John Carver will return to kill again in a sequel to Eli Roth's 2023 slasher movie Thanksgiving. The sequel has been in development for a while now, basically since the first movie released.

With Thanksgiving months away, Nell Verlaque is getting ready for a second serving of Eli Roth‘s seasonal slasher.

At last Wednesday’s premiere of Prime Video‘s Overcompensating, the actress told Deadline that she’s “really excited” to get into production on the sequel to 2023’s Thanksgiving, which she hopes to film after completing production on her upcoming MGM+ series American Classic.

“I think we will be filming this year,” said Verlaque on the red carpet at the Hollywood Palladium. “I actually just saw Eli, and we’re talking about some plot points, so I’m really excited for it.”

With the first installment surpassing $46 million worldwide and Certified Fresh at 84% on Rotten Tomatoes, Roth announced a sequel on Instagram a few weeks after the original’s premiere in November 2023.

Thanksgiving star Nell Verlaque, who will return for the sequel, says in a new chat with Variety that she expects filming to take place on Thanksgiving 2 later this year.

“There is a script. I know that the goal is to film it this year,” Verlaque tells the outlet.

The actress notes, “[Eli Roth’s] a great director. I told him I really wanted to be tortured… like fully pain, tortured [in the sequel]. I would like to get covered in blood. I’ve read certain parts of [the script] and… he’s told me a few of the ideas.

Per Deadline, NBCUniversal's President of Program Planning Strategy addressed the network's massive wave of scripted cancellations during a press conference this past Saturday. When asked why Suits LA landed on the chopping block, Bader admitted "it’s so hard to talk about shows and which ones we’re bringing back." Unfortunately, Suits LA's dismal ratings and critical reception were what led to the show's cancellation.

"Suits LA had a very short run, but it really has not resonated [with audiences in] the way we thought it would," Bader explained to reporters. "There can be many, many reasons why it hasn’t resonated, but...

“Suits LA” has been canceled at NBC after just one season, Variety has learned.

The expansion of the “Suits” universe originally launched on NBC in February. The cast includes Stephen Amell, Lex Scott Davis, Josh McDermitt and Bryan Greenberg. A number of original “Suits” cast members have made appearances, including Gabriel Macht, Rick Hoffman, and David Costabile.

The show had a lot of buzz behind it going into the premiere, given that “Suits” had found an incredible new life on streaming on Netflix. But “Suits LA” failed to match that hype, with the show making only a small dent in the ratings and drawing mostly negative reviews upon its debut.

Exclusive: It’s one and done for NBC’s legal drama Suits LA headlined by Stephen Amell, a spinoff of the long-running USA Network series Suits.

Given the high-profile IP involved, NBC had high expectations for the series from Suits creator Aaron Korsh. They never materialized: after an Ok premiere, viewership for the offshoot, which airs on Sunday, has remained low.

That is with NBC and Korsh pulling out all the stops and bringing back popular original cast members to play with the new cast. They included Gabriel Macht, who reprised the role of Harvey Specter in a three-episode arc, Rick Hoffman as eccentric Louis Litt in episode 112 and David Costabile as Daniel Hardman in episode 109.

Additionally, in an effort to bring in more eyeballs, NBC staged a Thursday night Suits LA takeover with a three-hour marathon of repeats on March 27.

Suits LAstar Azita Ghanizada recently opened up about the new spin-off's cameos with the original series cast. She also shared who she'd like her character to cross paths with in the future.

In an interview with Brittany Frederick of Cbr, Ghanizada talked about her character of Rosalyn Nori and how she was able to work with a few members of the original Suits cast while filming the new spin-off, which premiered on NBC Feb. 23, 2025. "Alphas was filming when Suits was filming, so we've got Rick Hoffman in [episode] 12, and we just gabbed it up at at the table read. He was like, this is so great [that] you're on this, do you remember 12 years ago?" she said, referencing her own superhero drama series, Alphas, which was filming on Syfy at the same time as Suits.

Suits LA is bringing back one more original cast member before its first season concludes on May 18. Azita Ghanizada, who portrays Ted Black's no-nonsense assistant Rosalyn in the spinoff series, recently opened up about getting the chance to work with Rick Hoffman in the penultimate episode, "Angry Sylvester."

In an interview with Cbr, Ghanizada first expressed how excited she was for fans to fully take in the spinoff once all 13 episodes had aired. "There's been so much to unpack and to get through, to tell this story of this prosecutor turned into an entertainment lawyer of all things...
