'Z Nation' Is Officially Free to Watch on YouTube
Image
Fans can finally stream one of Syfy’s hit zombie TV shows for absolutely free, less than a decade after it was cancelled. Z Nation, created by Karl Schaefer and Craig Engler, has since been available on multiple streaming platforms, following its debut in the early 2010s. Some of these streamers include Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV and Netflix, which acquired all five seasons in 2015 until its removal in the US in 2023. However, these platforms require a paid subscription, making the series less accessible to many until now.

With that, all five seasons of Z Nation that initially ran on Syfy from September 12, 2014, to December 28, 2018, are currently streaming on YouTube free with ads. The series was produced by The Asylum, the indie production and distribution company that hinted in March 2024 that a sixth season of Z Nation might be in the works. The update came close to six years after...

5 thrilling shows like The Walking Dead
Image
In 2010, AMC Networks premiered The Walking Dead, an apocalyptic series that aired for 12 years across 11 seasons. Based on the comics created by Robert Kirkman, the series became wildly popular, beyond what anyone could have imagined, and has inspired other series within the genre.

The Walking Dead has been praised for its earliest and final seasons, with mixed reviews for its seventh and eighth seasons. While it is set in an undead apocalypse, the stories revolve around the survivors and their experiences after the outbreak occurred. Many viewers note this is why the series became so popular.

Long-standing cast members for the series include Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Chandler Riggs, Melissa McBride, Lauren Cohan, Danai Gurira, Josh McDermitt, Christian Serratos, Seth Gilliam, Ross Marquand, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Several of these characters' stories have continued in the long line of spinoffs of the main series. Let's check out some...

Z Nation returns? The Asylum promises a big announcement is coming
Image
The horror TV series Z Nation was produced by The Asylum (a company best known for the Sharknado franchise and mockbusters) and aired on Syfy for five seasons, running for a total of 68 episodes from September 12, 2014 to December 28, 2018. Syfy's Z Nation: fun, low-budget, and well worth your time
facebook

twitter

google+

Z Nation, made by schlock specialists The Asylum, has just been renewed for season 3. Here's why you should be watching...

If AMC's The Walking Dead is the miserabilist emo-goth teen of the televisual zombie apocalypse, then SyFy's Z Nation is its swaggering, devil-may-care little cousin, who's having too much fun smoking weed, gorging on pop-culture tropes and generally dicking around to waste its time indulging in any gravely serious, existential, pseudo-political clap-trap. Therein lies the secret to Z Nation's appeal: it's fun. It laughs at itself, and wants you to laugh along, too.

Comparisons with The Walking Dead are inevitable, and not just because the two shows share the zombie apocalypse as a backdrop. Z Nation is made by The Asylum, a production company that's become synonymous with jumping on a bandwagon, copying the schematics for that bandwagon, and then producing their own bandwagon that is...

‘The Device’ DVD Review
Stars: Angela Dimarco, David S. Hogan, Kate Alden, Gabriel Congdon, Lorraine Montez, Ben Andrews, Russell Hodgkinson, Morgen Johnson | Written by Jeremy Berg, John Portanova | Directed by Jeremy Berg

Two estranged siblings, one significant other, a dead mother’s ashes and a cabin (yes, in the woods); what’s old is new again in this classy addition to the ever-growing subgenre. Like the recent Honeymoon, The Device is a cabin in the woods movie without irony, aware of what has gone before, but not resorting to nudge-nudge-wink-wink post-modernism in the process.

And, unlike most cabin-in-the-woods features, this one even dares to venture beyond its central location, actually letting its characters leave for home – a place few of the subgenre have ever dared to go (no, Army of Darkness doesn’t count). Scattering said dead mum’s ashes at an old secluded holiday home, sisters Abby and Rebecca discover a strange alien...

I think we all saw this “assassinate the president” scheme coming a mile away, but at least The Lottery is making some good decisions with it. As Vanessa and Alison get closer to uncovering Darius’ evil scheming, it puts Vanessa in some very hot water because she’s attempting to coerce the president’s wife to change venues when they announce the 100 mothers. Finally, there’s some actual tension in the air! Not only that, but Darius also has to target his daughter because she knows about the assassination attempt. Familial drama abounds.
