Was a fully qualified doctor in England, who turned to comedy after becoming disillusioned with the NHS.

Once stepped forward when a plane passenger called out "Is there a Doctor on Board?" When everybody recognised him as his comic persona, there was a ripple of laughter and cries of protest. So he sat down again, saying "Oh, well, I've probably forgotten it all by now, anyway.".

In 1992 he won the Perrier Best Newcomer Award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival

Won two British Comedy Awards, 2006.
