Actor Jack Merrill Has Theory Why Serial Killer John Wayne Gacy Let Him Go
Image
[Warning: This article contains descriptions of sexual abuse.] Law and Order alum Jack Merrill is revealing more detail about his horrific encounter with serial killer John Wayne Gacy, who abducted and sexually abused him when he was 19 years old. Merrill discusses the ordeal in his one-man play The Save, which debuted in October 2024, detailing how he met and ultimately survived Gacy in 1978 in Chicago, Illinois. “The whole reason I’m doing The Save is to connect with people in a way that is way different from what most would expect from someone who has experienced what I have,” Merrill told Us Weekly following a performance of the play this past Friday (January 17). Gacy was arrested in 1978 and, in 1980, was found guilty of 33 counts of murder. He was executed in 1994. In his play, Merrill talks about his childhood and how it prepared him for dealing with Gacy. According to Us Weekly, the actor revealed how his parents were emotionally,...

Law & Order's Jack Merrill Recalls Being Drugged and Assaulted by John Wayne Gacy
Image
Law & Order's Jack Merrill has detailed a terrifying ordeal with John Wayne Gacy. Gacy, who became known as The Killer Clown, was a serial killer who raped and murdered at least 33 young men throughout the 1970s. In 1978, Merrill accepted a ride from Gacy, who drugged and raped the then 19-year-old. Gacy would typically lure his victims by promising them work or money, before torturing them, raping and murdering them. He would dispose of bodies in a nearby river or his home's crawl space (where police discovered 26 bodies). Merrill's encounter with the notorious killer took place in 1978, the same year he was apprehended by police. In a People article, Merill recounts the incident in his own words.

Merrill's piece begins with an anecdote about his upbringing. According to Merrill, he lived in "a beautiful home but a very unhappy place." His mother had "a narcissistic personality" and he and his...

Rip Taylor
Rip Taylor Dies, Crying Comedian & King of Confetti Was 84
Rip Taylor
The world is now a lot less funny, as legendary entertainer Rip Taylor has passed away. Boasting such nicknames as the "King of Confetti" and "The Crying Comedian," Taylor was widely known for his unique appearance and comedic delivery, making him a popular name in the nightclub scene. Taylor had also made a wide variety of television appearances across many decades as well. His over-the-top personality, trademark mustache, and habit of dousing others with confetti made him instantly memorable for anyone who's ever seen him. Sadly, Taylor died after suffering from a seizure last week which landed him in the ICU. He was 84 years old.

After a particularly rough childhood, Taylor worked as a congressional page before enlisting in the United States Army and serving in the Korean War. This led to the start of his career in comedy, as Taylor began performing stand-up in restaurants and clubs while stationed abroad.
