Image
“Breaking Bad” star Aaron Paul has signed on to star in psychological thriller “The Midnight Pool” for James McTeigue.

‘The Studio’ Gets Closer to Real Life: Hershey Chocolate Movie in the Works with Finn Wittrock and Alexandra Daddario
Image
Well, it’s not Martin Scorsese’s Kool-Aid movie from “The Studio” but it’s close. In the vein of Jerry Seinfeld’s “Unfrosted” and Eva Longoria-produced Cheeto film “Flamin’ Hot” (plus all of the other brand-centric “biopics” corporations love), Variety reported that a “Hershey” film is in the works with Finn Wittrock portraying chocolatier Milton Hershey.

As “The Studio” parodies outrageous films based on consumer product brands, the timing for the announcement of “Hershey” seems like a serendipitous case of reality mirroring satire.

Wittrock will play Milton Hershey, who built an eponymous candy empire with a philanthropic legacy. Alexandra Daddario portrays Milton’s wife Kitty Hershey; the duo cofounded the Hershey Industrial School in 1909 to provide free education and housing to orphans and underprivileged children. Milton later transferred the majority of his fortune into the Milton Hershey School Trust, “planting the seed for one of the wealthiest educational endowments in the country,...

Eat Your Heart Out, Willy Wonka — A Hershey's Chocolate Movie Is in the Works
Image
The story of America's most famous chocolatier is coming to the big screen. Variety reports that the life story of candy tycoon Milton Hershey is being molded into a new biopic. Finn Wittrock is set to star as Hershey, while Alexandra Daddario will play his wife, Kitty. The movie will be released in 2026.

Mark Waters, the veteran helmer behind Mean Girls and Freaky Friday, is set to direct Hershey, which will center around the love story between Milton and Kitty, as well as their extensive charitable efforts. The two were married in 1898, just as Hershey was perfecting the mass production of milk chocolate, leading to the creation of the iconic Hershey bar. Unfortunately, however, their romance was cut short in 1915, when Kitty died of a nervous system disorder at age 43: Milton lived another thirty years and never remarried, carrying a photo of her with him for the rest of his life.

The story behind one of the most famous chocolate companies in the world will be told in the live-action movie “Hershey,” starring Finn Wittrock and Alexandra Daddario and directed by “Mean Girls” and “Freaky Friday” helmer Mark Waters.

Daisy Ridley Is an Axe-Wielding Vigilante in First Look at Zak Hilditch’s Survival Thriller ‘We Bury the Dead’
Image
Daisy Ridley, star of the “Star Wars” sequel trilogy, is a different kind of vigilante in Zak Hilditch’s upcoming horror-survival-thriller “We Bury the Dead.”

The film, which will have its world premiere shortly and hold a special preview event at Australia’s Adelaide Film Festival in November, unveiled a first look at Ridley in the role of a desperate woman who joins a body retrieval unit, hoping to find her husband alive after a disastrous military experiment destroys the population of Tasmania. As she sifts through the corpses, she discovers that many are not quite dead.

Ridley’s character looks haggard as she journeys to the south of Tasmania and is forced to make peace with her own unfinished business in the face of futility.

When Easy, a handsome vagabond stranger, appears, Junior hatches a plan to get rid of his father so that his mother can marry him instead. Patrick Stewart’s 5 Star Trek: Tng Episodes He Directed Ranked Worst To Best
Image
Patrick Stewart's directorial episodes of "Star Trek: The Next Generation" focused heavily on the character of Lt. Commander Data, reflecting his admiration for actor Brent Spiner. While "Hero Worship" lacked standout moments, it showcased strong performances and Stewart's ability to create the right circumstances for his actors. "A Fistful of Datas" demonstrated Stewart's comedic skills as a director and his personal connection to exploring complicated relationships, like that of Worf and his son Alexander.

As well as playing Captain Jean-Luc Picard, Patrick Stewart directed five episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation of varying degrees of quality. The five episodes of Tng are Stewart's only directing credits, in contrast to his co-star Jonathan Frakes, who has become a prolific director of film and television. Stewart got a great deal of support from Frakes during his time in the director's chair, and still holds his Tng Number One in high esteem.

Twitter Launches Disappearing ‘Fleets’ Globally After Tests In Select Markets
Image
After conducting tests in Brazil, Italy, India and South Korea earlier this year, Twitter has officially launched a disappearing messaging function called Fleets across its global platform.

In a blog post, Twitter Design Director Joshua Harris and Product Manager Sam Haveson wrote that the aim of the new option is to make users less self-conscious. “Some of you tell us that Tweeting is uncomfortable because it feels so public, so permanent, and like there’s so much pressure to rack up retweets and likes,” they wrote. “To help people feel more comfortable, we’ve been working on a lower pressure way for people to talk about what’s happening. Today, we’re launching Fleets so everyone can easily join the conversation in a new way – with their fleeting thoughts.”

Similar to the “stories” on Snapchat, Instagram and Facebook, Fleets can be posted to followers before disappearing within 24 hours. They can...

Crystal Palace Agree £100 Million Investment Deal
Adam Davy/Pa Archive

According to Sky Sports, Crystal Palace Palace co-chairman Steve Parish and his fellow investors Steve Browett, Jeremy Hosking and Martin Long have secured a £100 million investment in the club after agreeing terms with Us investors Josh Harris and David Blitzer.

The report states that the deal will see Parish, Blitzer and Harris all retain an equal 18% share of the club with the remainder going to Browett, Hosking and Long (who will reduce their respective stakes in the club) and various other Us interests. This investment had long been deliberated over and it looked like the deal was going through late last year before talks cooled.

Parish had long discussed the need for investment to accelerate the growth of the club and this huge investment will primarily be used for the long-overdue development of Selhurst Park and the report claims that the Americans will put £50 million in for player recruitment.
