out a small part of his brain.
However, Gambit was killed during the Krakoa Era and was resurrected to his original state, meaning Gambit now has complete access to his previously unaccessible omega-level powers.

Love him or hate him, there’s no question that Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld has left an indelible mark on comic book history. Co-created with writer Fabian Nicieza, Deadpool has grown into one of Marvel’s most popular characters, but there are relatively few comics starring the Merc with the Mouth drawn by Liefeld himself.
Rob Liefeld was one of Marvel’s biggest artists before he left with six others to form Image Comics in 1992. As such, Liefeld drew Deadpool only a handful of times before breaking off on his own. Recent years have seen the artist produce more comics starring Wade Wilson, but now that Liefeld has announced he’ll be leaving Marvel once more following the wrap-up of the current Deadpool Team-Up miniseries, it seems like the perfect time to look back on the artist’s best work for his signature character.

Warning: Spoilers for Phases of the Moon Knight #4!Out of all of Marvel's considerable roster of heroes, Moon Knight's legacy is thornier than most, as the character falls into the unfortunately all-too-broad category of a white man being granted power from an "exotic" foreign culture. Now, however, the Phases of the Moon Knight anthology introduces a past Moon Knight who is not only a native Egyptian but is also a fierce proponent of her homeland's values and rights.
The first story in Phases of the Moon Knight #4, "For Now" by Fabian Nicieza, Moiss Hidalgo, Fernando Sifuentes, and Cory Petit, introduces readers to Nakia, the Moon Knight of the late 19th century. The story plays out during the British occupation of Egypt in 1880, and Nakia is hard-pressed to protect both the Egyptian civilians of Alexandria and the occupying British forces from the supernatural evils that their conflict has awakened.

Deadpool is an incredibly weird character with tons of ridiculous quirks about him, and one of the strangest has always been his obsession with chimichangas. This obsession is so great that it's not only featured heavily in the live action Deadpool movies, but it even has toys dedicated to it, and it's entirely due to Saturday Night Live.
The origins of Deadpool's obsession with chimichangas were revealed by Cbr, who tracked down the urban legend. As comic book fans know, Deadpool is one of the most controversial and divisive characters in history. Created by Fabian Nicieza and Rob Liefeld, he first appeared in New Mutants #98 in December 1990 and has since become a beloved cult classic.
Deadpool’s history is intricate and layered, featuring many well-known meta moments. He is also canonically pansexual, making him a member of the LGBTQ+ community in the comics. This raises the question: is Ryan Reynolds’ portrayal of Deadpool also LGBTQ+ in the films?
While the MCU has not explicitly confirmed this, Ryan Reynolds’ past comments—along with several in-universe hints—suggest that Deadpool is indeed an LGBTQ+ character in the movies, just like in the comics.
As mentioned, Deadpool is canonically pansexual. Throughout his comic book adventures, he has had romantic relationships with various characters—male, female, human, alien, and non-human—clearly establishing him as a member of the LGBTQ+ community in the comics.

The following contains major spoilers from X-Men '97 Season 1, Episode 9, "Tolerance Is Extinction - Part 2," now streaming on Disney+.
Throughout X-Men '97, it became clear that the heroes would have to draw a line in the sand somewhere. There have been too many atrocities committed against mutants, the least of which being the Genosha massacre. Even Cyclops lost his cool despite not crossing ethical lines.
Thankfully, Professor Xavier returned to Earth after his time in space with Lilandra. Unfortunately, while Magneto has been revived, the Master of Magnetism has no plans to keep working with the X-Men. Episode 9, "Tolerance Is Extinction - Part 2," confirms Magneto is a villain once more, but he has a lot more merit to his reputation this time around.

Warning: Contains Spoilers for Deadpool #7! Marvel Comics recently did the unthinkable: killed Wade Wilson aka Deadpool. Luckily, the Merc with a Mouth had a daughter named Ellie who inherited his healing factor, and evidently, his bloodlust, as Marvels new Deadpool just showcased her healing factor with an extreme kill worthy of her fathers iconic (and gruesomely violent) legacy.
In a preview for Deadpool #7 by Cody Ziglar, Alexis Quasarano, and Andrea Di Vito, readers are taken on a mission with the new Deadpool, witnessing her chopping through a gang of low-level criminals like its nothing. During the violent escapade, Deadpool describes her mental state, how shes grieving the recent loss of her father, and explains that shes channeling those emotions into her work. Rather than feeling sad, Ellie has decided to be royally ticked off, and shes taking it out on these targets with extreme brutality.

Famously set to join forces with Wolverine on the big screen, Deadpool has a long solo career beyond his association with the mutant with the adamantium claws. Ever since his debut in 1991s New Mutants #98, Deadpool has gone on to become a pillar of the Marvel Universe, a character who has captured fans imaginations for over thirty years now.
Created by Rob Liefeld and Fabian Nicieza, Deadpool is one of the few superheroes to debut in the last thirty years to make an impact, going on to become the most popular fictional characters in the world today. Skirting the line between hero and villain for most of his history, Deadpool operates completely outside of the simple morality often seen in most superhero comics. The fourth wall-breaking sense of humor also allows the character to poke fun at many of the classic tropes found in comics, leading to some of the...

According to Senior Marvel Editor Tom Brevoort, he once emphatically refused to follow through on a creative decision from above, in which the publisher decreed that a pregnant Mary Jane Parker would suffer a miscarriage at the end of a dramatic Spider-Man arc. Had he not drawn a line in the sand, the often-maligned One More Day storyline from a decade later may have had an even more controversial precedent.
On his Substack, Brevoort revealed his role in stopping the plot in its tracks. Spider-Man: The Last Adventure written by Fabian Nicieza, with art by Darick Robertson was a four-issue miniseries released between late 1995 and early 1996. As the title suggested, the storyline was conceived of as Peter Parker's final outing as the Webslinger.
Brevoort's unwillingness to end The Last Adventure with Mary Jane losing the baby led to the arc ending on an uncertain note; sadly, the story of Mj's pregnancy did end in tragedy,...

Dafne Keen comments on how long she wants to continue in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The actress first played the character in 2017's Logan, returning to the role in the only MCU movie of 2024, Deadpool & Wolverine. Based on the movie's success it has become the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time and the overwhelmingly positive reception to Keen's return, X-23 could stay in the franchise longer and have a future in the McU's slate of projects.
