  • Her father was a stage manager and director, her mother a high school drama teacher.
  • German leading lady of the 1930's and 40's. On stage from 1923, initially with a touring repertory company, later including a residency at the Berliner Staatstheater (1938 to 1945). Reached the peak of her popularity while married to the prominent film maker Wolfgang Liebeneiner (1934-43), who directed her in her greatest success, Yvette (1938). Disappeared from the screen for twenty years, until re-emerging as a character actress in TV productions during the 1960's.
  • She began her acting career at the theater where she worked among others at the Münchner Kammerspielen as well as in Hamburn and Berlin.
