Stated in an interview that he no longer attempt to do another film based on a comic book after the experience with The Punisher (2004). He felt he can never please either fans of "The Punisher", who some of them thought the movie was too light, or critics who thought the movie was too dark and too violent.

Was originally slated to direct a sequel of The Punisher (2004) with Thomas Jane returning as Frank Castle/The Punisher. However, due to creative differences and budget cuts made by Lionsgate, Hensleigh left the project which Thomas Jane who leave later on for the same reason. Lionsgate then replace Hensleigh with director Lexi Alexander and decided to reboot the film into Punisher : Zone de guerre (2008).

Is a fan of the London-based football team, Arsenal.

In 1998, Jonathan was set to make his directorial debut with the Marvel Comics hero The Hulk, but plans for that project failed. His wife Gale Anne Hurd was the producer.

Stepfather of Lolita De Palma.

He is now filming his new movie The Punisher (2004) for Marvel which he is writing and directing and is due for release in Summer 2004. (August 2003)
