BBC Review: Inside Men Episode Three
Inside Men BBC

Written by N Conrad

To this point, Chris (Ashley Walters) has been a rather sympathetic character but that all changed tonight when he callously sat and watched his mother choke to death. Yes she was a drunk, a belligerent, delusional, violent drunk but she was still his mother. Aside from turning on his own flesh, Chris also appears to have turned on his partners in crime although we didn’t actually get to see exactly what he said to the cops. Did he expose the whole plan? Did he change his mind and tell the police about something else? We’ll have to wait until next week’s episode four to find out.

Chris apart, John (Steven MacKintosh) and Marcus (Warren Brown) were busy bees in this episode. The former added to his list of sins by fooling around behind his wife’s back with his secretary.

BBC Review: Prisoners’ Wives Episode Three
Prisoners' Wives Episode Three. BBC

Written by N Conrad

Three episodes in and the moral of the story in Prisoners’ Wives seems to be that crime is contagious. Francesca (Polly Walker) has long since been seduced by the riches that her husband accumulated during his criminal escapades while young Gemma (Emma Rigby) has found herself drawn into crime as a result of her efforts to “stand by her man.” Tonight it was the turn of Harriet (Pippa Haywood) to turn to the dark side and her excuse was her son’s safety in the nick. After her obstreperous boy got beaten up in his cell, Harriet came to the conclusion that she could ensure his future well being by supplying some illicit narcotics to his tormentors. Can you imagine what Mr Brittas would have had to say about that?

It was nice to see an episode mostly focus on someone...

ITV Review: Whitechapel Season Three Episode Three
Whitechapel Case Two

I have never been a big fan of hoarders and that opinion is unlikely to change after watching Whitechapel season three episode three. However, while the junk filled house at the center of this week’s gruesome tale was particularly unpleasant, the only living resident of the home was even more repellent. I don’t know if it was her ghostly complexion, yellow teeth, masculine voice or the fact that she was being accused of feeding severed human limbs to foxes but something about this lady just turned me off.

Beyond the house of horror, Miles struggled to come to terms with being a Dad again and fell asleep on the job more than once. Chandler on the other...

PBS Masterpiece: Downton Abbey Season 2 Part 6 Review
Downton Abbey

The war may have ended but several of the residents of Downton Abbey are struggling to come to grips with its after effects. Meanwhile, Cora who rode out World War I without too many problems is a changed woman as a consequence of her own wars with Isobel and the Countess. In fact, it seems that Cora has gone the way of Darth Vader and become rather like those she previously opposed. Her husband is among those who think she has become a bit of cold hearted harridan of late and he hasn’t shied away from pointing this out to her. You can understand why, considering that her latest ideas include reacting to the death of Bates’ wife by suggesting that they should fire him and kicking the crippled...

BBC Review: Call The Midwife Episode Five
Call the Midwife Episode 5

Episode five of Call the Midwife was an action packed affair featuring the show’s usual mix of births, deaths, comedy and romance. The ill-fated duo who bit the bullet this week were a nice middle aged couple who couldn’t be separated either in life or death. Jenny Lee (as usual) was the unfortunate midwife who found herself having to play the role of social worker/bereavement counselor. It wasn’t all doom and gloom for her though as she got a little frisky with her male friend at a rather wild pool party. However, Jenny wouldn’t be Jenny if she let a man’s attentions turn her head that easily and the frolicking fun quickly...

‘Allo ‘Allo! The Kim Hartman Interview
'Allo 'Allo

Kieran Kinsella

To millions of fans of British TV, actress Kim Hartman is best known for her protrayal of the goose stepping Helga Geerhart in the classic sitcom ‘Allo ‘Allo. Helga and her partner in crime Herr Flick were the German duo that people loved to hate or perhaps hated to love. I recently had the opportunity to interview the much loved actress about her time on the show and her more recent roles in Grange Hill and the stage play of Keeping up Appearances.

You are best known for your role as Helga in ‘Allo ‘Allo. What was it like to play a Nazi sex symbol?

“I never considered Helga to be a Nazi , she was just a rather kinky private in the German army.

'Allo 'Allo stars join Brian Blessed and Red Dwarf cast at Spring Memorabilia
Stars from the British sitcom 'Allo 'Allo are to reunite at the Spring Memorabilia Show at the NEC this weekend (March 26 to 27).

Cast members from the series, which aired on BBC1 from 1982 to 1992, will be at the event on both days to host panels, meet fans, sign autographs and pose for photographs.

Conceived as a parody of wartime drama Secret Army, the classic comedy took place in a French town occupied by the Germans during World War 2 - complete with a cast of Resistance agents, incompetent Nazis, bemused Raf airmen, buxom French beauties and a linguistically-challenged British spy.

Those attending the convention include Guy Siner (who played effete panzer commander Lieutenant Hubert Gruber), Richard Gibson (dastardly Gestapo officer Herr Otto Flick), Arthur Bostrom (Rugby's vowel-mangling spy Officer Crabtree), Kirsten Cooke (local resistance leader Michelle Dubois), Kim Hartman (Herr Flick's love interest Private Helga Geerhart), John D Collins (downed Raf airman...
