Will Jonathan Majors Do Full Drag and Wear Dennis Rodman’s Wedding Dress in NBA Film? It’s a ‘Possibility’
Image
Welcome to this week’s “Just for Variety.”

Jonathan Majors is getting ready to star as Dennis Rodman in “48 Hours in Vegas,” Lionsgate’s upcoming film about the former Chicago Bulls player’s infamous weekend trip to Sin City in the middle of the 1998 NBA Finals against the Utah Jazz.

Majors, who stars in the new Korean War drama “Devotion,” says he hasn’t talked to Rodman yet. “It’s on my list,” he told me at the Governors Awards. “I know where he’s at and I think he’s open-hearted and wants to collaborate. I want to do justice by him.”

Two years before the story in the film takes place, Rodman created quite a stir when he showed up at a book signing in New York City for his memoir, “Bad As I Wanna Be,” in full white wedding-dress drag. I asked Majors if there’s a...

Barack Obama
There's no better time than the holiday season to reach out and give back to our communities. On Dec. 14, former President Obama spent time at a Boys & Girls Club in Washington DC, handing out presents and spreading holiday cheer. According to the Washington Post, Obama Claus shook hands and greeted about 50 middle school students at their after-school program. Donning a "cool dad" leather jacket and a festive Santa hat, he's clearly the most stylish Claus we've ever seen. "There's no better time than the holiday season to reach out and give back to our communities," he wrote on Twitter. Well, based on the video that Obama's communications director posted on Twitter,...

12 forgotten hosts of the biggest TV shows from Brian Dunkleman to Daisy Donovan
American Idol was announced to be coming to an end after 15 seasons yesterday (May 12), but did you know that Ryan Seacrest used to have a co-host?

Brian Dunkleman hosted the Fox competition's first season alongside Ryan Seacrest, before the latter took sole control. History has not been kind to poor old Brian since, with Fox TV CEO Dana Walden joking about a possible reunion for the pair.

"Where is Brian Dunkleman? If you give me his number, I will call and invite him," she joked, though Dunkleman gave as good as he got last night:

I knew American Idol would never last without me #Cancelled

— brian dunkleman (@briandunkleman) May 11, 2015

To honour Dunkleman, we have collected a few hosts of massive shows that you may have cruelly forgotten, starting with the man himself.

1. Brian Dunkleman (American Idol)

The comedian co-hosted the Fox series with Ryan Seacrest for its first season, which...

Katy Hill in Blue Peter (1958)
Oklahoma teens Katie Hill and Arin Andrews made headlines last July when the story of their unique romance, which was featured in a 20/20 segment, went viral. Hill, 19, was in the process of transitioning from male to female when she met Andrews, 18, who was undergoing his own transformation from female to male. While supporting each other through these major life changes, the two teens fell in love. Now the former couple - they broke up earlier this year - announce to People they're sharing their stories in two separate memoirs to be released Sept. 30. "It's a story of acceptance, love, triumph...

Meet the teen couple who fell in love after both had sex swap treatment
Katy Hill in Blue Peter (1958)
London, Nov 10: If you take a look at teenage sweethearts Katie Hill and Arin Andrews, they would seem like any other young couple, but the truth is - both were born the opposite sex.

The pair spent their childhoods trapped in the "wrong bodies" and battled years of bullying at school.

Andrews, 16, was born a girl named Emerald, a talented ballet dancer who was a champion at beauty pageants.

Girlfriend Hill, 18, grew up as a boy called Luke who struggled for 15 years to accept her "boy body," the Mirror reported.

But the couple, from Tulsa, Oklahoma, met and fell in love after each discovered they were transgender.

I Can Haz Film Festival?
Katy Hill in Blue Peter (1958)
Minneapolis — Warning: This is a story about online cat videos. If you're among the seemingly tiny minority of the general population not interested in watching a 1-minute clip of a cat in a T-shirt pounding on a keyboard, then move along.

For everyone else, a new measure of respectability is looming for an Internet pleasure that is both massively popular and, for some people, a bit embarrassing. The Walker Art Center, a well-regarded museum of modern art in Minneapolis, on Thursday is presenting its first "Internet Cat Video Film Festival" to showcase the best in filmed feline hijinks.

With about 70 videos over 60 minutes, the Walker is mounting a social experiment as much as a film festival. At issue is whether cat video lovers used to gorging on the clips in the privacy of their homes will do so in public – an online community of fellow aficionados interacting face to face for the first time.

'Blue Peter' dog Mabel passes away
Mwaka Mudenda, Lindsey Russell, Adam Beales, and Richie Driss in Blue Peter (1958)
Blue Peter has announced that the programme's former dog Mabel has passed away. The beloved canine died after a 14-year career on the Cbbc show. Although Mabel's precise age is unknown as she was a rescue dog, it is thought that she was around 16 years old when she died. Mabel was originally featured on the programme on January 8, 1996 when Katy Hill met her while making a film about the Rspca. The border collie joined the programme on February 19, 1996 when she drove into the studio with inspector Mark Buggie. Her name was inspired by the letters MAB1 on her Rspca kennel. Mabel retired from the show in the summer of 2010 and became the second-longest-serving (more)...
