    • Johanna Hofer was born on July 30, 1896 in Berlin, Germany. She was an actress, known for Possession (1981), Im Reservat (1973) and Le secret de Veronika Voss (1982). She was married to Fritz Kortner. She died on June 30, 1988 in Munich, Bavaria, West Germany.

  • Diminutive stage actress, who began her career with Max Reinhardt in Berlin. Married to the leading actor Fritz Kortner in 1924. Left Germany with her husband to escape Nazi persecution, emigrating to the United States via England. Appeared in supporting roles in a few Hollywood productions, returning to Germany in 1948. Alternated acting on stage in Munich and Berlin with more frequent appearances in television, including guest spots on popular crime shows like "Derrick" and "Der Alte".
  • She got married with the actor and director Fritz Kortner in 1924 and both influenced the Berliner theater in the next years.
  • The attacks against Fritz Kortner became more violent and they emigrated to Vienna and later to London, New York and Hollywood.
  • When the atmosphere in Germany overturned in 1933 and a chase against Jews began, the couple Hofer/Kortner didn't return to Germany after a foreign country tour.
  • She and her husband returned to Germany in 1947 and Johanna Hofer was able to continue her theater career.
