Kathryn Diss is an ABC Europe correspondent based in London. She was formerly North America correspondent in Washington DC for three years during which she extensively covered the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2020 US election. Before moving to America, she was South-East Asia correspondent in Bangkok, which led to her deployment to Hong Kong on multiple assignments to cover the pro-democracy protests. After finishing her post in the US, she returned to Australia to work as a reporter with ABC Investigations and was appointed as WA's chief reporter in Perth. Kathryn is an award-winning multiplatform reporter and video journalist who started her career in regional Western Australia. She spent several years working as a business specialist and held various editorial positions including chief of staff and deputy news editor.
