Born to an Irish father and English mother, Scott Handy graduated from the University of Cambridge with a degree in English. He was also a choral scholar and, in addition to singing, he plays saxophone and was a member of the boy pop group Ice Cold in Alice in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Scott studied acting at the Central School of Speech and Drama, and, since graduation, has returned there on a number of occasions as a visiting director as well as being on the visiting faculty at LAMDA. He has presented theatrical work-shops all over the world, often for the Cheek By Jowl Company - with whom he spent three years - and the Royal Shakespeare Company for whom he has played a number of leading roles. He worked for a year for Peter Brook in Paris, as well as with the New York experimental company The Wooster Group. He is long time collaborator with Rupert Goold, playing the title role in Faustus, and playing Antonio opposite Patrick Stewart's Shylock. Though best known as a stage player he has made many forays into film and has also joined the vast roll-call of those actors being investigated by Poirot and Barnaby of 'Midsomer Murders' on British television. In 2013 he joined the huge ensemble cast of the BBC's epic period serial 'The Village.' His cinematic work includes Ridley Scott's 'Napoleon', Tim Burton's 'Miss Peregrine's Home for peculiar children' and Heath Ledger's break-out movie 'A knight's Tale'. He is married to the Greek Cypriot film actress Agni Scott and lives in South East London with their two children.
