How The Conners Tackled One Major Roseanne Star's Death
Image
Numerous characters from Roseanne have yet to appear on The Conners, the top-rated revival series of the notorious '90s sitcom. That includes the controversial star of the previous iteration, Roseanne Barr, and actor Glenn Quinn, who previously portrayed Mark Healy, Becky Conner's dimwitted and rebellious boyfriend. Roseanne and Mark were both written off the series through the off-screen death of their characters, but only one of these two stars had passed away in real life.

Following the end of Roseanne's original run in 1998, Glenn Quinn was found dead in a friend's home in North Hollywood in December 2002. At the time of Glenn's death, Mark Healy was still the most significant role he had ever had, and when Roseanne returned for one last season in 2018, his passing was addressed by Mark having passed away off-screen during the intervening years. What happened to Mark went unexplained for a long time,...

Glenn Quinn: How The Conners Addressed Mark Healy's Post-Roseanne Death
Image
Mark Healy actor Glenn Quinn tragically passed away between Roseanne's 1997 finale and The Conners, and the character was not recast. Mark's in-canon passing was due to a motorcycle accident. Both the Roseanne and The Conners cast, as well as other co-stars like David Boreanaz from Angel, remember and honor Glenn Quinn.

Glenn Quinn appeared in the hit sitcom Roseanne as Mark Healy from seasons 3 through 9 and after the show ended, the spin-off sequel series The Conners paid tribute to the deceased actor. There are plenty of characters from Roseanne who haven't appeared in The Conners, but sadly, while some could still show up, Mark Healy will not be one of them. First appearing in season 3, episode 6, "Becky, Beds and Boys", Mark was Becky's (Lecy Goranson and Sarah Chalke) rebellious boyfriend, then after they eloped, her husband, and finally, the father of her child.

Neither Roseanne (Roseanne Barr) nor Dan (John Goodman...

The Conners Season 6 Brings Back A Great Jackie Story The Show Had Forgotten
Image
Warning! This article contains Spoilers for The Conners season 6, episode 9.

Harris's work woes spark Jackie's comedic life coach past in The Conners Season 6, bringing back a great forgotten storyline. The show tackled serious themes when Becky explained Mark's death, and even Jackie's life coach subplot shows character growth. Jackie's vision board displays maturity in relationships, mirroring Becky's character development in The Conners season 6.

While The Conners season 6 doesnt always rely on Roseanne's history, the sitcom spinoff brought back one of Jackies funniest forgotten storylines in episode 9. Since The Conners has a large cast of characters, the show rarely has time to dwell on its past. Occasionally, the family will reference events that occurred in Roseannes original run or its revival, but most of the time they are too preoccupied with their lives to reminisce. Although The Conners season 7 might be more nostalgic, season 6 of the series has ensured that the...

The Conners' 100th Episode Emphasizes Its Biggest Asset (& The Reason Why It Needs Season 7)
Image
Warning! Spoilers ahead for The Conners' 100th episode.

The Conners perfects the balance between comedy & drama, tackling darker themes while still offering humor & relatability. The show's evolution into a true ensemble highlights its separate identity from Roseanne, with a focus on all core characters. With the potential to dominate the family comedy-drama genre, ABC should renew The Conners for a season 7, as its biggest competition, Young Sheldon, ends.

The Conners celebrates its 100th episode with an outing that perfectly argues why it needs to continue. When The Conners premiered in 2018, there was skepticism about its longevity. Despite being backed up by the success of Roseanne, including its short-lived revival, losing Roseanne Barr was a major cause for concern, considering that she was the face of the franchise. True to its name, however, The Conners has evolved to being a true ensemble show, with a focus on all core characters instead...

The Conners Season 6 Finally Addresses A Real-Life Roseanne Actor Tragedy
Image
Becky's emotional explanation of Mark's death in The Conners season 6, episode 7 was authentically moving and touching. The Conners effectively balanced humor and pathos when addressing the untimely death of Mark Healy's actor, Glen Quinn. The show's ability to tackle darker themes with humor highlights its strength, as seen in handling Mark's legacy in the 100th episode.

Warning! This article contains Spoilers for The Conners season 6, episode 7.

Although The Conners season 6 promised that its 100th episode would address the theme of death, the Roseanne spinoff offering a moving tribute to one late actor was still a welcome surprise. The Conners has a large cast of characters and the family sitcom often struggles to give all its protagonists sufficient screen time. As a result, the show has occasionally left important plots on the back burner for seasons at a time. Few characters have suffered more as a result of this than Becky.

The Conners season 6 introduces a new character who may become a permanent addition to the cast. Becky's willingness to marry Tyler shows growth and stability for her character after years of romantic struggles. While The Conners season 6 waited until its second episode to reintroduce one of season 5’s guest stars, the Roseanne spinoff’s new character is already on the verge of joining the family. Although the Conner family weren’t very lucky in love during Roseanne’s original run in the ‘90s, their fortunes have taken a turn in recent years. Ever since Roseanne became The Conners when Roseanne was killed off after the sitcom’s season 10 revival in 2017, the show’s supporting characters have been paired off in a string of surprisingly healthy, happy relationships.

Roseanne Barr Reveals How Her Character Will Be Killed Off On 'The Conners'
Ever since John Goodman, in a recent interview with The Times of London, made it clear that the Roseanne Conner character will have died between last season's finale of Roseanne and the premiere of The Conners, the question has been exactly how they were going to write her out of the show that she stood at the center of. Interestingly enough, the answer comes from Roseanne Barr herself, who, while appearing on the YouTube show Walk Away (hosted by Brandon Straka), noted that the writers will be expanding on a story idea that had been touched upon last season, which she wanted to explore further, but with a far different outcome. "They have her die of an opioid overdose," she said. "I wanted to show [opioid struggle] in the show, but I was never going to have Roseanne die of an opioid overdose. It’s so cynical and horrible. She should have...

Darlene and David's Baby Harris on 'Roseanne' Is a Teen Now — and a Big Sister!
The Roseanne revival undid many of the controversial plot twists of the 1997 series finale — like resurrecting family patriarch Dan Conner from the dead, for example. But what happened to Darlene Conner and David Healy's baby, aka Dan and Roseanne Conner's granddaughter? That Season 9 finale erased Darlene and David's whole relationship, but now in Season 10, that twist has also been reversed, and little Harris Conner-Healy isn't so little anymore! The Season 10 premiere wasn't the first time Harris made comeback. She was born prematurely in Season 9, and doctors didn't expect her to survive. Survive she did, however, and now she's living with her grandparents along with mom Darlene, who recently lost her job on the new reboot show. Harris, played by Shameless star Emma Kenney, is 14 years old now, even though Season 10 takes place 20 years after Season 9. Sara Gilbert Reveals the Sweet Way Johnny Galecki Helped Name Their Characters' Son on 'Roseanne'
Why did Darlene Conner name her son Mark on Roseanne? It was actually a way for her character to honor her late brother-in-law, Mark Healy. And for Roseanne stars Sara Gilbert and Johnny Galecki, it's was similarly a way to honor their late co-star, Glenn Quinn. When Sara was developing the revival of the hit ABC sitcom, she reached out to Johnny when it was time to name their characters' child. "I thought, I've got to reach out to Johnny Galecki because this is our kid together," Sara recounted on The Talk on April 16. "So I texted him, 'What do you think we should name our baby boy?' And then I said, 'Oh, maybe Mark,' because Mark was played by Glenn Quinn, who was his brother on the show [and] who passed away." Glenn played Mark Healy on the show — the tough-guy love interest of Darlene's sister, Becky Conner,...

Michael Fishman Reveals the 'Roseanne' Cast's Special On-Set Ritual to Remember Late Star Glenn Quinn
They're more than just co-stars, they're like family. In a new interview, Roseanne star Michael Fishman — who portrays DJ Conner on the hit ABC show — revealed the cast has a special on-set ritual to remember late actor Glenn Quinn before filming each new episode of the series reboot. "Glenn is missed by us daily. He remains part of the show, and close to our hearts. Before each taping we do cast introductions for the audience. We come out of Roseanne and Dan’s master bedroom, through the kitchen to meet the crowd. It is an exhilarating immediate connection with fans. In that hallway, I brought in Glenn’s picture, we each pass it before every episode we film. We remember Glenn every day. He will always be with us, part of us, part of the Roseanne show and family," Michael wrote on Facebook on Wednesday, April 11. Glenn as Mark on the show.

Lecy Goranson Reveals the 'Roseanne' Reboot Is Dedicated to Late Co-Star Glenn Quinn's Memory
Actor Glenn Quinn portrayed Mark Healy on Roseanne from 1990 until 1997, but he sadly passed away just five years after the show ended. Becky Conner "Hasn't Really Dealt With" Her Husband's Death on 'Roseanne,' Says Actress Lecy Goranson
When Roseanne returned to ABC at the end of March for a nine-episode reboot, fans were delighted to see most of the show's original cast return to the small screen. Becky Conner Was Played by Two Actresses on 'Roseanne' — and Both Are on the Reboot!
Remember when actress Lecy Goranson (aka the original Becky!) randomly left Roseanne? When the hit ABC sitcom premiered back in 1988, Lecy — who was then just 14 years old — perfectly portrayed the spunky eldest Conner daughter, Becky. But after five seasons on the series, Lecy surprisingly exited the show and left fans totally perplexed as to why. Scroll down for all the details on Lecy's departure! Why did the original Becky leave Roseanne? In 1992, Lecy decided to leave Roseanne to pursue a college education at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY. Complete Angel reviews: City of
“Los Angeles. You see it at night and it shines. Like a beacon. People are drawn to it.”

What's this? Is Angel now looking to be a tourist rep? To be fair to Angel, his initial sales pitch isn't actually too bad. Spoken over a swanky, fast cut, cross fading set of La nightlife shots, Angel's opening monologue could well attract the visitors. It's too bad that Angel would probably be sacked on the spot, given that the impressive opening bid of this Buffy The Vampire Slayer spin-off quickly cuts to him getting drunk in a down-town bar. Fair enough, he's lamenting the break-up of his relationship with Buffy, but the slurred rambling about hair is a pitch wrecker if ever there was one.

Not only that, but Angel's going through one of his 'lone wolf' phases. Despite saving the lives of two young women in the pre-credits sequence,...
