RuPaul’s DragCon LA 2024 has officially begun! Earlier today, the cowboy hat-wearing RuPaul Charles opened the festivities at the Los Angeles Convention Center with the ceremonial cutting of the pink ribbon. “Fabulous! Have a good time. I love you,” the Queen of Drag told his adoring crowd while still holding the enormous pink scissors. RuPaul’s co-producer and co-judge Michelle Visage stood beside him, and they were flanked by dozens of drag queens from the American version of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” plus many other worldwide installments. Watch the ribbon cutting video below:

Once again, the convention’s festivities are presented by World of Wonder Productions and its co-founders, Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato. This year’s theme is the “hottest ever” … and we’re assuming that refers to the sizzling talent that’ll be on-hand rather than the California weather.

Each week on “The Pit Stop,” Trixie Mattel recaps the latest episode of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 16 alongside a guest host. Following Friday’s eighth episode, reigning champion and Mother of season 15 Sasha Colby makes her recap debut to break down this season’s “Snatch Game” performances. Watch the full episode above via the official RuPaul’s Drag Race channel on YouTube.
In their recap of the episode, Sasha and Trixie have fun addressing the “unsolicited shade” of this season and how even when Plane Jane calls anyone “sister” feels like subtle shade as well. Sasha gives Jane some defense by admitting that as drag queens they all “just have a crippling desire for people to love us” and Jane is no different. When it came to the reading challenge of her season, Sasha was impressed by Loosey Laduca and Malaysia Babydoll Foxx; this season the standouts for her were Jane and Xunami Muse.

Each season on “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” there’s a big song and dance group number that showcases the queens performance abilities. Dubbed the “rusical” — an amalgamation of RuPaul and musical — it’s the chance for each of the competitors to show off their acting, dancing and lip-syncing skills.
For the competition series’ milestone Season 15, the rusical was “Wigloose,” inspired by the 1984 Kevin Bacon classic “Footloose.” The number starred the top six queens: Anetra, Loosey Laduca, Luxx Noir London, Mistress Isabelle Brooks, Salina EsTitties and Sasha Colby. “Wigloose” is set in the fictional small town of West Bumtuck, where a local teacher (Brooks) seeks to outlaw drag. The local youth protest the law by holding a secret drag ball. In the end, the teacher is reminded by her old friend (Anetra) and husband (Colby) about the power of drag, and the law is overturned.

We've made it, Drag Race fans! The crown has been snatched, the confetti has fallen, and our jaws have dropped.
America has found its next drag superstar on RuPaul's Drag Race Season 15 Episode 16.
This was a tight race to the finish, possibly one of the tightest in Drag Race herstory. But there was no doubt that your favorite drag queen's favorite drag queen wasn't claiming another big win and leaving her mark in herstory.
The crowning episode is typically a night of celebration. Everything from the lip-syncs to the interviews to the cheesy segments is about making it a glitzy night to celebrate drag.
"Grand Finale" was no exception!
And I'd be remiss not to talk about how empowering the grand finale was for drag queens and the 2Slgbtq+ community as a whole.
It's been a tough year for drag queens, especially due to all the hurtful debates and discriminatory legislation targeting them.

By the end of episode 14 of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 15 on March 31, RuPaul Charles and judges Michelle Visage and Ross Mathews made the decision of which queens would advance to the April 14 “Grand Finale.” Based on their performances in the “Blame It on the Edit” music video challenge, Sasha Colby earned her fourth challenge win and Luxx Noir London was “safe,” both earning automatic spots in the finale. Mistress Isabelle Brooks and Anetra were left as the bottom two where one would be saved and the other was supposed to be eliminated.

“RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 15 continued on March 31 with the penultimate step in the competition toward discovering “America’s next drag superstar.” Last week, the queens were partnered with inspirational women for “Teacher Makeovers.” Loosey Laduca performed well in the challenge, but still fell to the bottom two and ultimately lost the Lip Sync for Your Life to Luxx Noir London.
This week, the final four found themselves one music video challenge away from competing in the “Grand Finale” for the crown and title. Seated at the judges’ dais for episode 14 titled “Blame It on the Edit” was Emmy winning host RuPaul Charles, longtime bestie Michelle Visage, and judge Ross Mathews.
The four queens fighting for a spot in the Grand Finale are: Anetra, Luxx Noir London, Mistress Isabelle Brooks, and Sasha Colby.

At the end of episode 13 of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 15 on March 24, Loosey Laduca and Luxx Noir London fought for their chance to advance to the final four in a Lip Sync for Your Life to “For the Girls” by guest judge Hayley Kiyoko. It was Loosey’s second straight trip to the bottom and Luxx’s first time placing in the bottom two and though they both exuded confidence going into battle, only one came out on top. Ultimately, the judges decided that it was Loosey’s time to go and that Luxx would be the queen to remain.

Following Friday’s thirteenth episode, Naomi Smalls returns to the recap show as a two-time makeover challenge winner herself. Watch the full episode above via the official RuPaul’s Drag Race channel on YouTube.
In their recap of episode 13, both Naomi and Bianca say that they expected one of the twins to make the top five instead of the five that actually made it to this episode. Naomi said that Sugar is great at comedic timing, but Spice is more polished in her looks and so either could have been the one to make it this far. Like other queens before her, Naomi also took offense to queens like Luxx Noir London and Loosey Laduca being so pressed about their placements, especially Loosey trying to count mini challenge wins in her record.

Get your brushes ready, and your wigs snatched. It's time for a makeover!
The lovable makeover Maxi Challenge returned on RuPaul's Drag Race Season 15 Episode 13 to dish out fabulous looks for some unsung heroes: the teachers.
And in true makeover fashion, some queens captured the family resemblance while others failed to find a connection. Though, it was the strange judging choices that took center stage.
"Teacher Makeovers" was a heartwarming yet slow round for the competition. I'm grateful to have 90-minute episodes again, but with only five queens left, the pacing had a touch more filler this time.
Still, plenty of drama and great chemistry moments with the teachers balanced things out to make it a fun round.
Firstly, the "Spill The T" Mini Challenge brought so much fun and light drama to the Werk Room.
It's always so scandalous whenever the queens are asked their true thoughts about one another.

It has been said many times that the fan base of Ru Paul’s Drag Race can be extremely toxic to both performers and fellow fans. The annoying number of posts I see in so-called “fan pages” that contain some form of racist/transphobic rhetoric, are purposefully vile towards queens from the show or even end in intense verbal fights between fans is ridiculous when really all I personally want to do is talk to people about how much I love the show! As fans, we also always seem to think that we could (if we wanted to) dominate any season of Drag Race and talk about how we would have done the challenge differently to win. I did exactly this a few episodes ago when talking about how I would have excelled in the interview challenge but personally, I think this week would have been extremely tough! I don...

By the end of episode 12 of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 15 on March 17, Salina EsTitties was fighting for her life in a fourth trip to the Lip Sync for Your Life this season. This time she was pitted against Loosey Laduca, in the bottom for her first time, after both were named by the other queens as the two most deserving of being sent home. Vote in our poll below to tell us if the judges made the right choice in sending Salina home this week.
This week the judges were happy with the performances that all six queens delivered in “Wigloose: The Rusical!” Loosey had set her sights on the starring role of Heaven Bacon during role selection and had to fight Luxx Noir London and Mistress Isabelle Brooks in order to land the role. After the heated argument, Salina comforted Loosey who was feeling triggered by memories of being...

“RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 15 continued on March 17 with the next step in the competition toward discovering “America’s next drag superstar.” Last week, the queens stood on stage in pairs for a stand up comedy challenge. In keeping with the spirit of iconic duos, both Luxx Noir London and Loosey Laduca were named challenge winners and Marcia Marcia Marcia was asked to “sashay away” following an impressive Lip Sync for Your Life against Anetra.
This week, the final six combined their dancing and acting talents to perform in the topical off-off-off Broadway show “Wigloose” about the cultural value of drag. Seated at the judges’ dais for episode 12 titled “Wigloose: The Rusical!” was Emmy winning host RuPaul Charles, longtime bestie Michelle Visage, judge Ross Mathews, and music artist Orville Peck.
The seven queens still in the competition are: Anetra, Loosey Laduca, Luxx Noir London, Mistress Isabelle Brooks, Salina EsTitties, and Sasha Colby.

There are certain Drag Race staples that fans anxiously await every season: Snatch Game, the reading challenge, the Rusical and, of course, the moment RuPaul forces each queen to publicly announce who they would eliminate.
Remember how crushed Miz Cracker was when Asia O’Hara accused her of not being a star? Or when Bianca Del Rio snapped at BenDeLaCreme for insinuating that she was merely “sailing” in the competition? And who could forget Rebecca Glasscock’s iconic answer: “Do we just get to pick one?”

The contestants of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 15 are confronting anti-drag hate in the show’s latest episode. On Friday, the queens performed in a Wigloose Rusical, a reimagined version of Footloose where a local teacher is attempting to ban drag, as the queens opened up about their fears of new laws.
“With everything presently going on in the world, it feels like we’re taking a giant step back,” Anetra said.

Last week’s episode of Ru Paul’s Drag Race marked the two hundredth episode of the American version of the show and so to celebrate the entire episode was dedicated to celebrating some of the most iconic moments in the show’s fifteen-year history! This included a mini-challenge where the queens photo-bombed attention-grabbing moments from previous sessions, the queens discussed their favourite moments and a ball maxi challenge with one category being focussed on re-imagining previous ball categories! I really enjoy when the producers of the show decide to tie sections of the show together as it helps to create a cohesive viewing experience for anyone watching. After putting up a good fight (to the surprise of everyone) in the lip-sync, Spice was sadly told to sashay away which means that both twins are officially out of the competition. At the top end of the episode was Sasha but the...

Stand-up comedy is one of the toughest challenges on RuPaul's Drag Race. The judges put a lot of pressure on the queens to craft a funny stand-up routine. They want to hear all the jokes.
The latest comedy show on RuPaul's Drag Race Season 15 Episode 11 showed how certain queens could thrive (or stumble) under the set-up.
Either you've got the comedy skill, or the lack killed all your chances. Safe to say the consistently safe queen couldn't hide from this showcase.
"Two Queens, One Joke" was a roller coaster of jokes and cringeworthy silence. RuPaul's Drag Race Season 15 still has plenty of comedy queens left in the competition, so the odds were high that we'd be in for a good time.
Between Mistress constantly roasting the cast and the queens bantering with each other, we knew they could make us laugh. But delivering for the stand-up show was another story.

Like the great Angela Bassett before her, Marcia Marcia Marcia did the thing on Friday’s episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race.
Mind you, “the thing” was not winning this week’s maxi challenge, as Marcia didn’t exactly wow the judges with her one-woman comedy show. Nor was it the runway category, as the judges read her for basically wearing a variation of Loosey Laduca’s pageant runner-up look from the Crystal Ball.

Can the queens pull out their interview skills in front of the cameras? That was the big question on RuPaul's Drag Race Season 15 Episode 10.
Drag Race has done "interview" Maxi Challenges in the past; it's a great game to test the queens' charisma and ability to think of their feet. Showing off their personality can be the trick to shining and wowing the judges.
But if a queen gets overwhelmed, they can't turn away from the cameras. It's a live challenge!
"50/50's Most Gagworthy Stars" proved that many of the queens from RuPaul's Drag Race Season 15 can have careers as interview hosts. Many of them did a great job!
The round was cheeky, fun, and completely unpredictable. The celebrity guests kept these queens on their toes; it was hilarious for us viewers and surprising for the queens, just like an actual interview.

Two hundred episodes?! Drag Race has made its mark in herstory.
It's an iconic week on RuPaul's Drag Race Season 15 Episode 9, and the queens are here to celebrate. They took the drama, the joy, and the style to The Crystal Ball.
Twenty-seven looks strutted the runway, but only one queen landed at the top. Anything can happen at a Ball!
"The Crystal Ball: Episode 200" was a heartwarming and exciting round that gave us a lot of nostalgia and fashion.
For anyone who has watched Drag Race over the years, there were plenty of callouts to iconic moments from the franchise. Even the scenes and one-liners that blew up in pop culture got a shoutout. It's a great nod because Drag Race loves its nostalgia and herstory.
And that fun started with a long overdue Mini Challenge.

It’s appropriate that RuPaul threw the Crystal Ball for Friday’s 200th episode of Drag Race, because this week’s results doubled as a look into the future.
That’s how I see it, anyway. Sasha Colby was the belle of Season 15’s ball, showcasing her personal style and versatility with three incredible looks. First, she was the only queen to truly reinvent Ru’s iconic jumpsuit, reimagining it as a slinky, midriff-baring gown. And that weed-themed “dime bag” dress was so fantastically camp, it gave me a contact high.

Is that blood in the water? No, it's a bloodbath!
The claws came out, and the stunts were brought to the main stage on RuPaul's Drag Race Season 15 Episode 8.
No one is safe during the Lalaparuza. We were on the edge of our seats to see how this round would turn out. (And it didn't disappoint!)
"LipSync Lalaparuza Smackdown" packed plenty of high tension and energy into one round. Fans of the lip-syncing eliminations would love this competition.
There are no Maxi Challenges to throw the queens off. No runways to judge the taste level. The decision is all about lip-syncing, something the queens get paid to do on a daily/weekly basis.
I love this tournament!
RuPaul's Drag Race has done variations of this Maxi Challenge. Whether battling it out as a twist or a knockout-style tournament, the drama will always whittle down to one queen getting the boot.

Reflecting on the judges’ decisions from last week, Mistress Isabelle Brooks is thrilled to have entered the winner’s circle as the top performer of the week, but Loosey Laduca admits to being “very, very upset” that she was only safe and not selected to be in the top. “RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 15 continued on February 10 with the next step in the competition toward discovering “America’s next drag superstar.” Last week, Aura Mayari was the stand out “golden gal” in the girl group challenge while Robin Fierce faded into the background and was asked to “sashay away.” This week, the 11 remaining girls star in the new sitcom reboot of last year’s “The Daytona Wind.”
Seated at the judges’ dais for episode 7 was Emmy winning host RuPaul Charles, longtime bestie Michelle Visage and recurring judge Carson Kressley. They were joined by actor Harvey Guillén as this week’s guest judge.
The 11 queens still in the competition are: Anetra, Aura Mayari, Jax, Loosey Laduca, Luxx Noir London, Malaysia Babydoll Foxx, Marcia Marcia Marcia, Mistress Isabelle Brooks, Salina EsTitties, Sasha Colby, and Spice.

The Daytona Wind has rolled in, smelling like a sitcom.
The acting challenge separated the comedians from the casualties on RuPaul's Drag Race Season 15 Episode 7. Acting challenges are hit or miss because it all depends on the script's strength and which roles the queens get.
And in true Drag Race fashion, some queens benefited from their starring roles while others struggled to shine. It's just another day on the soap opera set!
"The Daytona Wind 2" was a cheeky round full of canned jokes and tense drama.
Even with the joy of having the hilarious acting challenge return, much of the focus stuck on "Metalgate." The drama overshadowed everything until it could have its natural ending, which happened pretty quickly and easily.
The most heated moment started at the top of the episode during the regroup couches. Like it was fresh on their minds, so they had to vent and get it out there.

At the end of episode 6 of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 15 on February 3, Robin Fierce and Jax found themselves lip synching for their lives, both for the first time. Following their head-to-head to “In Your Room” by The Bangles, Robin was asked to “sashay away,” but both underwhelmed fans in the lip sync and the girl group challenge.
We asked in a recent poll if the judges made the right decision and voters are split, almost evenly over whether Robin or Jax should have been the one to go. At the time of this writing, Robin had 38.3 of the vote while Jax had 36.8. There was also 11 of fans that thought a different queen should have been eliminated instead of either of them. Anetra was also in the bottom three, so voters could be thinking she deserved the “sashay.”
