She wrote books, including "Jack Oakie's Oakridge," about their estate, the honeymoon home of actors Robert Taylor and Barbara Stanwyck.

However, in her most famous role as Myrtle Mae Simmons in Harvey (1950) she appeared as a long haired blonde.

She donated her Oakridge estate to the University of Southern California which established the Oakie Chair in Comedy.
