Marianne came to New York from Germany as a teenager without knowing anybody and $800 in her pocket. She studied acting on a scholarship at the National Shakespeare Conservatory.

As a 19-year old she wrote and performed her one-person show 'Heaven & Earth' at the Cubiculo Theater in Manhattan. In the play she portrayed Martha, a 53-year old woman who learns to have a choice how to live each moment even though she's dying from terminal cancer.
