- His two most famous movies starred John Cusack... They are Gagner ou mourir (1985) and Un été fou fou fou (1986). Both combine animation (Cusack plays a cartoonist in each) into the story, and have become cult films.
- Holland studied animation at the California Institute of the Arts. His student project "Going Nowhere Fast" was exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art.
- Along with Bill Kopp, Holland created and a produced the cartoon program Eek! the Cat (1992) for the Fox Kids Network. The original idea for the show came from Holland's experience as a cat owner. One of his cats was named Eek.
- Holland began his career animating the "Whammy", the red cartoon creatures on the hit CBS Daytime game show Press Your Luck (1983).

- Holland earned the childhood nickname Savage after he kicked a kid in the teeth during a soccer game.
