Kerry Hansen has been working in the film industry for over 20 years and has developed a strong reputation as one of the great liberty and trick horse trainers in the field. A native of Australia, Kerry made the move to Canada in 1990 where he spent the next six years on the Rodeo circuit as well as training horses. Kerry often traveled back and forth between Canada and Australia until he settled in Canada in 2004.
Kerry's work with horses as well as other animals has provided him many opportunities to work on numerous TV series, feature films as well as commercials. Kerry is best known for his work on hit TV shows such as When Calls the Heart, Big Sky, Virgin River, Once Upon a Time and Van Helsing, along with major motion pictures including The Mustang, Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes, Night at the Museum: Battle At The Smithsonian, Twilight: New Moon, Rise of the Silver Surfer and Warcraft.
Horses have always been a passion for Kerry. His current team of liberty and trick horses includes his three Quarter Horses Soldier, Cougar, Wolf and Crow, each a celebrity in their own right!
Kerry is especially proud of his perfect safety record and is known for his excellent animal husbandry and training both on and off set. While many trainers take care of their animals' physical safety, Kerry never loses sight of his animals' mental and emotional welfare, ensuring the horses leave the set as happy and relaxed as when they arrive.
