Vividly beautiful blonde leading co-star of 1940s westerns; her father was Jack Holt (one of the 36 founders of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences [AMPAS]) and her brother was Tim Holt, both western stars on their own.

Cartoonist Al Capp drew his bumbling detective character "Fearless Fosdick" to closely resemble her father, Jack Holt. Cartoonist Chester Gould also based the granite-jawed profile of Dick Tracy on Jack Holt.

In 1949 she won a TV Guide award for best performance on a children's program for her role as "Aunt Judy" on The Adventures of Uncle Mistletoe (1948).
