A native of Newark, New Jersey, Norman T. Herman received his education
at Rutgers University and New York University. His entrance into the
film business was as an accountant at American International Pictures,
which he joined in 1955. He soon became a producer at AIP, responsible
for such films as Hot Rod Girl (1956), Bloody Mama (1970) and Le vampire noir (1972). He also directed a pair
of exploitation "documentaries" in the late 1950s and early 1960s. He
spent most of his career, though, in various executive positions at a
variety of studios, although he did turn to writing scripts for several
TV series in the 1960s, such as Les envahisseurs (1967).
