King Charles and the royal family arrived today at the opening of Royal Ascot as this year marks the 200th centenary of the first royal procession.
The Royal Procession Was Introduced By King George IV In 1825
The summer season is filled with huge social events on the royal calendar, as they recently celebrated the King’s official birthday at Trooping the Colour this past weekend. Then, yesterday, the ceremony of the Order of the Garter took place.
Today, King Charles and Queen Camilla rode in a horse-drawn carriage. Today marked 200 years since this pomp and circumstance display first started.
The tradition was introduced by King George IV in 1825 when the monarch was escorted by the fifth Duke of Wellington, Arthur Charles Wellesley.
They rode in the first carriage to the tune of the national anthem. Today’s very special guest was Peter Phillips, Princess Anne’s son, and King Charles’ nephew.

Today, Collider is pairing with Sony Pictures Entertainment’s Madison Gate Records to take fans behind the music. As we quickly approach the March 28 arrival of the Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue Original Score release, the team behind the limited series’ stunning soundtrack gives audiences an all-access pass to learn more about how the original score was created. Looping in the MGM+ series’ Ivor Novello-nominated composer Chris Roe, the musician was kind enough to film a handful of never-before-seen videos that explain where he got the idea for several of the production’s themes.
Before we jump into Roe’s demonstrations, for those who may not know, Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue is the latest series set for release on MGM+. Created and written by novelist and screenwriter Anthony Horowitz (Midsommar Murders), the project follows nine strangers who find themselves trapped in a Mexican jungle after their airplane goes down.

After the mic drop moment in Season 1, Episode 3, “Rapido”, Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue gets medieval. With bodies piled up and suspects thinning out, murder is the only thing on the menu for someone. Either by suffocation, decapitation, or plain poisoning, people are being eliminated. Ammunition is running low, morale is at rock bottom, and trust has evaporated. With audiences watching from the sidelines, it is time for interrogation as Season 1, Episode 4, “The Short Straw,” applies some Quentin Tarantino tactics. Methods that will push some people to a breaking point and strip away their humanity.
Ramping up the tension with some old-fashioned torture might seem like a cliché, but Anthony Horowitz has waited long enough. Putting the prospect of elected punishment into play opens this show up to some broader debates, like moral and ethical arguments around the choices people make in extreme situations, for one. The following contains spoilers for Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue Season 1, Episode 1, "Black Angels," which debuts Sunday, Mar. 9 on MGM+ .
Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue had to get better. After an opening episode that struggled to hit pay dirt dramatically, another installment of this MGM+ original was not a welcome prospect. For a series that had been hailed as a complex murder mystery filled with countless twists and turns, there was little evidence of that in the premiere. An hour of bone-dry introductions that did little to instill confidence or give this group of talented actors much to work with. However, with two bodies already under a tarp, at least this murder-mystery will be short-lived.
What a difference a day makes; not only is Season 1, Episode 2, “Black Angels” an improvement on that opener, but it feels like a different show. Gone are those awkward moments of dramatic downtime...

Stranded in the jungle, the real danger isn’t the wilderness – it’s each other.
Nine bodies. Ten passports. One crashed plane. That’s the setup of “Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue,” the new MGM+ mystery thriller premiering Sunday, March 2, at 9 a.m. Et. I love a good murder mystery - whether it’s the playful twists of “Only Murders in the Building” or the dark, brooding intensity of “True Detective,” I can’t get enough. That’s why this one has me pumped. The series kicks off with a light aircraft crash in the Mexican jungle - miraculously, almost all the passengers survive. But as they fight the heat, the wild, and each other, they start dying in violent and mysterious ways. Don’t miss a moment of the mystery with a subscription to MGM+ through Prime Video.

The MGM+ survival thriller Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue makes a pretty bold statement. By the title alone, viewers know most of the show's characters won't make it to the end. What does that mean to the actors playing the survivors of a plane crash? And did any of them know the identity of the murderer?
In an interview with Cbr, stars Siobhàn McSweeney (who plays Lisa) and Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (who portrays Lisa's husband Travis) spoke about what drew them to the miniseries from Alex Rider creator Anthony Horowitz. They spoke about the show's very unique filming experience and how it helped them. Plus, how much of a departure is this from their past roles in other hits like Derry Girls and Severance?
Cbr: What was it about Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue that initially excited you about the miniseries?
Ólafur Darri Ólafsson: First of all, the name.

Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue, Season 1, conceived by Anthony Horowitz for MGM+, offers a fresh take on the murder mystery by inverting expectations—those who fall victim find themselves thrust into investigative roles.
The series sets its stage with a plane crash that leaves survivors in an isolated environment, forcing characters to confront both a physical catastrophe and internal conflicts. This reimagining of familiar crime narratives provides an opening that challenges standard formulas, creating a platform where every casualty may hide secrets waiting to be uncovered.
The series carries a measured, tension-laden atmosphere that slowly unfolds its layers of mystery. Its narrative, structured around strategic flashbacks and careful scene transitions, creates moments that invite viewers to reflect on deeper social themes.
The ensemble cast, drawn from varied backgrounds, contributes significantly to the depiction of modern societal issues, offering a window into contemporary discussions on representation.

The following contains spoilers for Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue Season 1, Episode 1, "Dead Reckoning," which debuts Sunday, Mar. 2 on MGM+ .
Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue is a murder-mystery pure and simple. Created by best-selling author Anthony Horowitz for MGM+, it reverse engineers a crime fiction cliché by having the victims turn detective. Coming on like Lost in a South American rainforest, this opening episode starts by laying down some foundations. It gives nothing away to say that Nine Bodies plays a mean game of poker with the audience during that first hour. Conversations between the Mexican military manning this morgue are rife with unanswered questions. There are no body bags yet, and the idea of autopsies is a pipedream for another episode.
With an ensemble cast including Eric McCormack and David Ajala from Star Trek: Discovery, there is not a lot to work with, even after an hour.

Eric McCormack must find an unseen killer from among nine plane crash survivors in the Mexican jungle as, one by one, they face getting killed off in the official trailer for MGM+’s Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue.

Manville returns as Susan Ryeland, a book editor with an uncanny knack for finding herself embroiled in murder mysteries. The latest case sees her back in England, where she becomes entangled in a new Atticus Pünd mystery penned by an emerging writer. Set in 1955 at a luxurious Corfu villa, “Pünd’s Last Case” harbors more than just fictional intrigue – a real killer’s identity lies hidden within its pages, putting Susan in mortal danger once again.

‘Moonflower Murders’ Team Explains Why the Masterpiece Mystery Is Unlike Anything Else on TV (Video)
Magpie Murders is back with the latest installment, Moonflower Murders. Like the first series, it follows Susan Ryeland (Lesley Manville), an editor, solving a real murder mirrored by a mystery in a client’s novel. Pippa Bennett-Warner plays Madeline, a character in the story within a story. “I tried not to think about the play-within-the-plays type thing because what was happening to her was absolutely happening to her,” says Bennett-Warner of playing a fictional character, even within the world of the show. While the real mystery is happening in the present, Bennett-Warner’s character exists in the 1950s. Says Anthony Horowitz, the author of the Magpie Murders book series, “We have a 1950s detective having a relationship with a 21st-century editor…there’s nothing on television that’s quite like it.” Says Bennett-Warner of the period setting, “We’d look at the monitor after some of the takes and it...

With the current titleholder of Bond 26, the production for the next entry in the 007 franchise has had its fair share of problems. While the SAG-AFTRA strike is one of the key reasons why the production is going to see a long period between Bond movies, the production has also struggled to find a director and cast to bring the secret agent back to the screen. It has been frustrating for fans and likely a headache for Eon Productions, which has overseen every entry in the franchise; it is not even known which book the movie is going to be based on, though most believe Forever and a Day by Anthony Horowitz will be the top choice.
Some revelations are slowly being made about the cast and director, including Eon Productions discussing short-listed directors to helm the film, but in a recent revelation from actor Ben Whishaw by Deadline,...

The PBS series Moonflower Murders treats viewers to a cleverly crafted dual-narrative mystery. Adapted from Anthony Horowitz’s novels, it stars Lesley Manville as Susan Ryeland, an editor turned amateur sleuth. Just like in the previous installment, Magpie Murders, Moonflower Murders follows Susan as she investigates an actual murder that seems tied to the unsolved crime in a new novel by late author Alan Conway.
This latest case brings Susan back to her former hometown in England after settling in Greece. There, a couple finds alarming similarities between Conway’s latest fictional murder and a recent death at their country inn. At the same time, Susan dives into Conway’s story of a 1950s actress murdered at a lavish home. She closely examines the book for any clues it may hold about both past and present crimes.
What makes Moonflower Murders so enjoyable is how seamlessly it interweaves these parallel narratives.

New viewers and old fans now have a rare chance to catch up with the darkly comedic BBC hit Magpie Murders beginning August 11 when PBS re-airs the original series before the debut of its sequel, Moonflower Murders. Adapted by Anthony Horowitz from his own twisty best-selling novel, the series features multiple twists, more than a dozen delightfully likely suspects, red herrings, and a shocking ending that rivals the best of Agatha Christie. Its two parallel plotlines center on book editor Susan Ryeland, wonderfully played by Lesley Manville, best known for her Oscar-nominated performance in 2017s Phantom Thread.

More than a decade after the 2011 release of Steven Spielberg’s criminally underrated The Adventures of Tintin hit theaters, fans of Hergé’s beloved characters continue to wonder if we’ll ever see a sequel. Andy Serkis, who voices Captain Archibald Haddock and Sir Francis Haddock in the 2011 original, says Tintin producer Peter Jackson is still working on another film featuring the dynamic duo of Captain Haddock and Tintin. In October 2011, Peter Jackson said he would direct The Adventures of Tintin 2. However, the silence on the project has been deafening ever since.
Originally, Steven Spielberg wanted to release The Adventures of Tintin 2 in 2015, but the legendary filmmaker’s schedule had other plans. At the time, Spielberg said a follow-up to the 2011 animated film would adapt two books in the Tintin saga. Screenwriter Anthony Horowitz was reportedly working on a screenplay but left the project in 2018. Jackson and Spielberg have yet...

Those teen spies, they grow up so fast! “This show means so much to me. Along with aforementioned costars Brenock O’Connor and Marli Siu, who play his junior James Bond’s best pals and sometimes sidekicks Tom and Kyra, Farrant has spent nearly half a decade bringing Anthony Horowitz‘s YA best sellers about an underaged special-ops agent to rollicking, adrenalized life for Freevee (formerly known as IMDbTV). “I think it was five years ago that I did my first audition. We’ve got three seasons and I think this season is the best one yet.” “It does feel like an enormous journey to have made,” echoes book series author and exec producer Horowitz. “And of course, because of the time...

All eight installments drop on April 5 and will focus even more heavily on the criminal network known as Scorpia. Executive producer, Eve Gutierrez, reveals that the writers had a clear idea of how Alex would evolve throughout the show, and the creative team views season 3 as the final chapter of the current iteration. Given the success of Anthony Horowitz's books, there's always a chance for the adventure to, someday, be revisited in a different capacity.
