  • He scored the 1999 Champions League winner against FC Bayern in Barcelona.
  • He supported Liverpool as a boy.
  • He did a year's National Service in the Norwegian Army.
  • He was known as the "Baby-Faced Assassin" because of his youthful looks and killer instincts in the box.
  • He trained as a wrestler. His dad was Norway's Greco-Roman Wrestling Champion from 1966-1971.
  • He injured his leg in his celebration during the 1999 Champions League Final against Bayern Munich.
  • He made his first appearance after 19 months out with a knee injury against Birminham FC.
  • He has three children, Noah, Karna and Elijah.
  • In 2005 he continued his rehabilitation from a knee injury which kept him out all season, and vowed to score again at Old Trafford for the fans who continued to sing his name throughout his absence.
