Warren Zevon’s son isn’t sure how his late father would feel about finally getting inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. “By now he’d be 78,” Jordan Zevon tells Rolling Stone. “How would 78-year-old pop react to it? He could have been the crankiest, get-off-my-lawn-guy on the planet, or he might’ve morphed into the story-time grandpa with hard candy in his pocket and think it’s delightful. We just don’t know.”

I didn’t arrive late to the climate change party — in fact, I was invited by Don Henley himself. In the late ’80s, my husband, Chevy Chase, and I were gifted a book from Don: The End of Nature, by Bill McKibben. That book cracked something wide open in me.
Chevy and I met in 1980, and I was already activated. By 1983, somewhat buried articles about how much energy we use and how much we throw away here in the U.S. made me feel I had to do something.
I felt compelled to educate myself and do whatever I could to share what I learned. I gravitated toward like-minded moms in Pacific Palisades and we began building what became The Center for Environmental Education. Dr. Tom Lovejoy — the man who literally coined the term “biodiversity” — and Denis Hayes, the founder of Earth Day, are just two of the several dedicated...

Even though Leonardo DiCaprio has delivered banger after banger throughout his tenure in Hollywood’s entertainment industry as an actor, not many come as close to perfection at its peak as The Wolf of Wall Street. To say the least, that epic biographical black comedy crime film not only exceeded expectations but also turned out to be beyond immersive and intriguing.
The Wolf of Wall Street. | Credits: Paramount Pictures.
Besides becoming a major commercial success with its $407 million gross on a $100 million budget (via Box Office Mojo) – becoming Martin Scorsese’s highest-grossing film, the R-rated (and initially deemed controversial) masterpiece also earned rave reviews from fans and critics worldwide, going on to be nominated for 5 stunning Oscars, among other major accolades.
Being such a massively commended project, it’s only understandable that people want more of it through similar pieces. Turns out, similar pieces do exist: In the television shows field.

Sam Moore, who with with partner Dave Prater helped bring the sound of the church to pop music with a string of call-and-response hits as the high tenor in the famed Stax Records duo Sam & Dave, has died. He was 89.
Moore died Friday morning in Coral Gables, Florida, of complications recovering from surgery, his rep Jeremy Westby announced.

Cover songs are a divisive topic in music, at once celebrated for their ability to bring new life to old material while also being decried as the provenance of schlocky tribute acts or wedding singers. Yet covers have been an integral part of rock and roll ever since the beginning, with many of rock's earliest stars relying heavily on old blues standards.
There's certainly no formula to what makes a good cover song. Some are great because they distill a song's essence into a stronger form of itself, relying on an artist's chops and passion to stand out from what came before, even if not much changes in the arrangement. Some are transformative, playing with genre and instrumentation to create something that would never otherwise have existed. Here, then, are ten rock covers that rocked way harder than the originals.

Stevie Nicks is best known for her work with Fleetwood Mac, an iconic band from the 70s that took the world by storm with songs like Landslide, Go Your Own Way, and Rhiannon. Fast Times at Ridgemont High is a classic 1980s movie that has stood the test of time. One of the reasons for its enduring popularity is the memorable soundtrack that accompanies the film. The Go-Go's "We Got the Beat" kicks off the movie and its upbeat pop style helps set the tone. The Tom Petty classic "American Girl" helps present Stacy as the true lead character of the movie and establishes this as her coming-of-age story.
The Fast Times at Ridgemont High soundtrack is full of great songs by such legendary musical artists as Led Zeppelin and Stevie Nicks. The movie charts a year in the lives of a group of students at the titular high school as they endure strict teachers, entry-level jobs, and awkward early sexual encounters. Eagles singer Don Henley is seeking the return of his handwritten notes and song lyrics from the band’s iconic Hotel California album, according to a lawsuit filed Friday in New York.
The federal court civil complaint is the second attempt to claim the documents. In March, prosecutors dropped criminal charges midway through a trial against three collectibles experts accused of trying to sell the items.
Henley claims the pages were stolen. He said he would pursue a civil remedy when the criminal case was dropped against rare books dealer Glenn Horowitz, former Rock & Roll Hall of Fame curator Craig Inciardi, and rock memorabilia seller Edward Kosinski.

Just After Dawn on the morning of May 15, 2019, more than a dozen cops arrived at a home in the placid suburb of Franklin Lakes, New Jersey. Armed with a search warrant, they ordered a member of the household to sit down and denied her access to her cellphone. Similar searches took place at other properties in Woodstock, New York, and Brooklyn. A Manhattan judge abruptly dismissed a criminal case against three men accused of stealing dozens of pages of handwritten lyrics to Eagles hits including “Hotel California” after concluding that band member Don Henley “manipulated” prosecutors by withholding evidence.
Three men — Glenn Horowitz, a rare book dealer; Craig Inciardi, a curator at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame; and Edward Kosinski, a memorabilia auctioneer — were all charged in 2022 with conspiracy over accusations that they had illegally obtained over 100 pages of lyrics from Henley.
The defendants maintained that they had legally obtained the lyric sheets from author Ed Sanders, who was hired in the 1970s to write a book about the Eagles.
During a hearing on Wednesday (via Billboard), Justice Curtis Farber revealed that Henley recently handed over more than 6,000 pages of emails and other notes that lent credence to the defense’s claims that Sanders had legitimately come into possession of Henley’s lyrics.

Prosecutors in the trial involving handwritten lyrics from the Eagles’ 1976 classic Hotel California dismissed the case on Wednesday in a surprise decision that seemingly puts an end to one of the more unusual music-related criminal trials in recent years.
In the criminal case, three men were accused of conspiring to possess stolen property. That property in question was over 100 pages of drafts of songs from the Eagles’ landmark album, written by Don Henley and Glenn Frey. The trial was heading into its third week on Wednesday when, in a letter to Judge Curtis Farber,...

Don Henley, the cofounder of The Eagles, had a serious look on his face while arriving at Manhattan Criminal Court in New York City.
A judge heard testimony in a criminal case about stolen notes with the lyrics for The Eagles’ album, Hotel California, including some of the band’s most iconic hits.
The notes were stolen from Henley’s barn and then began showing up in unauthorized auctions in 2012.
“It just wasn’t something that was for public viewing. It was our process. It was something very personal, very private,” Henley told the court. “I still wouldn’t show that to anybody.”
The Eagles have been touring for their final tour, The Long Goodbye. The tour is expected to continue until 2025. Steely Dan is an opening act for the tour.
The Eagles wrote in an Instagram post, “Our long run has lasted far longer than any of us ever dreamed.

“I’m losing my voice,” Don Henley said in New York Supreme Court on Wednesday. No surprise: The 76-year-old leader of the Eagles was wrapping up his third day of testimony in a case involving allegedly stolen pads containing developmental lyrics for Eagles songs.
After being handed a lozenge by one of the prosecutors in the case, Henley resumed answering questions about the pads, a 1979 contract between the band and writer Ed Sanders (who was writing an authorized biography of the group), and other matters from his past. In the case,...

Seated at a witness stand in Manhattan court on Monday, Don Henley was doing his best to contain himself and what he was feeling. But every so often, the boldface-name witness in a trial involving allegedly stolen handwritten lyrics to songs from the Eagles’ Hotel California couldn’t help himself.
Take the moment Henley was asked if he recalled sending legal pads with lyric drafts to writer Ed Sanders for research of the group’s planned Eagles biography more than 40 years ago. “I don’t recall offering to send him lyric pads,...
