- Appeared in seven Academy Award for Best Picture nominees: Shanghaï Express (1932), Chagrin d'amour (1932), Grande dame d'un jour (1933), Le marquis de Saint-Evremond (1935), Capitaine Blood (1935), Rebecca (1940) and Madame Miniver (1942). The last two won.
- For Laurel and Hardy fans he'll be remembered for his role of Merdith the valet to Stan's morphed character of Lord Paddington in A Chump at Oxford.
