  • She wrote books, including "Jack Oakie's Oakridge," about their estate, the honeymoon home of actors Robert Taylor and Barbara Stanwyck.
  • However, in her most famous role as Myrtle Mae Simmons in Harvey (1950) she appeared as a long haired blonde.
  • She donated her Oakridge estate to the University of Southern California which established the Oakie Chair in Comedy.
  • Brunette character comedienne of American films in the 1940's and early 50's. She was a graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.
  • In an interview, she said that she is not, as has often been stated, the daughter of director James W. Horne and in fact had never even met him; he died in 1942 and she, being raised in New Jersey, didn't arrive in Hollywood until 1943.
