Edward Heyman
Lyricist ("When I Fall in Love," "Body and Soul"), author and producer, educated at the University of Michigan. He wrote college musicals, then Broadway musicals, including "Here Goes the Bride," "Through the Years," "Murder at the Vanities," and "Pardon Our French," plus "Bluebird of Happiness" for Radio City Music Hall. Coming to Hollywood in 1938, he wrote songs for films until joining the US Air Force during World War II, where he wrote the musical "At Your Service." By 1954 and into 1961, he produced for The Players, a Mexico City English-speaking theater group. Joining ASCAP in 1931, his chief musical collaborators included Arthur Schwartz, Vincent Youmans, Victor Young, Morton Gould, Dana Suesse, Nacio Herb Brown, James Van Heusen, Johnny Green, Ray Henderson, Oscar Levant, Richard Myers, Sigmund Romberg, and Rudolf Friml. His other popular-song lyrics include "Blue Star," "Out of Nowhere," "I Cover the Waterfront," "Hello, My Lover, Goodbye," "Drums in My Heart," "Through the Years," "Kinda Like You," "You're Everywhere," "My Silent Love," "You're Mine, You," "I Wanna Be Loved," "Blame It on My Youth," "To Love You and To Lose You," "It's High Time I Got the Low-Down on You," "Carefree" (theme of the Chesterfield Hour), "Moonburn," "You Oughta Be in Pictures," "Bluebird of Happiness," "Easy Come, Easy Go," "Love and Learn," "Seal It With a Kiss," "Boo-Hoo," "They Say," "Have You Forgotten So Soon?," "The Sky Fell Down," "Love Letters," "Strange Love," "If I Could Steal a Kiss," "No More Shadows," "All Yours," and "The More I See of Lisa." When he was not writing a song lyric, he and his partner Lou LaFrance enjoyed renovating old houses and reselling them.
