RuPaul’s DragCon LA 2024 has officially begun! Earlier today, the cowboy hat-wearing RuPaul Charles opened the festivities at the Los Angeles Convention Center with the ceremonial cutting of the pink ribbon. “Fabulous! Have a good time. I love you,” the Queen of Drag told his adoring crowd while still holding the enormous pink scissors. RuPaul’s co-producer and co-judge Michelle Visage stood beside him, and they were flanked by dozens of drag queens from the American version of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” plus many other worldwide installments. Watch the ribbon cutting video below:

Once again, the convention’s festivities are presented by World of Wonder Productions and its co-founders, Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato. This year’s theme is the “hottest ever” … and we’re assuming that refers to the sizzling talent that’ll be on-hand rather than the California weather.

“Obviously, there’s a lot of parts of this country where people don’t feel safe so we have to band together to make people as safe as we can,” country music star Orville Peck told the audience at the WeHo Pride’s Outloud music festival on Saturday, referring to the wave of anti-trans and anti-drag legislation that is upending lives and spreading fear in states across the country, including Texas and Florida. But, noted Peck, a judge in Tennessee had just a day earlier ruled that the state’s recently passed law forbidding drag performances in public is unconstitutional, drawing cheers from the thousands in the crowd.
That scene, mixing politics, purpose and performance, was one of many similar ones that unfolded throughout the second annual WeHo Pride, held over the weekend of June 2-4 in West Hollywood, California.

With 15 seasons under its belt, RuPaul’s Drag Race doesn’t appear to be slowing down any time soon.
“We’ll be doing these interviews when it’s RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 72,” joked Season 15 queen Mistress Isabelle Brooks, who was joined on Deadline’s Contenders Television: Documentary + Unscripted panel by queens Anetra, Sasha Colby and Luxx Noir London.
Season 15 was the biggest yet, literally, boasting the largest cast in the series’ history. The 16 queens competed for $200,000, its biggest cash prize even. It was also the first season to feature biological relatives, twins Sugar and Spice. Season 15 also was the highest-rated season of RuPaul’s Drag Race in three years, after the series moved from VH1 to MTV.
So what is the key to this longevity?
“I feel like Drag Race really just has everything you’re kind of looking for in reality television,” said London. “You have really pretty people. You have really dynamic personalities.

For the most part, that’s also my personal ranking for the season, save for one crucial problem — for the life of me, I cannot choose between Sasha and Anetra!

By the end of episode 13 of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 15 on March 24, the head-to-head we’ve all been waiting arrived when Loosey Laduca and Luxx Noir London were selected as the bottom two by the judges. A season-long build up of tension between the two came to a head in their battle to guest judge Hayley Kiyoko‘s song “For the Girls” where ultimately Luxx won out and Loosey was sent home. Vote in our poll below to tell us if the judges made the right choice in sending Loosey home this week.
This week the queens were tasked with making over a teacher in drag with a focus on building a family resemblance to their own unique style. “RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 15 continued on March 24 with the next step in the competition toward discovering “America’s next drag superstar.” Last week, the queens sang and dance on stage in the showstopping new rusical “Wigloose!” While the judges were pleased with everyone’s performances, the two that fell to the bottom of the pack were Salina EsTitties and Loosey Laduca. A fourth trip to the Lip Sync for Your Life was the end of the road for Salina while Loosey survived to shantay another day.
This week, the final five give back to the people who shape our futures by giving influential teachers the drag makeover of their dreams. Seated at the judges’ dais for episode 13 titled “Teacher Makeovers” was Emmy winning host RuPaul Charles, longtime bestie Michelle Visage, judge Ross Mathews, and music artist and “Celebrity Drag Race” alum Hayley Kiyoko.

Each week on “The Pit Stop,” Bianca Del Rio recaps the latest episode of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 15 alongside a guest host. Following Friday’s twelfth episode, Laganja Estranja and Bianca start a rumor about a never-aired lip sync between the two of them on season 6, among other things. Watch the full episode above via the official RuPaul’s Drag Race channel on YouTube.
In their recap of episode 12, Laganja names Mistress Isabelle Brooks and Luxx Noir London as her two faves of the season, though she likes all of the top six. Bianca liked that for once her guest didn’t name Sasha Colby as her favorite, though admittedly they both are rooting for her. One thing Laganja and Bianca are tired of hearing from the girls is their “in my __ era” tag line that they say has been run in to the ground by this point. On that topic,...

There are certain Drag Race staples that fans anxiously await every season: Snatch Game, the reading challenge, the Rusical and, of course, the moment RuPaul forces each queen to publicly announce who they would eliminate.
Remember how crushed Miz Cracker was when Asia O’Hara accused her of not being a star? Or when Bianca Del Rio snapped at BenDeLaCreme for insinuating that she was merely “sailing” in the competition? And who could forget Rebecca Glasscock’s iconic answer: “Do we just get to pick one?”

Stand-up comedy is one of the toughest challenges on RuPaul's Drag Race. The judges put a lot of pressure on the queens to craft a funny stand-up routine. They want to hear all the jokes.
The latest comedy show on RuPaul's Drag Race Season 15 Episode 11 showed how certain queens could thrive (or stumble) under the set-up.
Either you've got the comedy skill, or the lack killed all your chances. Safe to say the consistently safe queen couldn't hide from this showcase.
"Two Queens, One Joke" was a roller coaster of jokes and cringeworthy silence. RuPaul's Drag Race Season 15 still has plenty of comedy queens left in the competition, so the odds were high that we'd be in for a good time.
Between Mistress constantly roasting the cast and the queens bantering with each other, we knew they could make us laugh. But delivering for the stand-up show was another story.

It’s appropriate that RuPaul threw the Crystal Ball for Friday’s 200th episode of Drag Race, because this week’s results doubled as a look into the future.
That’s how I see it, anyway. Sasha Colby was the belle of Season 15’s ball, showcasing her personal style and versatility with three incredible looks. First, she was the only queen to truly reinvent Ru’s iconic jumpsuit, reimagining it as a slinky, midriff-baring gown. And that weed-themed “dime bag” dress was so fantastically camp, it gave me a contact high.

By the end of episode 8 of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 15 on February 17, Jax found herself once again on stage in front of the judges to lip sync for her life. This time it was at the culmination of a “LipSync Lalaparuza Smackdown” that left her opposite Anetra after they each lost in two previous head-to-heads. Ultimately Anetra bested Jax in the final showdown after Anetra saved Spice from having to perform.
We asked in a recent poll if Jax was the right queen to “sashay away” by the end of the smackdown and almost half of you said yes. At the time of this writing, 45% of the voters in the poll believe Jax deserved to go home. Another 36% actually thought someone else should have been eliminated, voting “Other.” Only 5% think Anetra should have went home so the prevailing assumption is that the “other” votes are directed at Spice. Shared via an Instagram post on Thursday, “RuPaul’s Drag Race” announced that it will return to airing 90-minute episodes beginning March 10. The Emmy winning competition series made its big jump to MTV in January and shocked and outraged its loyal fanbase with a new 60-minute format when the third episode aired on January 13. Also in a break from tradition, the sister series “Untucked” did not immediately follow the episode and instead aired a full hour after Rpdr’s conclusion.
MTV’s trimming of the “RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 15 episode length is perceived to have made room for its new series “The Real Friends of Weho,” starring “Canada’s Drag Race” host and judge Brad Goreski. That series premiered on January 20 following the fourth episode of Rpdr. It’s been airing in the 9 pm slot that had been previously occupied by the additional 30 minutes of Rpdr and “Untucked” when the show aired on VH1.

“RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 15 continued on January 27 with the next step in the competition toward discovering “America’s next drag superstar.” Last week, twins Sugar and Spice fell into the bottom two together after chaotic and confusing turns in “Snatch Game.” After their well-rehearsed Lip Sync for Your Life to “You Better Run,” Spice was chosen as the sister to stay while Sugar was asked to “sashay away.” This week, the 13 remaining girls use home decor elements in their first design challenge of the season.
Seated at the judges’ dais for episode 4 was Emmy winning host RuPaul Charles, longtime bestie Michelle Visage and recurring judge Ross Mathews. They were joined by multitalented star Janelle Monae as this week’s guest judge.
The 13 queens still in the competition are: Amethyst, Anetra, Aura Mayari, Jax, Loosey Laduca, Luxx Noir London, Malaysia Babydoll Foxx, Marcia Marcia Marcia, Mistress Isabelle Brooks, Robin Fierce, Salina EsTitties,...

The sweet queer-after was absolute hell for some of the queens on RuPaul's Drag Race Season 15 Episode 3.
Whenever improv challenges come around, the queens must think on their feet and serve the fun. Some brought the jokes while others struggled for air. (And we mean a struggle for some!)
Come on, these are infomercials. The queens should be prepared for these challenges by now.

First appearing on the show in seasons 5 and 6, Bianca, Jinkx and Ben all bring a wealth of knowledge about the Drag Race multiverse to their understanding of the experience the new queens are having on season 15. As self-described “pre-historic” queens, the three legends share their interesting takes on the younger queens like the twins Sugar and Spice who gained popularity on TikTok and wonder why it matters to Irene Dubois that Luxx Noir London‘s wig is or is not 40 inches long. The twins factored in to a lot of the commentary,...
