The Turning is a reimagined version of The Turn of the Screw with significant differences in setting and character development. The movie doesn't confirm the existence of ghosts haunting the mansion, leaving Kate mentally shaken and unsure of reality. The ambiguous ending of The Turning, criticized by many, prompts an alternate ending where Miles' possession by Peter Quint is left unresolved.
When The Turning was released in 2020, it was panned by critics and left many viewers confused about its ending. Based on the 1898 Henry James horror novella, The Turn of the Screw, The Turning follows Kate Mandell (Mackenzie Davis), a young woman who is hired to become the governess for Miles (Finn Wolfhard) and Flora Fairchild (Brooklynn Prince), the children of a wealthy family after the death of their parents. Kate's primary responsibility is to take care of the children, but that task soon becomes difficult when ghosts suddenly start haunting Miles and Flora.

The Hotel Gula, stately, luxurious and abandoned for over twenty years since the food for a party’s banquet was seasoned with rat poison leading to the painful death of everyone in attendance as well as the owner’s suicide. It’s hardly the kind of place that would need help to appear haunted.
But less than ten minutes into The Ghosts of Monday that’s exactly what Bruce the host of a ghost hunting show, is suggesting to the property’s new owners, Frank and Rosemary. This does not sit well with the show’s director Eric. And the last thing this production needs is more tension, Eric’s ex-wife, and Bruce’s daughter, Sofia is also part of the show’s crew.

Sofia (Marianna Rosset) is going home. She was born on Cyprus and spent the early part of her life there, but she’s uncomfortable about returning, especially to the Grand Hotel Gula. The trip is necessary because Eric (Mark Huberman) has work to do there, making yet another semi-promotional travel documentary – or at least that’s the plan to begin with. Producer Bruce (Julian Sands) has other ideas, and Sofia, knowing Eric’s volatility, tries to repress her own disquiet in order to smooth things over between the two of them, avoiding destructive conflict and making sure that Eric will get paid.
She’s the only person who has a persuasive influence over both of them. She’s known Bruce for a long time and is, notably, the only young woman he doesn’t hit on. She and Eric have had a romantic relationship which is now on the rocks...

"Bad dreams?" Entertainment One UK has debuted another new official 60-second trailer for the upcoming horror film The Turning, opening in one month at the end of January. This creepy new the-kids-are-not-alright thriller is a modern take on Henry James' novella "The Turn of the Screw". A young governess, Kate, is hired by a man who has just become responsible for his young nephew and niece after the deaths of their parents. But not everything is as it seems. Starring Mackenzie Davis, with Finn Wolfhard, Brooklynn Prince, Mark Huberman, Barbara Marten, Niall Greig Fulton, Kim Adis, Denna Thomsen, and Karen Egan. The first trailer was seriously scary and unsettling as hell, this one is chilling but not as scary. Here's the second short trailer (+ UK poster) for Floria Sigismondi's The Turning, from eOne's YouTube: You can still catch the first full-length trailer for Sigismondi's The Turning here to see even more footage.

Tagline: "Watch the Children with Care." The Turning is the latest film to find its inspiration from the novella The Turn of the Screw. This film fan has still not read this classic, despite its influences. Now, this latest interpretation will focus on a mysterious estate, in a Maine countryside. Here, a nanny is put in charge of two very special orphans. As well, Italian director Floria Sigismondi (The Runaways) has helmed this feature, with Carey and Chad Hayes adapting the screenplay. The film itself stars: Mackenzie Davis ("Black Mirror"), Finn Wolfhard, Brooklynn Prince, Mark Huberman, Barbara Marten and Niall Greig Fulton. Now, a trailer and poster are available for this supernatural infused feature. The Turning has been rated PG-13. Though difficult to create challenging horror with a PG-13 rating, The Turning relies on strange imagery to bring the scares. The PG-13 rating is for: terror, violence, disturbing images and suggestive content.

The Turning, a movie update of Henry James’s Turn of the Screw, stars Mackenzie Davis as the governess of two possessed children.
The Turning represents an entertainment industry Renaissance of sorts for the 1898 Henry James-penned gothic ghost story novella, Turn of the Screw, since it’s one of at least two major productions in the pipeline to adapt the classic, genre-defining story. The other offering will manifest as the upcoming second season iteration of Netflix’s horror anthology series, The Haunting of Bly Manor.
Interestingly, this particular Turn of the Screw adaptation, a film from director Floria Sigismondi, will brandish the surging star power of Mackenzie Davis, star of Terminator: Dark Fate, and Finn Wolfhard, one of the primary stars of Netflix’s smash hit series, Stranger Things, and the It films, which released its conclusion, It: Chapter Two, this past September.

Dark Touch is the story of an eleven year old girl called Niamh (Missy Keating) whose parents and baby brother are killed when household objects seemingly begin to attack them of their own accord. In this weekend’s specialty box-office debuts, IFC Films hopes to replicate the critical and commercial success of Michael Winterbottom’s first amusing little travelogue/talker of a feature, The Trip, with a semi-sequel, The Trip To Italy. The second Trip again stars Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon; the entertainingly garrulous pair on yet another jaunt across restaurants, countryside and philosophy. The latest Trip will bow in NYC and La this weekend after a successful Australian run earlier this summer (or their winter).
Frank, a British-Irish-American drama from Magnolia Pictures featuring Michael Fassbender that had runs at Sundance and SXSW, bows in only one U.S. theater this weekend. Frank centers on an eccentric band, giving Fassy fans a chance to hear the Oscar-nominated actor sing, albeit from behind a mask (he’s not bad, actually).
Other notable new films include Philippe Garrel‘s Jealousy, which Distrib Films will expand...

Following the first trailer that debuted in March, Magnolia Pictures has released the second trailer and two new posters for the upcoming comedy Frank. Based on the life of musician Frank Sidebottom (a.k.a. Chris Sievey), and the biography written by Jon Ronson, Frank explores the life of the enigmatic title character (Michael Fassbender), who never takes off his mask, and the young musician (Domhnall Gleeson) who joins the band. Maggie Gyllenhaal and Scoot McNairy co-star in director Lenny Abrahamson's comedy, arriving in theaters August 15.
Frank is a comedy about a young wannabe musician, Jon, who discovers he's bitten off more than he can chew when he joins a band of eccentric pop musicians led by the mysterious and enigmatic Frank and his terrifying sidekick, Clara. Frank's uniqueness lies in the fact that he makes music purely for the joy of creating...and because he wears a giant fake head.

Frank, the latest film from the supremely promising Lenny Abrahamson, is perhaps one of the most passive-aggressive films ever made. A film which brings people in with the promise of Michael Fassbender only to have him wear a giant Frank Sidebottom head throughout. A film which seems to have been given permissions and access by the oh-so-hip SXSW festival and the titan of social media, Twitter, only to have the film acidically mock and berate those who attend and use them respectively. A film that casts the likeable Domnhall Gleeson as our narrator through its crazy journey only to have him succumb to ever higher levels of being an awful human being, albeit one who feels like he could be just like many members of the audience (hey,...

The legendary career of musician Frank Sidebottom (a.k.a. comedian Chris Sievey) is put on display in the first trailer for Frank. Although you can't tell just from watching the footage, Michael Fassbender stars as Frank Sidebottom, who became notorious for always wearing a paper mache head, years before Daft Punk gained notoriety for never revealing their faces. This dark comedy is loosely based on the memoirs written by Jon Ronson (Domhnall Gleeson), who joins Frank's eclectic band. Maggie Gyllenhaal and Scoot McNairy co-star in director Lenny Abrahamson's bizarre comedy, which doesn't have a domestic release date set at this time, but will debut in U.K. theaters May 9.
Frank comes to theaters in 2014 and stars Michael Fassbender, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Scoot McNairy, Domhnall Gleeson, Lauren Poole, Hayley Derryberry, Mark Huberman, Travis Hammer. The film is directed by Lenny Abrahamson.
