Realm Reveals New Scripted Crime Thriller Podcast ‘Echo Park’ Starring Harry Shum Jr.

Realm, the largest scripted podcast network that creates immersive, original fiction podcasts and audiobook series, released the trailer and announced casting for the Realm Original, “Echo Park,” starring and executive produced by Harry Shum Jr. launching August 18.

This pulse-pounding crime thriller takes place in a lightly futuristic world where Echoes—genetic clones of their sources— exist and live on the outskirts of society. James (Harry Shum Jr.) and Terrance share DNA, but they aren’t brothers. They aren’t even friends. As a civil advisor for the LAPD harboring a secret addiction, James relies on Terrance— his genetic clone—to help him pass mandatory drug testing. But when Terrance suddenly goes missing, and multiple clones end up murdered, a case of mistaken identity forces James to inhabit his double’s life, risking the unraveling of his carefully composed lies.

Exclusive: Indican Pictures has acquired One Moment, a family comedy starring the late Danny Aiello, with plans to release it in theaters in May and on VOD in July.

One Moment tells the story of middle-aged siblings struggling to manage their lives and careers while also caring for their recently widowed aging father, Joe (Aiello). Joe, demanding and difficult, stubbornly believes he is still capable of running his own life which leads to sad, but sometimes hilarious situations. Although at odds on how to best care for Joe in his final years, the family is united in wanting to ensure his well-being and help him find peace of mind—without them losing their own.

Casting Society Of America To Host Online Training & Open Call For Military Veterans

The Casting Society of America will host two virtual events this weekend for actors who are veterans of the armed forces. “Business of the Business,” an acting training event, will be held on Saturday, followed by an online open call on Sunday. Both are part of the Csa’s Commitment to Equity in Entertainment in Casting Initiative, a series of conversations, training events, and opportunities designed to change how actors in historically underrepresented communities are afforded access to job opportunities.

“The military veterans initiative continues our commitment to connect our casting director members with underrepresented artists, including Native American and Indigenous actors, trans and non-binary actors, performers with disabilities, seniors and Middle Eastern, North African & South Asian actors,” said Csa president Russell Boast. “These important events help casting directors to discover new talent and to better cast authentically with the ultimate goal of creating lasting change throughout the industry.”
