- Joined J. C. Williamson Theatres in the early 1960s, launching himself into a series of stage musicals commencing with "Camelot" (playing 70-year-old Squire Dap, aged 21, and where he met his future wife), "Hello, Dolly!", "The Boys from Syracuse", "The Fantastics" and "Half A Sixpence".
- Whilst working on Prisoner (1979), he was also appearing in evening theatre-restaurant entertainment at the acclaimed Nero's Fiddle on Mitcham's Whitehorse Road, four nights a week. He'd done similar during his stint in Bellbird (1967).
- Spent fifteen months with his wife Sue touring Europe and the Middle East as members of the Take Five vocal group in the late '60s.
