Is the youngest of three brothers. The oldest, Daniel, an Austin Police Officer, and Richard, a Science-Fiction writer.

Has also worked as a Locksmith, bartender, computer draftsman, door-to-door vacuum cleaner salesman, tele-marketer, door-to-door cable TV salesman, nightclub doorman, club promoter, Traveling Art Dealer, magazine journalist, Public Insurance Adjuster and a walking "Human Keg" beer dispenser at concert venues.

Studied acting at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of Theater in New York City.

Studied Archaeology at the University of Texas before becoming an actor.

Left home at 15, lived on the street as a runaway for nearly a year. Later returned to night school and completed his degree.

Was born at home due to a freak snow storm in Dallas, Texas; delivered by his maternal grandfather.
