Every TV Show Leaving Netflix in January 2025
Image
Netflix, the world's largest streaming service, keeps its viewers engaged and subscribed through its carefully cultivated array of television shows available on the platform. Boasting acquired and original titles like Stranger Things, You, Squid Game, Arcane, and many more, the mega-streamer ensures its audience is always coming back for more. With many new shows coming to the platform throughout 2025, Netflix must remove some long-time staples from their service. Whether the license expires or the show isn't performing to its desired levels, sometimes sacrifices must be made to benefit Netflix and keep it the number one streaming platform.

Unfortunately, audiences can expect to say goodbye to many multi-season TV shows throughout this January. However, viewers must keep in mind that new shows and movies will replace what the platform will lose. A few of the platform's new additions will include American Primeval, Cunk on Life, and The Night Agent, Season 2. Despite the following TV series removals,...

Netflix’s ‘Undercover’ Gets Second Season, With a Story on Illegal Arms Sales
Frank Lammers, Tom Waes, Anna Drijver, Elise Schaap, and Sean Burgos in Undercover (2019)
A second season of Netflix’s first Benelux original, “Undercover,” is in production, and the story will move from focusing on the illicit drugs trade to the illegal arms business.

Non-English-language drama is finding a global audience on streaming platforms, and “Undercover” has ranked as one of Netflix’s most popular series in that category in the U.K. and fared well in Latin America and elsewhere.

The first run followed the a pair of cops from the Dutch and Belgian police forces going undercover to bust a drug ring manufacturing Ecstasy. Belgian pubcaster Vrt aired it locally and Netflix launched it in the U.S. and rest of the world, with the exceptions of France and Germany.

The second season, like the first, will comprise 10 installments. It is set a year after the events of the first run and will again follow Kim De Rooij, played by Anna Drijver,...

Nico Moolenaar Talks Netflix Canneseries Contender ‘Undercover’
Despite reports to the contrary, Netflix had two titles at Canneseries: Harlan Coben’s closing night drama “Safe,” with “Dexter’s” Michael C. Hall, and Nico Moolenaar’s “Undercover,” a Belgian crime thriller which the streaming giant boarded early in development, taking global rights outside France, Germany and Belgium and announcing “Undercover” last November as its first Belgian-Dutch co-production.

Given Netflix does not have first-window TV rights to either show in France – that privilege on “Undercover” goes to Federation Ent., which also sells second TV window outside German-speaking territories and Belgium – Netflix’s large a<nd early involvement with “Undercover” may have been lost on most market attendees.

In two ways at least, “Undercover” is a sign of the industry times: Its multi-lateral multi window financing; its grounding in a specific reality.

Produced for Flemish pubcaster Vrt by Belgium’s De Mensen, in co-production with Dutch FilmWorks, Good Friends, Gardner and Domm,...
